An Offer

Li Fei braced herself and she returned to normal again. She bravely moved forward and stared at those pair of ruby eyes.

"Who are you?"

A man's voice echoed in laughter as an answer. It sent chill down her spine. Li Fei furrowed her eyebrows. It seemed that it wouldn't be easy to pass this guy. She was practically a joke to the other party.

After a series of laughter, the other party stopped. It became quiet again however, not knowing how, the temperature seemed to lower even more. Li Fei's undernourished body trembled in this icy coldness.

"Come," a soft and yet, enchanting voice echoed. A dark fog flowed out from the corner and condensed into the shape of a hand. It beckoned Li Fei to move closer. "Come closer, little one."

Three black lines appeared vividly at Li Fei's forehead. She was puzzled. From the same direction, just now, came a different voice. It was supposed to be a man's voice, but now, a woman's? However, Li Fei's instinct told her that both came from the same person. The way the other party spoke was still the same.

Li Fei folded her arms in front of her chest. "Why should I come? I'm not a servant who's at your beck and call."

"Ku...ku...ku. Weren't you one before? Xian Er?"

'Thud', her heart fell. He...he knew. Li Fei took a step back and had her guard up.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Hmm...how troublesome. This one is noisy."

The voice changed again. This time, it was like the voice of a few children who spoke at the same time. "Well then, I shall come forward."

Li Fei's heart slammed against her chest, hard. It was a lie if she said she wasn't nervous. Who wouldn't when you were chained down and with malnourished body on top of that, while you faced a stranger in the dark that somehow made all the hair on her body stood up.

From the black fog, a small and slender foot emerged and took a step forward. Then, another foot came out and stepped in front of it. And finally, 'it' showed itself.

A young girl around ten years old with skin as pale as the death and hair as black as the night sky appeared from the dark corner. Her dark red eyes stared evilly at Li Fei. A couple of dark veins were vividly visible on her hands, under her eyes, and her collarbone which was extended towards her neck. She was dressed in this beautiful lace gown that fell just above her knees. Despite its exquisite dolly design, there were marks of wet black substance on her white dress that was currently dripping down from the hem of her dress.

The little girl smiled at Li Fei. However, it was the most dreary scene Li Fei had ever watched in her whole life. Even a psychopath, a thief, a loony, or a mafia boss who she faced before never gave her this kind of eeriness.

The dark fog flowed forward and lingered around the little girl. It surrounded her like a protective aura, emitting dark energy filled with intense hatred. Like a hollow of bottomless abyss that seemed to hypnotize the eyes of those who cast their gaze upon it.

Right at that moment, Li Fei felt like there was a layer of mist that was slowly invading her mind. She blinked a couple of times and shook her head, trying to stay clear headed.

"What did you do to me?" Li Fei asked as she scowled at the little girl.

The little girl tilted her head and smiled wickedly. She waved her little hand and Li Fei's mind immediately cleared up. The black fog swayed a little and flowed down steadily to the ground.

"Just a little test," she said while scrutinizing Li Fei from head to toe once again, as if she was double checking a product that she was going to purchase. Her voice was still the same like a few children echoing together.

"Not bad. Your soul is indeed as powerful as they said. In fact, the most powerful one I've ever encountered."

The corner of her lips began to lift upwards. "Furthermore..," she tapped her index finger on her thin lips. "You possessed a strong internal energy."

Li Fei raised one of her eyebrow. "How did you know that?"

"From the test."

Li Fei became speechless.

"Ugh..yes, I know. But how? You didn't seem to do anything."

The little girl chuckled. "Didn't you feel dizzy earlier? That was me attacking your soul with dark energy."

And yet, she didn't die immediately. The little girl lowered her gaze. Earlier, she attacked Li Fei with 90 percent of her power. At first, she thought 10 percent was already enough because she saw that Li Fei was already weak. Her body wouldn't be able to withstand her dark energy. But, there wasn't any effect, so she raised it again to 20 percent and still nothing, not until she let out 90 percent of her power. Even that only made her dizzy.

The little girl smirked. Interesting! This child didn't die. She was thinking of just killing her despite the contract. She was the mightiest among her kind. Why should she help a worthless being like human? Yet, this tiny insect had successfully piqued her curiosity. After thousands of years in existence, nothing had ever attracted her like this.

'Hmm...very well then.'

Li Fei's back was drenched in cold sweat. How? She didn't even sense this little girl attacking her. She clenched her fist.

"What do you want?" Li Fei asked.

"Heh...," she chuckled, "It's the opposite, My Dear."

Li Fei furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"It's you who want something from me."

"Uh-uh, nope! I don't want anything from you," Li Fei answered. Why would she request something from this devil? She would certainly be in the losing side if she had a deal with it. She had nothing to offer and she was also currently in a weak state.

The little girl shook her head in amusement. "No. You would want what I offer you."

Li Fei raised an eyebrow. Now, she was curious. "And what would it be?" She asked.

"A way out from your reincarnation cycle."
