New Home

Shoes pounding against the smooth, tarred road, Auralia run through the rich suburban of her new home. The sun was rising behind her as a light breeze blew, cooling her sweating body. She had music blasting in her ears as she made it through the last five miles of her run.

Tree branches swayed in the breeze, birds flying away and not a piece of litter or leaf out of place. It was extremely clean and every house she passed was as grand as the next.

It was peaceful compared to the last few days where she had gotten intense bodyguard training in the mornings and afternoons followed by high society quizzes in the evening. It was gruelling, Auralia having fallen asleep as soon as she hit the bed mattress on her first day.

But she had made it through the last four days quite well and was taking a break from her bodyguard training today. Apparently, Mrs. Davidson had planned the day with her first real test in high society this evening at some movie premiere.

Auralia was a little glad about being slowly introduced into society as Mrs. Davidson's granddaughter rather than being suddenly thrusted into the world after becoming Alexander Ezra's fake wife.

However, at the same time, she was completely nervous, wondering if she could handle society well. Maybe it was because she had watched too many soap operas and read too many romance novels but for some reason high society always seemed to look like a cruel place.

For commoners than is…

She let out a sigh, shaking her head to make the thoughts disappear. She wanted to run in peace not make herself an emotional disaster with all the negative thoughts.

Pulling her phone from her sweatpants, she turned up the volume of her music, letting the rhythm wash away her thoughts.

When Auralia finally got to the front door, she was sweating a little more than usual and the sun had fully risen. She walked inside to find the mansion alive, servants running around starting their cleaning chores or helping with breakfast.

The butler, Mr. Gray, appeared as soon as she walked through the hallway of the house holding a small white towel for her. His black suit was neat as always and not a single black hair was out of place.

"Good morning young miss." He greeted as he handed her the towel.

"Morning Mr. Gray." Auralia greeted back, taking the towel from him and wrapping it around her neck.

"Breakfast will be served in an hour. Shall I have one of the maids draw you a bath?"

"No, I'll be fine."

Despite, the quick adaption to her new life, Auralia still felt a little weird around all the servants. She wasn't used to being waited hand and foot, certain things like having people draw her baths making her a little uncomfortable.

"Alright then. I'll take my leave then." He gave her a small bow before hurrying off.

Auralia walked through the mansion, making her way to her temporary bedroom. Opening the grand wooden door, she stepped into the floral decorated room.

The room was grand with a king sized bed in the center and a small chandelier handing from the ceiling. A vanity table sat in the one corner of the room and a door leading to a massive walk-in closet lay on the opposite side.

There was another wooden door leading to an en-suite bathroom and French doors leading a balcony with a small table and view of the downtown part of the city.

A scent of roses and lilies filled the room, a fresh vase of those flowers having been placed on the nightstands sitting on either side of the bed.

Quickly heading to the closet, she grabbed a t-shirt and some ripped jeans as well as her underwear and toiletries. She then headed to the bathroom, passing a grand bathtub and going to the shower next to the tub.

She placed her things on the towel rack and basin before opening the hot water tap. Auralia swiftly removed her workout bra and sweatpants before jumping into the water and letting the heat massage her aching muscles.

After a few minutes, she washed herself and hopped out the shower. She got dressed quickly and placed her sweaty clothes into a nearby laundry basket. A bit of lipstick and mascara and she was ready for the day.

Heading outside, she put her black boots on and headed downstairs to smell a scent of fresh bread and bacon running through the house. It made her stomach grumble a little, hungry after her morning exercise.

She quickly made her way to the dining room and found Mrs. Davidson sitting at the head of a large dinning table. The older woman was wearing a fancy blouse and matching skirt, a pearl necklace around her neck. She was busy stirring her tea when Auralia took a seat next to her.

"Good morning, Grandmother." Auralia smiled at her as a servant placed a plate of breakfast in front of her.

"Good morning, dear. Enjoy your run?"

"Yes, it was quite peaceful." Auralia answered before placing some of the food into her mouth.

Her taste buds tingled as the food entered her mouth, the bread melting quickly. The eggs were made perfectly and the meat was seasoning was on point.

One thing she had come to love was the food. She wasn't great when it came to cooking so she didn't have homecooked meals often. However, the chef in the mansion was fantastic and Auralia was glad to gain a few pounds from eating her food.

"That's nice…" Mrs. Davidson paused for a second. "As you know we're doing a little outing today…"

"Yes?"

"And I thought it would be best if we upgrade your wardrobe a little." Mrs. Davidson mused as she took a sip of her tea.

"Is something wrong with my clothes?" Auralia looked down at her clothes.

Sure, they weren't new but they were well taken care of and didn't seem to have any problems.

"No, it's just you don't wear the right brand of clothes…Plus I do enjoy a good shopping trip. You could humor this old lady?"

"Of course."

Mrs. Davidson clapped her hands with joy. "This is going to be so much fun."
