48 Time Leap (Part-4)

Alex PVs

We took an emergency military flight and in less than six hours we arrived in Afghanistan.

As soon as the plane landed at the base I found the last person I expected to see here, I think it wasn't just me who didn't expect this, even my unit was surprised.

"Major Blazer, I didn't know you were coming to Afghanistan too, are you going to lead this mission?" I ask, already wanting to get rid of this hot potato.

"No boy, you won't get rid of this mission that easily. I'm here to provide logistical support and oversee the mission and report back to HQ." Says blazer seeing right through me.

"I see. What is the status of the target and how are we going to proceed with the mission?"

"It will be standard. According to the satellite images, the target did not leave the city, the soldiers here at the base did not dare to approach the target and alert him, so taking the satellite monitoring off every thirty minutes, there is no additional information. ..., I just arrived an hour before you, so the plan will be a standard infiltration and target extraction mission, but I will radio it to the target's home using the satellites.

You have 1 hour, go get ready." Blazer delivers the mission details.

"Understood Sir!" I salute.

After learning the details of the mission, I spent the next hour studying the city and its surroundings on the map, drawing up escape plans in case things didn't go according to the mission.

As soon as it was time for our departure, we received the information that a convoy of trucks arrived in the city, it was an unknown shipment, we were forced to change the approach, from an extraction mission to one of monitoring and extraction under heavy fire.

We followed the plan and changed the approach, I'm at the top of a tree watching the movement in the city, Al Qaeda members are loading several boxes in one of the empty trucks, while the others are unloading military weapons from the full vehicles, it's a total of four trucks full of military weaponry, just from there, you can see it's a big deal.

Once I have a general idea of what's going on in the city, I make a quick report back to base. "This is Captain Bell, the target is making a transaction, he is buying military weapons from an arms dealer whose identity is unknown, the volume of purchases is large, they are offloading. How should I proceed?"

"Captain Bell, mission status has just changed, continue monitoring and observing the target closely, don't let them escape, take action if necessary. Major Blazer is in contact with HQ to see how to proceed!"

"Understood!"

A few hours have passed and we still haven't received radio confirmation, my instincts were that this mission is not as simple as it sounds, the delay in the chain of command is just one of many signs that something is wrong with this mission, as The more my instincts scream, the more I'm sure, while I'm stuck in these thoughts, the radio plays.

"This is Captain Bell on the wire."

"Captain Bell, this is Major Blazer. HQ says our target is the leader of Al Qaeda, the rest is collateral damage, so how to proceed is up to me, the mission will proceed according to the information we have. Send soldiers to intercept the arms dealer!"

"Yes sir!" Having received my orders, I acted on them, but my heart was beating like a drum.

"Frankie! Call Isaac to replace me!"

As soon as I got downstairs, Isaac replaced me. I walk around a bit and sit on a rock with Nez and ask, "Do you regret it?"

Nez looks at me strangely and asks. "From what? I have some regrets in my heart, so you have to be more specific!"

I looked at her with a wry smile and said. "From us, from the camp!"

Nez looked into my eyes and said. "Are you talking about the fact that I spent a year and a half-sleeping with you, and you went out at night without saying goodbye, or the fact that I chose to come to the same unit as you, and you chose Frankie?"

I was a little embarrassed and said. "Both, after all, I didn't call you anymore after training was over, you also disappeared for half a year, I thought you were gone!"

"Why don't you assume you're a coward! We've been in the same unit for three years, and you're talking about it now! And don't think I don't know you're dating Frankie!" Nez raises his tone.

"I'm no coward! I'm the Crimson demon, First on the Sniper list, several amazing feats, and I still have three amazing medals!" I say nonsense to assuage the shame in my heart, I think I brought this to calm my desperate heart.

"To Alex! Do you think that's the kind of cowardice I was talking about? I know you're a brave man, but you're emotionally a coward, and we both know it! You went out at night, in the morning I woke up and I was alone, and you never called or wrote or texted I haven't heard from you in half a year If that's not being a coward then what is?

I was speechless, I had nothing to say, after all, I abandoned her, but it was not out of cowardice, it was simply fear of getting involved because I am being monitored by the conspiracy, if I stayed with her I would risk her dying, but how can I say this to her?
