Fear!

In the Xin family dog house, an ugly faced boy stood in lotus position thinking. Ryuks ugly face, was actually previously extremely handsome, but some time when he was around 12 some boys from the village decided to destroy the handsome face that captivates the affections of all women in the village. The young men of the village would always hit on women, some did it to get a beauty, some did it for the fame, some did it because they wanted to get more powerful in the small village, but when Ryuk was handsome no young men got any pretty girls. The men of the village knew it was because they wished to capture Ryuks heart so they beat him ugly. Ryuk didnt really care, in fact he wad happy he could see and understand human nature more perversely like this.

' I dont have any kind of cultivation method, for my body, or to gather qi. Furthermore i cant cultivate in the soul until my soul membrane develops at 16. Although the Xin family didnt let me read or learn any cultivation techniques I was able to gather enough understanding from books describing cultivation. Most of it are basic interpretations, some are over exaggerated, and some dont have enough information. But i managed to come to my own conclusions luckily, although theres no specific way to force my body into a state of cultivation, I think if I have a hard battle with a beast my body will undergo a pseudo cycle of cultivation and if i can understand the flow of inborn qi from that I can understand how to direct external qi from the heavens to then produce my own personal cultivation method, but it won't be as efficient as long standing methods that have gone through many changes and been optimized. As for body tempering I dont even know what the stages are, most books dont express body tempering enough, because its so difficult to do.' Ryuk silently whispered to himself. Ryuk awoke from his meditation and began to think about how he would start his journey.

Days later in the high branches of an ancient tree stood a masked figure in a loose black cloak, in the figures hands was a shabby bow with a stone arrow drawn. The figure was a now a more fit Ryuk hunting. Ryuk had bought a few medicines and balm to cure some wounds he had to optimize his hunting, he also bought a bow and two arrows, and thus the little bit of money Ryuk had disappeared. Ryuk first hunted normal beasts like hares and other small creature's this was to get enough nutrition to properly use his body. Now Ryuk was hunting a demonic beast. Ryuk had absolutely no right to fight a demonic beast they were incredibly strong, and full of vitality, but Ryuk knew two things: 1) demonic beasts were only slightly more intelligent than normal beasts and 2) demonic beasts had one obvious weakness and that was their eyes, the eyes was unprotected even in high stages furthermore they are connected to the brain and an easy push will shove it into the brain and the beast would be dead. Soon enough a prey came along. A rank 1 demonic beast a humming bunny came into view. The bunny approached the bait Ryuk had left and began to nibble on it. Ryuk stretched the bow string as far as he could, he focused his absolute on the target in front of him, and bits of information from the books he had read came into his head. 'Humming Bunny: rank 1 demonic beast, suited to be the beast companion of beginner cultivators. Temperament:mild, loyal, caring. Strengths: resilient fur, and detection ability akin to a bats, but more developed.' Ryuk knew that the bunny was a perfect counter for him and released the bow string gently. The rabbit ate the food Ryuk had prepared and left. Ryuk climbed down the tree and reset the food. "Hmmmm, hmmmm" the sound of humming became eerily obvious to Ryuk, he turned his head still bending down. The humming rabbit showed a nasty smirk looking at Ryuk, and jumped explosively towards Ryuk. Ryuk felt his skin crawl and felt a dominating presence within himself, it was fear!
