6 Chapter Six

Riley knew he was lucky. He was aware that his life could have turned out so much worse. He was lucky to have been born into such a loving and supportive family. He received nothing but love and acceptance from his parents when they found out he not only had two soulmates but that they were also both boys. He was aware that his two friends didn't even have that. But some days he couldn't help but wish things were better.

Riley has changed schools so many times he's lost count. Every time the bullying got too bad, his parents would move him. Until now. He has now been at the same school for a year and while the bullying was really bad, he refused to move. He finally had friends. He wasn't about to give that up for a chance that maybe he could find a school where he wouldn't be bullied. So Riley pushed through for his friends.

"Hey what did you guys get for question 6? I got a B but I don't think that's right." Drew asked Emmaline and Riley as they did their homework in the living room of Riley's house.

"Um," Emmaline mumbled while flipping back to said question, "Yeah, no. I got a C."

"I got a C as well," Riley mentioned.

"Welp. How did you get that answer?" As Emmaline pulled up the notes from class, Riley stood and walked towards the kitchen with the empty bowl of chips.

"She just phrased the question differently but it was on slide three of the notes." Emmaline showed Drew the slide as Riley sat back down in his seat and place the bowl on the table. Drew laughed at himself as he fixed the error.

"I'm an idiot." He laughed.

"Yeah." They answered. Drew gasped and launched a pillow at each of them. They all laughed.

"You guys are the worst," Drew exclaimed but the fond smile on his face suggested that he was just joking. They finished the rest of their homework without further interruptions and before they knew it they were sprawled across the couches watching Disney movies.

"I hate Ariel," Emmaline grumbled. Riley gasped and turned to her.

"What the heck?! Ariel is amazing! She's a freaking mermaid!" He said.

"Yeah, but she risked her life for a guy she didn't even know! Like this dude could have been a serial killer or a rapist but she still decides to abandon her family just for a possibility that maybe he could love her. Like, what if he decided to kill her upon finding out what she was? Also, she basically only liked him for his looks because that was the only thing she knew about him at the time."

"Okay you make a very compelling argument and when I come up with a counter-argument I will get back to you," Riley stated.

"Both of you need to shut up. I'm trying to watch a movie here." Drew grumbled. "Also, Princess Tiana, Merida, and Moana are the best. Now hush." For the rest of the night, the only time they made a sound was just to sing along.
