8 Saki Yoshida

Hito was looking at Komi who was approaching Shouko in a robotic walking style.

To anyone who does it, they would look weird, but Komi-san, she managed to pull it off gracefully.

Like how is that possible?! It's like the world itself is giving her elegance perks, as no matter what weird her actions are, they would look elegant!

Anyway, he would supervise her, he'll only help her after she gets into trouble, right now he shall wait and see if manage to pull it off.

Komi to say that she's nervous is an understatement, she could barely move her feet!

While she was nervous, it didn't stop her from moving forward, as she knew she would eventually do more of this in the future. If she cowers now, how could she make friends in the future?!

She honestly got lucky with Tadano-san, if it wasn't for her accidental slip of the tongue, he wouldn't have figured that she has a communication disorder.

Komi was now in front of Nishimiya, and the girl herself noticed her presence, now she was looking at her with an innocent look.

"I…" That was the only thing that came out of her mouth, she couldn't even form a single word!

Komi wanted to cry, but she stopped herself, she shouldn't give up yet!

Unexpected Nishimiya wrote something in her notebook and showed it to her.

( Is there anything you need, Komi-san? )

Komi started blinking at her unexpected action, and she remembered that Nishimiya-san was deaf and that's the reason why she was using a notebook to communicate.

She suddenly felt bad, unlike Nishimiya she had a reason to use a notebook to communicate, unlike her whose problem was the result of her own actions.

Nishimiya was deaf while she was not, she was frustrated at herself, she steeled herself and used her notebook to write something.

After that, she showed it to Nishimiya.

( I do, I want to be your friend. )

Nishimiya smiled after reading her words and replied.

( I'll gladly be your friend Komi-san! )

And just like that Komi's body relaxed, and was blown away by how easily she gained another friend!

She thought. 'Is making friends this easy?'

But she quickly removed those thoughts. There's no way making friends is as easy as this, she probably got lucky with Nishimiya-san as she did with Tadano-san.

Which is true for the most part, some people are just harder to befriend, as you need to be more compatible with them.

There's also befriending someone in the right place and time.

Anyway, Komi was absolutely happy with the result of her first attempt at befriending someone!

She got 2 friends and 98 more to reach her goal!

To others, it might not be a big deal, but for her, this was a huge step, all her life she was alone without friends.

All attempts she made in the past were failures, she never succeeded once but today she did, and Komi couldn't be more proud of her recent achievement.

For now, she wanted to get to know her new friend, and maybe she'll agree to eat lunch with her today.

Thus she continues to communicate with Nishimiya with her notebook.

Hito smiled at his friend's success, it seems that his help isn't needed after all, but then again he never thought Komi would fail as Shouko was just too nice of a person to refuse someone's friendship.

Still…from an outside perspective, it looks like both Komi and Shouko were exchanging notes, but in reality, they were communicating.

A unique way of communicating, a girl with a communication disorder and a deaf girl communicating, he never thought he'd see the day.

Oh? Are they going to each lunch together?

Hito felt a bit sad that they didn't invite him, but it was understandable, as both of them were excited to be friends, and he was sure that they'll get along quite well...

Now as for him, he needed to have lunch with someone asap, he didn't want to be seen as a loner.

It didn't take long for him to see his target, it was Kawasaki. He befriended her yesterday. It would be quite rude not to spend time with her.

She looks uncomfortable while eating in class, it was understandable as everyone in the classroom was eating with their friends while she wasn't, she's probably thinking it was better to eat somewhere empty.

Hito suddenly dragged his desk toward Kawasaki's place and sat down right in front of her.

"Wanna eat lunch together?"

Kawasaki's eyes widened, and he could feel her surprise. She didn't expect him to do something like this or even ask her to eat lunch with him.

However, she quickly regained her bearings and replied. "S-sure..it's not like anyone wanted to eat with me anyway…"

"Oh, I do," Hito replied with a grin.

Kawasaki glared at him for a bit and said. "Excluding you."

Hito shrugged and replied. "Fair enough, your lunch looks cute though."

Kawasaki blushed a little and said, "Thanks."

"No problem, are you the one who cooked them?" He asked curiously.

Kawasaki blushed, deepened, and hesitantly answered. "Yes…"

"Woah, your lunch is totally the opposite of the image you're giving…" Hito blurted.

"Haah? What are you talking about?" Kawasaki said with a delinquent-like tone.

"Exactly."

Kawasaki blinked at his answer. "...What?"

"You know what, Let's forget about it." Hito unboxed his lunch and Kawasaki took a peek and had an odd look on her face.

"What? What's wrong?" Hito asked genuinely confused why she looked like that when she saw his lunch.

"Uhm…doesn't your lunch have too much spice on them?"

"So?" Hito didn't understand the problem.

"What do you mean 'so'?! Your lunch is literally covered in chili powder! Including the rice!" Kawasaki almost shouted, but managed to suppress it.

Hito stared at his lunch for a moment before he realized that his lunch wasn't exactly normal.

"I see your point, it's just that I like spicy things." Hito started eating his lunch with a straight face.

Kawasaki looked uncomfortable looking at him eating his lunch, she couldn't help but say. "J-just tell me you need water.."

"Yeah, I'll keep that in mind." He was so used to this kind of spice that he barely felt anything at all.

After a minute of silence, he decided to change the topic. "So Kawasaki-san, do you have a sibling or something?"

"Kawasaki is fine, and yes I have 2 younger siblings." Kawasaki sighs.

"So you're the eldest? That's cool because I'm also the eldest of us siblings, it seems that we had something in common after all." Hito smiled at her, he didn't think that she was like him, the eldest.

"So it seems." Kawasaki returned a slight smile and after that, both of them continued talking about their siblings and started comparing them.

Both of them pretty much enjoyed the conversation as it wasn't awkward or anything, it was smooth.

Time has passed and the second day has ended. Currently, he was walking with Shouko like they did yesterday.

They communicated for a bit, then they separated, while he was on his way back home.

He suddenly felt thirsty, so he decided to go to a convenience store, to buy mineral water or something.

As he was about to go inside, he unexpectedly bumped into someone.

"Sorry!"

"S-sorry!"

Both of them looked surprised, it seems that both of them intended to apologize for what they caused, however unexpectedly both of them apologized at the same time.

Which made the girl giggle and so he did, they were laughing, it was quite a funny situation to be in.

"Again, sorry I didn't see you there." Hito smiled and apologized once more.

"No, no it was also my fault." The girl smiled.

"So, were both at fault then?"

"Agreed." The girl nodded while giggling.

"Well now that the problem is resolved, ladies first?" Hito opened the door for her.

"Giggles* thanks." The girl went inside the convenience store.

Hito went after her, and suddenly she started a conversation.

"So, what are you going to buy?"

It was a normal question, he replied while looking at the freezer in front of him.

"Water, since I'm thirsty..what about you miss?"

"Oh, Saki Yoshida, that's my name, I'm here to buy some magazines." The girl who is now known as Saki smiled.

"Tadano Hitohito, a magazine? What for?" Hito asked while getting mineral water from the freezer.

Saki blushed out of embarrassment and replied. "For beautifying tips…"

"Huh?" Hito couldn't help but look closely at Saki and continued. "Why would you need it? You look cute enough for me."

Hito said it out of honesty, he genuinely thought of her as cute.

Saki blushed at his undisguised compliment. "C-cute? I-i'm not…you must be joking…I look boring…"

Hito blinked and found it odd. Why does this girl have low self-confidence for herself, for a cute girl like her to feel like that?

"I'm not joking, Yoshida-san you are cute I don't think you need to beautify yourself."

Her blush deepened, no one called her 'cute' before, and to think a stranger that she just met today called her that.

She doesn't know what to think.

"R-really?"

"Yeah, have confidence in yourself."

And just like that, her destiny changed and Hito didn't realize he saved someone's life.

So I added Saki as I did before, and with this conversation alone the tragedy won't happen to Saki.

Now that she has a bit of self-confidence.

Hito is acting pretty confident if you noticed, that's because it has to do with the change he experienced, however, he didn't realize it yet.
