Prologue

In the middle of the Great Plains, in the Phuinem Kingdom, mountain of demon and human corpses lied on the ground, whose blood formed a dark red river. As the sun was rising, one could witness the sight of a man standing in this hellish landscape: the last man alive in the whole battlefield, Drodosis Gloom.

In this world called Alphen, a few humans could break through their genetic limits. Those who managed to achieve such feats were called 'adepts'. Those striving to reach these status, but had yet to achieve it, were called acolytes.

The man wasn't an adept. He was incredibly near it, but in the end, he had been too impatient in the past, trying to break through twice in a row, wasting an incredibly high amount of money, indebting himself, leading him to his current predicament. It was supposedly his last mission before being 'freed' from his debts. Yet, it was a suicide mission. If he didn't comply, his household would have suffered from this demon invasion, and the greedy shark loans would have plundered his home. Hence, he was forced to do it anyway, but he never expected to die here, poisoned by a mutant demon.

In a last push, he managed to burn his own body, so that his enemies wouldn't get revenge on his family, in fear that he was still alive. Blue flames enveloped him, and as he embraced them, he turned into ashes.

When he awoke, he felt alienated and joyous at the same time. It didn't take him a long time to realize what had happened to him: he had travelled 36 years back in time, in the middle of his journey from his noble household to the Hexagonal Adept Academy from where he had graduated. This meant that he was only 12 years old at this point…

This experience made him realize two things: Firstly, he was given a priceless opportunity to make it to the top powerhouses of the continent, becoming a so-respected adept. Secondly, although his training and meditation had been wasted, his experience and the knowledge he had accumulated after decades of research and roaming was still in his head, not to mention the secret locations of hidden treasures, hidden monster nests full of opportunities…

Looking at his handy mirror, he could only see a grinning face in his reflection. It was time to become a true legend!
