15 Chapter 15. Zommari vs Byakuya

A little before the battle between Ichigo and Ulquiorra, a certain Arrancar was standing near the dead body of Aaroniero Arruruerie, the 9th Espada. The Arrancar was bald, tall, with dark skin, and large lips as well as yellow eyes. He was the 7th Espada Zommari Rureaux.

Zommari expressed his sadness then decided to make sure that Rukia is dead and unsheathed his Zanpakuto, told Aaroniero that he was going to clean up his mess.

As this was happening, Byakuya Kuchiki, along with Captains Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Retsu Unohana, and Kenpachi Zaraki, arrived in Hueco Mundo to assist Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends.

Byakuya decided to confront Zommari, who asked him who he was. He doesn't answer, but Zommari was able to deduce that he's a captain due to the haori he has, and introduced himself as the 7th Espada. He then asked him for his name again, but Byakuya simply stated that he was his enemy, and asked him if he was the one who hurt Rukia.

Zommari told him he wasn't, but admitted that he was just about to finish the job. He then asked him if there was something wrong since he was not attacking, and speculated that if he was trying to save Rukia, his efforts would be futile.

However, Byakuya told him that he doesn't understand, and asked him what he means by "futile".

Byakuya used Senka and appeared directly behind Zommari, but just as he was about to unsheathe his Zanpakuto, another Zommari appeared directly behind Byakuya. As he swung his Zanpakuto down on him, Byakuya was able to block the blow with his own Zanpakuto, and formed a distance between the two. Byakuya asked him what technique he used, and Zommari stated that it's Gemelos Sonído.

He then boasted that he was the fastest among the Espada, since increasing his steps even a little will result in clones. Zommari stated that this technique is meant to surprise his opponents, and told Byakuya if he was too shocked to move, then he shouldn't feel embarrassed.

However, Byakuya told him that he was the one who should be ashamed since he revealed his entire hand to him, and stabbed Zommari across his chest.

Another Zommari appeared behind Byakuya again, but this time it was easily countered. However, yet another Zommari appeared behind him and told him that Gemelos Sonido was not limited to two clones.

Byakuya simply told him that he figured as much and used Hado #4. Byakurai, which sent a bolt of lightning through Zommari's chest. As he fell to the ground, even more clones of Zommari appeared behind Byakuya, and he explained that he can create up to five clones.

He then stabbed Byakuya through the chest, and told him that the reason for his defeat was the arrogance that kept him from stating his name.

However, Byakuya appeared right behind Zommari by using Utsusemi, which was taught to him by Yoruichi Shihoin.

He then told Zommari that he was the arrogant one, but the reason for his loss won't be because of that, but because of the huge difference in their power.

Zommari told Byakuya that he shouldn't have so much pride, as he felt that they're both of equal class.

However, Byakuya told him that an Arrancar thinking that he is equal to him was already a form of pride in itself.

Zommari believed that arrogance must be a part of Byakuya's nature, so he told him that he was going to destroy his pride.

He then goes into his Resurreccion, Brujería. When transform ended, Zommari now had dress like pink thing around his waist as well as many eyes around his body.

Zommari seemingly began an attack, forcing Byakuya to Shunpo behind him.

However, nothing happened, and Zommari mocked Byakuya for the confused look he has on his face. He explained that the attack has already happened, and a marking forms on Byakuya's left leg. Zommari stated that his left leg is under his control and explained that the ability of his Resurreccion, Amor, is to steal sovereignty over anything it sees.

Zommari told Byakuya that it's okay for someone of his intelligence not to understand, and decided to show what he meant by bringing Byakuya's left leg towards him.

However, Byakuya decided to use his Zanpakuto to cut the muscles and tendons of his leg, stopping all movement of it.

Zommari commended him for what he did, but because of this he decided that he'll instead control Rukia's body.

However, Byakuya immediately used Shunpo and appeared in front of Rukia which made Zommari commend him yet again for being able to move that well on one leg.

All of a sudden, a shinigami entered the room and yelled at Byakuya for leaving him behind.

However, he was immediately shocked by the situation he had found himself in, and Byakuya told him to step back as there was no guarantee he won't end up accidentally killing him in the battle.

Byakuya's left hand was shown to be under Zommari's control as well, but he immediately cut the muscles and tendons of this body part as well.

As shinigami asked him what he's doing, Byakuya used Hado #1. Sho to push Rukia's body back, and he reiterated to shinigami for him to fall back.

Zommari told Byakuya that he was impressed at his ability to make such cool-headed decisions in his situation, but reminded him that since he only has one arm and one leg, it would be foolish for him to think he could battle an Espada like this.

However, Byakuya told him that even with these handicaps, he still had not lowered himself to his level, and Zommari stated that his arrogance has far exceeded his expectations.

He then decided to change the conversation and explained to Byakuya that just now he had activated two of his eyes, meaning he took control of something other than Byakuya's left hand.

Rukia was then shown to have a marking on her head, and she immediately used her Zanpakuto to cut across shinigami's chest.

Byakuya attempted to stop her, but Zommari made Rukia put her Zanpakuto to her neck, and he explained that if he takes control of someone's head, then he gains control of their entire body and stated that because of that he had won this battle.

Zommari then told Byakuya to throw away his Zanpakuto, which he did immediately.

However, as he was doing this Byakuya decides to use Bakudo #61. Rikujokoro on Rukia, completely stopping her body. Byakuya explained to Zommari that the word "control" had no meaning in front of him and he immediately activated his Bankai, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. Upon release, his sword turned into a limitless number of petal which was blades.

The blades began to surround Zommari, who attempted to control all of the blades with his eyes.

However, Byakuya told him that there was no way for him to control the millions of blades surrounding him with only the 50 eyes across his body. He then stated that this is the type of situation that should be called "futile", and he used his Bankai technique, Gokei, causing the entire building to be destroyed.

As this was happening, Byakuya explained that the ability he just used was for boxing in opponents and cutting them up from every conceivable angle.

The building was completely destroyed, causing everyone to be outside.

Zommari was shown to have hidden in a defensive sphere, and he began panting heavily from the large amount of injuries that had been inflicted on him.

He told Byakuya that this was unforgivable and attempted to control him again, but Byakuya used Bakudo # 81. Danku, which protected him.

He explained that this Kido spell stops any Hado techniques from #89 down, and stated that the effectiveness of him using a Kido spell to stop Rukia from moving before showed Zommari's Amor as an ability similar to Kido. As Byakuya told him that his hypothesis was right on, Zommari began another attempt to control him.

However, Byakuya appeared directly behind him and he brought his Zanpakuto to his neck. Byakuya mocked Zommari, who now began to beg for his life.

However, he gave up on this and was able to get away from Byakuya. He told him that shinigami don't have the right to slay Hollows and that they shouldn't get into the affairs of Hollows either.

Byakuya simply ignored this though and used his Zanpakuto to cut across Zommari's chest. He told him that the only reason he decided to kill him was because he decided to step on his pride with a dull blade.

As he dies, Zommari shouted his praise for Sosuke Aizen before disintegrating into the wind.
