Chapter 1Prologue

Betrayal.

That's what I felt.

My name is darker than the world I am living right now, and I can't lighten it, especially after what I did... everything that had happened, has a reason, I believe that... and I keep believing that, or else...

"Ridiculous as it may sound, this is the stark reality we face. Mr. George Bernard, the very pillar of trust, has spun an intricate web of lies that manipulate us all... me, his family, his people. This game unfolds within our minds, a sinister mystery eclipsing the reality beyond. Unbeknownst to us, Mr. George Bernard manipulates perceptions, crafting an illusion of innocence, turning them into people their not used to be. But for those tainted by guilt, faith remains elusive. This confession isn't a plea for my innocence; we're all marred by an internal darkness, a shared truth often denied"

I laugh. Who wouldn't? These people who are watching me right now, knows that they are not innocent as they seem, they have secrets, darker than the skies from above. But they wouldn't agree on that. Because they will do everything they can, to keep the clean state of their name. Like me.

"My story begins with a singular act... a life taken, not in cold blood, but as a desperate bid for justice. A sin, undoubtedly, yet one born of necessity in the face of a malevolent plan. Mistakes weave through our lives, some made to shield ourselves. I stand amongst those who erred, fighting to defend myself and clear my name, akin to an ocean seeking redemption.

My abilities, they are not strong enough to save lives... So how could I be the harbinger of light, when I couldn't even save my own, and my home... so I can't be the chosen one, the elusive cure to this madness. But I sense, within the shadows of those watching these right now, is the potential harbinger of salvation."

I wipe the tears that come out from my eyes. They can't see me weak.

I'm a Brenner, no Brenner is weak.

"To you, the unseen watcher, tuning in these pages, I implore: Do not succumb to fear. Confront your destiny and become the savior others yearn for. My failure in saving Friday Harbor looms large, casting a daunting shadow over the prospect of rescuing the world. The true enemies remain veiled, and uncertainty shrouds our path.

In this labyrinth of existence, every twist, even the malevolent ones, unfolds with purpose. Brace yourself, for this is just the beginning—a narrative where suspense meets revelation, and every page promises to unravel the mysteries that lie ahead."

TL;DR: Not Shakespeare, not complex, but fun and easy to read. Come support! As the translator, I've enjoyed translating this novel and I hope to bring the essence of what the author has tried to portray into the chapters you will read. To sum it up in 3 words: Mechs! Explosions! Science! To be perfectly honest, this novel is about your typically overpowered protagonist who does get looked down from time to time but always overcomes the odds with his own special power. He's abit more mature having grown up on his own and just a littttttttle bit dense. Although it always ends up with him winning, it always happens in an interesting (subjective) and fun way that makes me enjoy reading this. The novel has elements of lighthearted comedy from time to time and I do chuckle at how direct the humor is. It's not as smart as say WMW nor does it weave an intricate story much like Ergen's novels. More importantly, its fun and it doesn't try to hide it.
