2 Hey, beautiful, let’s camp in the jungle with me.

Zhiqiang stared in blank mind at the city outside from the hole in his apartment.

He supposed the correct words to describe the city right now were a wild and huge wilderness just fell into the city. That's right, fell.

Because what else he could say to the wilderness that was suddenly appeared covering all over city in just one night?!

Huge plants and trees were growing all over the places without care, breaking a lot of building that he had hard times to discern which this building and that building were.

If not from him already familiar with the city, he would not be able tell any those ruins of building.

From a far, he could see the NYC Hospital Center he works for. The building was in half ruin. An enormous tree was growing from the ground floor in the left building and breaking through to the sky topping over the hospital that had more than a hundred meter in height. Green vines were branching all over the building from the tree.

He looked over his own apartment building. There was also a huge tree that was growing from the front yard of building. It was not as tall as the hospital tree, but it was still high enough to top over his apartment building. The large green plant that was breaking through his wall was one of branch from the huge tree.

He suddenly felt thankful his building was strong enough to not fall in ruin like other building. Just the thought of dying in the middle of ruins while sleeping was causing him shivering in chills

Zhiqing started in taken back as he finally noticed the sky was bright blue. There were no more thick dark clouds. The rains really had stopped!

Since when?!

From the bight of the sky, the rains should be stopped since a long time ago. A sun was seen hanging high in the sky.

Wait, what was the time right now?

What was the date right now?

Who said it was just one night since he was slept?!

Zhiqing rushed to his room. He grabbed his phone from the bedside table and switched it on. A frustrated sigh was released by him as he couldn't turn on the phone no matter what.

He switched on the lamp, television, and all electronic things on his apartment. But not even one of them was on. All of them were dead. Figure the electricity was dead when the wilderness apocalypse came.

He breathed a relief sigh as he finally found a flashlight that was on. It seemed he still could use any electronic device that was using batteries. His phone must be dead because the battery was empty. But that just let him confirmed an information that gave him chills.

Days really should had passed since he slept.

He especially bought a phone that had a long battery life. His phone should at least be able to last three days in standby mode. He also remembered he just charged the phone full before sleeping. If his phone was dead, it was at least three days since he slept or there was something that caused it dead.

But he guessed on the former more because he remembered his body was aches a lot when waking up. He also felt dizziness in his head. Anyone would felt a lot of aches and stiffness when waking up from coma.

Zhiqiang checked condition of his body. Furrowing his eyebrows as he felt something strange was in his body. He just could not tell what it was.

As a doctor, he always paid attention of his body. The state of stiffness and aches in his body should because of a long vegetative state for at least a week. But seeing the speed of his body recovery was telling him otherwise.

Only just now, he felt a lot of aches and stiffness when waking up. But it was not even ten minutes since he checked outside but the aches and stiffness were already vanishing. The dizziness in his head was even long gone since a while ago.

This recovery speed was three to five times faster than his normal recovery.

Loud grumbles were then heard from his stomach. He frowned a bit as he felt the state of hunger in his body. He was so hungry like he hadn't eaten any food for a month. Even though there were no aches and stiffness in his body anymore, but his body felt so weak and empty.

He walked toward the kitchen. Praying in heart the food would not be expired.

Zhiqiang could only let out a frustrated sigh as he saw a lot of mold and fungus were growing in the foods inside the fridge. After searching his cupboards, he finally found a pack of edible biscuit and a few of canned food. He swept them up in a flash, letting out a relief sigh as his hunger was temporary died down for now.

After drinking a few gulp of water, he then browsed his clothes in the closets. Almost all of them were wet, full of mold and fungus. But he finally found a clean and dry jeans, shirt and thick jacket. He wore them without hesitation.

He grabbed a usable big backpack from the closets. He filled another clothes in them, and then grabbed a lot of usable water bottle he could find, there were only six by the way. He filled them with clean water before storing them in the backpack.

After a few moment of thought, he also grabbed a lighter, two flashlights and a few extra batteries he found, his medicine kit and all sharp knifes he could find in the kitchen before storing them all inside his backpack.

He slipped a large kitchen knife inside his jacket pocket and a few small knifes inside his jeans pocket. He felt thankful for his love in cooking in his free times. He had a lot of kitchen appliances.

Then he picked the strongest boot he had and wore them on his feet, before slipping a small knife inside the boot. More cautiousness would not hurt after all. He didn't know what dangerous things that were waiting him outside, but he wanted to be prepared at least.

After he felt prepared enough, he finally walked toward the door.

His door was wet, full of mold and fungus, since it was created from a wood. He carefully pulled open the door, and sneaked a peek outside. It was quiet in the corridor. Outside was a bit dim since the lamp was dead. Without even checking, he knew the elevator would not be functional since there was no electricity.

First thing first, he had to search for food and then walked toward hospital or police station to ask any authorities about what had happened to the city. He prefer to hospital since it was familiar domain.

He walked toward the next door apartment and knocked for a while. There was no answer and the door was also locked. He never really close with his neighbors but didn't mean he didn't know them. He at least wanted to know if any other people were survived.

He knocked many apartment doors in the corridor as he walked toward the staircase. But he received no answer. He finally found the last door before the staircase was not locked.

Zhiqiang carefully opened the door. But as soon as the sight inside the room was seen, he instantly froze.

The room… was in ruin...

All walls of this apartment were broken. A large tree was breaking brutally into the room from below. Almost walls and floors were in ruin. He could even see a bright sky clearly from the door like there was no wall at all.

His dark eyes quickly stopped to the corner of the room. There were a lot of tainted liquids in there that looked like a dry blood.

Zhiqiang rushed carefully toward it. An unpleasant smell quickly reached his nose. He held his breath, immediately knew what was the cause of the stink.

He cleared rubbles of wall and chairs from the corner. A corpse of human was finally seen under the rubbles. It was old man.

Zhiqiang held his breath as he saw the body. There was a large wound on the stomach and the head with a lot of maggots swarmed around them. The body already yellowed red, looked bloated and mushy. Fluids were spilling out from the wound and cracks of skin as if the old man had dead from two weak ago.

But, from the state of the room, the man obviously died when the jungle disaster came. The old man was either unconscious or couldn't save himself when the disaster came so he found himself trampled by the ruins.

Did that mean the disaster came two weeks ago? So Zhiqiang had been in unconscious state for a long two weeks?!

Zhiqiang could not help but shivered a bit thinking what would happen if the thing that had happened to the old man also happened to him.

He shook his head and took a large cloth to cover the old man's corpse. But as he was about to do so, something caught his eyes. The maggots, there was something different about the maggots.

Zhiqiang was sure a normal maggot was not that large. After he looked at them attentively, the maggots were indeed twice larger than normal. They also vicious red colored. There were even purple colored ones that looked ominous.

The longer he stared, the longer he felt the maggots were really strange. He felt hair was standing at the back of his nape as he stared at them.

Zhiqiang shook his head and quickly covered the corpse with a cloth before walking out fast from the room. After slamming the door shut, the clear air immediately inhaled by him.

As surgeon, he had seen too much of dead and corpses to feel sad or disgust about them. Even so, the sight of corpse just now really made him felt strange. As if there was something that clawing at his mind to tell him something, but he did not know what it was no matter how much he thought about them.

Zhiqiang let out a sigh before continued to walk toward the staircase.

Thankfully the staircase was not broken, so he could climb down to the ground floor without any problem.

The ground floor was as empty as upper floor. If not for him finding the old man body, he would think only him who was stranded in the middle of wilderness city. He had heard a lot about transmigration novel in Chinese after all.

He walked out of the apartment building and immediately froze in stunned.

Even though he already saw them from his apartment, the sight before him still made him shocked.

The city was really like a wilderness.

Zhiqiang walked toward parking lot in perplexed, touching a grass that was almost as tall as his body. The grasses that should only reach his feet were now reaching up to his chest, only his head to his shoulder that was seen in the thick grasses. He looked over the road in distance, finding only thick and long grasses before his eyes.

He could only abandon his car then, he thought in a sigh.

Zhiqiang decided to find a convenience store first and search for foods. He remembered there was one at few hundreds meter distance from his apartment building. He walked toward its direction cautiously.

The grasses were really disturbing his sight. If not for him taller than the grass he would not be able see at all. However it needed to be noted that his height passed a little over 180 cm and this grass almost touched his shoulder!

Thankfully his trip was peaceful beside a lot of big plant here and there. He almost felt like it was not a city anymore. More than half of buildings beside the road were broken and full of plant. It did not seem like a city anymore, more like an abandoned ruin in the middle of wilderness.

He looked up in awe as he saw a huge tree was standing tall ruining a building beside it. He blinked in surprise as he saw a huge van was stuck in the middle of the tree roots. It seemed the van was in the middle of running when the tree was suddenly growing from the ground.

Now, he thought about it, there was a lot of car that was crashed in the middle of road. He rushed toward one of them. After getting rid of the plant and grass from the broken car, he finally could see the passenger.

But a disappointment was filling him as he saw the driver was dead.

Zhiqiang covered his nose as smell of rotting reached his nose once he checked the body. The driver was stuck in the driver seat as the car was crashed to other car.

He checked the driver in other car, finding them in same condition. Zhiqiang furrowed his eyebrows while he checked the driver. There was just something that made him felt strange seeing them.

From the condition of the car, it seemed the car was crashing without any resistance. It was in the middle of crossroad after the traffic lamp. Two cars were crashing from two opposite road. The driver had his body laid flat on the steering wheel. There was no sign of resistance to steer the car to avoid the crash or any move to get out of the car before crashing.

The driver looked like just laid flat on the wheel without any resistance while the car was crashed. It as if the driver was sleeping… like he was unconscious before the crashing…

Zhou Zhiqiang widened his eyes at his own conjecture. Don't tell him—!

They all fell into unconscious state like him?!

He checked the other driver and found even more convince of his conjecture.

But why?! What was the cause?

Did all people in the city fall into unconscious state before the disaster?

Zhiqiang rubbed his chin in thought. He stared over the road, thinking to check the car one by one. But after a moment of thought, he decided it would be too troublesome. The most important thing right now was searching foods for his survival, not the cause of this disaster.

But as he was about to continue walking, a rustling noise suddenly was heard from behind the tall grass. Zhiqiang froze and turned his head in cautious motion.

However after looking around for a while he didn't find anything. Did he just mishear it? He thought in nervous. He calmed his breath and decided to ignore it. Maybe he really did mishear it. Even though his mind said so, his hand could not help but gripped tightly his knife inside the jacket.

Zhiqiang walked again toward the convenience store direction. He kept his ears focus to his surroundings. His heart was beating louder as he was walking in tight nerve.

KROSAK!

Zhiqiang flinched as a loud rustling noise suddenly was heard behind him. He quickly turned around with his right hand held tightly his knife behind his back.

"Who?!" He called out cautiously. But only thick tall grass was seen in front of his sight. He waited for a while before releasing a relief sigh. As he was about to walk again, a flash dark thing suddenly pounced at him in fast speed.

Zhiqiang gasped aloud. His vision turned dark in second as his body was thrown hard to the ground with the dark thing attacked at his body. He cursed out in frantic and pain, raising his knife in panic to retaliate at the dark thing.

He heard a loud hissing noise like in a pain and the dark thing was jumped away again. Zhiqiang forced his body to stand quickly, hissing out in pain as he felt a sharp sting on his stomach. He lifted his shirt immediately to see a large scratching wound on his chest. Bloods were dripping out of the wound making red stain on his shirt.

A loud growling was heard in front of him instantly waking him from daze. Zhiqiang held his breath and stared at the thick grasses in front of him. He could not see the dark thing that just attacked him because of the thick grasses, but he could feel its hungry gaze at his body. His blood must make the thing even more ravenous now.

A loud rustling noise was heard again before that dark thing was jumping out again to attack him. But this time, Zhiqiang was more prepare, he quickly rolled on the ground to avoid the attack, gritting his teeth hard from the pain in his chest. He stood again without wasting time and immediately rushed to attack back.

He swung his knife hard to the thing, but it jumped away to avoid him easily and pounced to attack him again instead.

"Fuck!!" Zhiqiang cursed aloud as he threw his body to the side, missing the sharp claw in a breath. The dark thing growled in annoyance and stalked toward him again.

Zhiqiang widened his eyes in shock as he finally could see the dark thing in clear sight. It was a dog. At least, he suspected it was a black dog before. It was huge, about two meters in height. With a sharp and very long fang grew from it jaws. There were sharp spikes growing in his spine, making him looked even more monstrous.

A mutated dog? Zhiqiang thought in perplexed mind. The sight of the strange maggots immediately flashed in his mind. Don't tell him all animals were mutated like the plants?!

He grabbed the knife tighter to stop his trembling. He knew he could not win against this monster. He could clearly see that the monster did not kill him already because a carnivore liked to play with his prey before eating them. He also could not to run away from the monster speed. He would only make the monster even more excited to play him.

He looked around his surroundings in brief to search any way out. But it seemed the monster was getting bored as he growled again before attacking him again.

"Fuck!!"

Zhiqiang quickly ran to avoid it, but his body was thrown hard to the ground as the monster swung his claw at him again. A sharp pain was instantly felt from his back. Zhiqiang gritted his teeth in pain and quickly rolled his body again to his back at same time of the monster pounced at him body again. Without hesitation he stabbed his knife to the eye of the monster as it opened his sharp jaw at him

ROARR!

The monster roared in pain as bloods quickly spurted out from its left eye. Zhiqiang tried to stab the knife even deeper, but the monster threw his body with its claw to the side.

Zhiqiang coughed in pain as his body fell hard into the ground again. He gritted his teeth hard, before without hesitation forced his body to stand up and run away quickly.

Chills were spreading all over his back as he heard a loud angry growl from behind. Zhou Zhiqiang held his wound tightly and ran even faster. His heart was beating loud as he quickly looked around a place for hiding. A flash of traffic light was seen in his sight, making him realize he was running back to his apartment.

Panting breaths were soon felt by him. His chest felt suffocated from running nonstop. But he could not stop his running. He could hear the monster was getting closer. He looked around trying to find a building that was still intact and secure enough for a hiding place.

A huge tree was seen in far distance. He took a quick glace behind him to see the monster was already in a few meter behind him. Gritting his teeth, he pushed his feet to run even faster toward the huge tree. A huge van was seen under the huge root of the tree. The door at the back of the van was opened, making him even more desperately to run toward it.

After it was only a meter distance to the van, he jumped into the van without hesitation and pulled the door closed hard at same time with the monster pounced at the door.

BANG!!

A heavy strength was slammed hard to the door of the van, causing a huge dent was formed instantly on the metal door. Zhiqiang held his breath in tensed as he felt the van was trembling.

The van would not be broken right? He thought in fear as he saw the real strength from the monster.

The monster growled at the van angrily. He paced a few time at the van, sniffing here and there, searching away to get him.

BANG!!

The monster slammed its body to the door again in anger. It did not seem to give up anytime soon.

Zhiqiang stared at the huge dent on the door that was getting even wrecker. The van was trembling dangerously now.

Fuck, he really had to search another way out. Zhiqiang cursed aloud.

Whistle ~ ♪

A low sound suddenly was heard behind him, causing him to flinch hard. Zhiqiang turned his body sharply, staring with wide eyes toward the sound source.

Behind him was metal cage, or maybe it was cell, because he suddenly noticed a police icon inside the van. This van must be a prisoner transport van.

Inside the cell was dark, but he could vaguely see a blond man sitting inside with a pair of silvery blue eyes staring at him in intense.

The blond man whistled again in appreciative tone as those blue eyes was gazing his body up to down.

"You are so beautiful." A low teasing voice was heard from the man.

"Who are you?!" Zhiqiang asked sharply in tensed voice.

Under the dim light, Zhiqiang somehow could see a smirk was forming on the man's lips.

With a teasing voice, the man said again. "Seem like you need a help there, pretty doll."
