Crystal Nucleus

Bright climbed up onto his feet then opened the cage and cautiously pulled each corpse on top of an old piece of carpet.

He then took out his knife and started to insert it into the back of the skull where it was the most vulnerable.

It did not take too long to loosen the back of the skull and create an opening but he could no longer continue what he was doing.

He had the urge to vomit once again so he went towards the sink once again before returning back to his work. "I do not know how people can get used to doing this. Still.. it is the best environment for to do so since it is a controlled environment."

If he attempted to do what he was doing somewhere else after killing a zombie then he would only be putting himself in danger.

Luckily he was wearing gloves otherwise he would have been further disturbed and unable to complete his task.

His finger was inserted into the brain of the dead zombie puppy and it pushed further in while he felt around for something.

A look of annoyance was on his face so Brick started to create a bigger opening. "I should have just went wild and smashed the skull while hoping for the best like other people.. ha so troublesome."

He finally hit something that was like a lump or stone within the brain area so he tightened his grip around it and pulled it out after he had cut around it. "Somewhat clumsy for a first attempt for sure but I am no surgeon so it is to be expected."

He looked down at the thing in his hand and then sighed. "Typical… it is indeed crystal nucleus. Now to harvest the others."

Brick placed the nucleus to the side and then went on to the next ones, after he had finished searching the brains of the zombie puppies, he placed them into a sieve and poured a little alcohol over the top to wash away and disinfect some of the brain matter or anything else that remained stuck to them. "Now for the main part."

After cleaning himself up, he took out a couple of bottles of water and lined them up besides each other then took out an empty salt and pepper grinder.

He placed the crystallised nucleuses inside and started to grind them down into tiny fragments which all fell into a small bowl. "Normally the protagonists would usually just eat these things without a single care in the world or would take some great risk to awaken early but there really is no need here."

Brick took a teaspoon measurement of the crystal nucleus dust or fragments then carefully put each of them into the bottled water.

After the four crystal nucleus were used completely, eight bottles of water had the fragments added to it before being closed and shook up. "This should last me about eight days. If what the novel has stated then everything I have done is correct."

Unlike most power and apocalyptic novels, humans each had a natural limit or how much of the nucleus power they could absorb everyday without becoming infected with the virus.

Some other novels used cultivation principles as a means to extract the energy from the crystals but the author had written the power structure of the world to allow an advantage for the female lead who had regressed and had started to absorb the crystal nucleus before anyone else.

Some special individuals had a higher tolerance which allowed them to consume a higher amount while others had less of a tolerance or most likely average.

The safest distribution method was to water down the crystal granules and drink it like he had made but there was a limit to half the amount of a crystal per person every day.

Through trial and error, each person was able to determine their natural limits by how much of a bottle of water could be consumed through the day and be absorbed without any side effects or danger to the body.

The road of evolution was a dangerous path which could easily cause a person's death when they miscalculated or took too much of a risk to increase their strength quickly.

One miscalculation could turn an ordinary person into a zombie or an evolved person into an evolved zombie so most that took that path were not only a danger to themselves but also others if they failed to do it correctly.

The crystals that Brick had were only basic crystal nucleuses with a little energy and virus in them so they were less dangerous for ordinary humans, although they helped to power up and help evolve ordinary humans over time, they would lose their effectiveness once they reached a higher level of power.

Ordinary crystals were the basics for awakening a humans potential along with the correct method because a little later there would be grade one and two zombies appearing which would contain the power needed for a person to keep improving their powers.

Brick took a bottle of water that had been shaken up then removed the lid. "Bottoms up!"

He took a couple of gulps which emptied a quarter of the bottle then closed the lid. "Damn.. this is so weird."

It felt like there were weird energies within his body which were causing his body to become overly energetic. "Now for the next part."

He ran into his home gym and started lifting weights, running on the treadmill, doing pushups, sit-ups and squats but he did not seem to be tired after pushing himself past his bodies natural limits. "It is like an energy steroid or something.. hahaha. I feel so full of energy."

The most natural way to absorb the energy into the body was to exercise and push the body like he had done so that the energy could be used up and be absorbed by the body better to help with the awakening.

The body was able to adapt to the smaller amounts of the energy and the exercise helped but there were people who just drank it without the exercise.

Those that did so had a much slower growth and slower absorption while a lot of the energy was wasted because the body had not had the best conditions to use it.

Just like food or medicine, if not properly put to use then it would cause problems for the body later like building up medicinal impurities or build up within the body which become like poison or food would cause the body to build up fat rather than muscle because it has not been properly absorbed and used by the body.

For some people that continued to do the same things, there would be lingering dangers of the residual virus remaining within the body which could one day outgrow their own level of immunity.

Through the experiments on Lucy, the evil and mysterious group had been able to test many of the limitations of the human body along with the crystal nucleus experimentation.

After training until the feeling of being full of energy disappeared, Brick wiped down his body a little and then started to prepare himself a meal from the frozen meals. "A my good friends. Frozen food, you shall be missed. Too bad the female lead has yet to awaken her abilities, perhaps she could save a few.. nah! Why would she bother to help me?"

After filling his stomach, he took another drink and then went back to training full of energy.

More time passed as the sun was coming out and many were starting to rise from their beds.
