The Birth of Dark Phoenix

Ice Frost Village

It was early evening, around a quarter past four. Although the sun wasn't quite bright in the north, it was still considered during the day. The villagers had already returned from their daily activities not long ago. Shops and food vendors were still opened to accommodate the people after their busy day.

Loud chattering and laughter were heard everywhere in the village. The women were gossiping around the fire while the men were either drinking together or practicing their moves with one another. It was quite a lively and friendly scene. However, it was not the same situation near the Eternal Spring.

It was serene and the air was tranquil to the point that you could hear the soft sound of the water and the sprinkling of broken ices. Huang Li Wei and Huang Mei Lin were seen sitting down by the bank with their legs dipping into the spring.

From here, they could see the lively scene in the town if they turned around but they could care less right now. Even if people tried to shout at them or a band blazing their music, nothing would disturb the peacefulness around them.

If one looked closely, then they would find out the trick behind it. There was an invisible barrier cloaking the whole area around Eternal Spring. It was like a dome sheltering the two people and the spring inside it.

A Magic Screen was separating them from the outside. It was a bit different from a normal Magic Barrier. A Magic Screen would not only acted as a protective barrier but it could also conceal any occurrence inside it. However, if the user was a high-level martial artist or magic practitioner, he or she could also produce an illusion to fool the people outside.

"It's been five days," Huang Li Wei finally spoke up as he studied the spring.

Huang Mei Lin could only answered him with a short hum. She was also helpless. For now, they could only wait. But, Li Wei was already getting impatient. The two of them had been going back and forth to the Eternal Spring while waiting 'till midnight for the result. Still, to this day, there was no movement.

"Do you think we can trust him?"

Mei Lin couldn't help but laughed at her husband. He was really an impetuous man!

"This is already the forth time you've asked me that. And you also ask me that every single day," she said as she shook her head. "We could only trust him, but I'm sure he wouldn't cross us. We've got him hooked."

Li Wei sighed. "Right."

Just as they had finished talking, BOOM!!

A bolt of lightning exploded across the horizon, followed by another roar of angry thunderclaps, wrecking the vast horizon into chaos. The wind howled madly and the clouds turned somber and fierce, obscuring the sun as the whole sky darkened. A deep crimson color faded in from within the layer of grey clouds, fusing with the sky like a raging wildfire burning through the darkness.

An oppressive aura gushed out from underneath the eldritch crimson veil, engulfing the whole land, sending its tranquility into delirium. From every corner of the realm, one could hear the cries of vengeful spirits and the wail of the wild beasts, ringing desolation into the world. The whole scene was devastating. The equilibrium had been upset and a scar had slowly but surely emerging. A loophole!

Between the streams of fates, a single star was born, the dark horse among the sea of stars!

...

Mount Jiuhua

BANG!

The door to the main hall was slammed open. Four elders came rushing in. The two disciples who were in the hall quickly moved away and stood at the side.

"Overlord Wu!! The s-sky! Look at the sky!" said one of the elders who was donned in white robe. He dressed neatly and looked rather polish despite of his late age.

"The star chart seemed to be in disarray too! Old Mu couldn't see anything!" Another one of the elder dressed in light color robe chimed in at the same time.

"Overlord Wu!"

"Master Wu!!"

A hand was raised by the man whom the elders were addressing as Overlord Wu. He was sitting steadily while crossing his legs above the platform without any sign of panic. His left supporting his head. No one could guess his expression right now as his face was hidden behind a ghastly mask. With a single movement from this man, the four elders went quiet.

"I know," a deep and clear voice escaped from the man's mouth. It sounded manly but overbearing at the same time. With a dominating aura surrounding his presence, he sat there looking formidable. He waved his hand. "Leave for now."

The elders could only nod and reluctantly complied with his request. They left the hall but were still discussing among themselves as they closed the door.

Behind his ghastly mask, Overlord Wu's eyes darkened after the elders had left and his forehead wrinkled. Despite that, he still managed to sound calm, "Lian Hua."

A young man around the age of 15 or 16 came from the side and kneel before him. "Master."

"If anyone ask, tell them your master is in a close door meditation."

Before he even finished his sentence, he had already vanished.

...

Mount Wugai

A man dressed in white robe was in the middle of meditating inside a simple yet elegant courtyard. The entry had been sealed by a complicated spell as he was now in a crucial stage. However, right at this moment, he stopped and snapped open his eyes. He could sense the rapidly increasing of dark energy in the air. It was a very dense aura to the point that his body became alert.

He squinted his eyes. He waved his sleeve and the spell blocking the entry was lifted. With a 'swoosh', a man draped in a black cloak had stood beside him.

The man in white robe got up. Just at this moment, the sunlight had just came in from the entry, it automatically highlighted the two men's distinct aura as they stood face to face. One was wearing a ghastly mask and one was wearing a silvery mask covering only half of his face. One had a cold and distant nature and the other carried himself gracefully in an elegant manner. It was charming and pleasing to see.

"Overlord Wu," said the man in white robe.

Overlord Wu nodded in greeting. "Overlord Shen."

"I guess we both feel it." Overlord Shen put his hands on his back as he walked towards the window. The scenery outside was still the same, chaotic. The sky as of right now had turned bloody red, appearing ominous and grim. The thunderbolts were still gracing the sky with its mighty roar, conquering the vast horizon with its majestic strikes. While, evil energy continuously pouring out under the oppressive aura.

Another 'swoosh' was heard and a man in dark blue robe appeared before them. "Three. I feel it too."

Overlord Wu fixed his eyes at the situation outside and he couldn't help but clenched his fist. "Mo Zhao, is it him?" He asked, gritting his teeth.

The man in dark blue robe frowned. He fell into deep thought upon hearing Overlord Wu's question. This man was Mo Zhao or known as Overlord Zhao by the public.

"It couldn't be, could it? He was heavily injured. Even if he could heal, this was too fast." Despite that, Overlord Zhao sounded unsure. Deep down, even he could sense his energy inside this dreadful and menacing aura. But he just didn't want to admit it. Logically, it was just impossible!

Overlord Wu raised his voice and his aura became even more intimidating, "It is him! It has to be him! I could sense it. Either way, we have to stop this. The aura is too much for the people who had under Master Rank spiritual power."

Before, Overlord Zhao could answer him, Overlord Shen interrupted them, "First, it is not him. I can sense his energy too, but this... it is a lot more powerful and the aura is foreign." He then turned around and face the other two overlords. He took out his out his fan and spread it out in front of him. "You two, trying feeling it again."

Both Overlord Zhao and Overlord Wu frowned. With Overlord Shen statement, they began to poke on the dense dark energy around them again. Overlord Shen was the most sensitive one among them and he had a slightly higher spiritual power as well. That was why, they trusted his judgement.

After a short seconds, Overlord Zhao nodded. "Overlord Shen is correct. I sense some other aura even more daunting mixed inside it. This... it is strange. I can feel the purity of this aura."

Just as he said that, an enormous golden seal with ancient writings on it and ten striking black symbols decorating the inner circle, was formed on the sky. A huge black lightning bolt emerged from within the thick layer of grey clouds and collided with the seal.

BOOM!

The seal shattered like a broken glass and the black lightning bolt descended somewhere on the land with the speed of light, unseen even by the experts. As the lightning bolt landed, the ground trembled fiercely. With a loud slam, it exploded with a brilliant light and it swapped the whole land, enveloping it in its extremely high intensity light.

All the people without exception, felt the impact and their blood boiled madly. A lot of people immediately spurt out a mouthful of blood. However, without their knowledge, all the impurities inside their bodies had been purified.

Sparks of light shot to the sky and the thunders immediately calmed down. The grey clouds vanished and the blood red color was replaced with a beautiful clear blue sky, even more enchanting than before. The air turned crystal clear and as the bright light faded away, all the people could see was, a magnificent rainbow across the sky. It sat there dazzling the crowds!
