4 This Lifetime

"Fei'er!"

Lin Xiaomeng was extremely shocked when he saw her rushing to look for a mirror and once he heard the loud crash and saw the pieces of broken mirror on the floor, his worries doubled.

However, this wasn't the reason why he suddenly called his granddaughter's name. Just after he saw the glass shattering on the floor, he soon watched Lin Xiaofei falling next and if he didn't have the quick response from his military days, his granddaughter would have fallen already on the shards of glass.

Lin Xiaofei lay on his arms unconscious. Her lips that were usually red were now pale and white, and her snow-white skin turned even paler as time passed by. Lin Xiaomeng immediately called the servants to help him.

"Someone! Hurry come and help me Fei'er fainted!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as he gently shook the young girl in his arms but his granddaughter's eyes were tightly closed.

"How is my granddaughter, Doctor Fang?" Lin Xiaomeng worriedly asked as Doctor Fang washed his hands on a water basin before wiping them off on a towel from a servant who offered it to him.

Doctor Fang was the Lin family's doctor and a great personality in the world of medicine. Many have tried to become his disciple but he didn't accept anyone.

He was a traveler before he became the Lin family's doctor. He journeyed different empires, treated many illnesses, and was even offered as the imperial physician. However, he refused the offer because he promised his great friend and benefactor, Lin Xiaomeng, that he will repay him with his life and be of service to only him and the Lin family.

"Young Lady Lin has experienced a traumatic dream and gave tremendous stress on her body hence, she collapses once awake. After having a cold in this weather, it is a miracle her cold was gone but, I cannot guarantee that the young lady would be able to go back as she was before." Doctor Fang explained politely.

"What does that mean?" Lin Xiaomeng was stunned when he heard the Doctor's words but was somewhat confused.

Doctor Fang sighed and stroked his white beard as he continued to explain, "The heat must have gone to her head and thus, she will be quite confused at some things and act strangely but this strange behavior won't stay too long for as long as the young lady is healthy again."

Lin Xiaomeng nodded his head in agreement with his statement since he also didn't know the reason why Lin Xiaofei was so shocked when she saw her face in the mirror that she even collapsed.

What did she see? Lin Xiaomeng couldn't help but ask himself but didn't get an answer as he looked at his unconscious granddaughter.

"Then, I thank Doctor Fang for coming here and please, do stay here until the storm is gone and my granddaughter's health has improved." Lin Xiaomeng said before turning to Head Servant An, "Go and arrange a place for Doctor Fang to stay."

Head Servant Fang nodded his head and left with two other servants while Lin Xiaomeng pulled Doctor Fang out of the room to talk more of his granddaughter's condition.

When there was no one inside the room, the young lady on the bed suddenly opened her eyes. A pair of steady and calm pitch-black eyes soon stared ahead.

Earlier, she was so shocked at the revelation of truth and the reality of being rebirthed inside the young lady of the Lin family that she collapsed. However, after waking up and learning that everything was real, she couldn't express the shock she was feeling and turned speechless.

How could this happen?

She died after undergoing such tortures for months inside that underground dungeon thus, Xiaofei believed that she would soon go to the afterlife but who would have thought that once she opened her eyes, she became Lin Xiaofei.

Lin Xiaofei was the pearl of the Lin family, there was no reason for her to die unless something was done to her behind the scenes and died without anyone noticing it.

The most questionable thing was why did her soul come inside Lin Xiaofei's body. Was it because they shared the same name?

Xiaofei already accepted her death and wants nothing but to pass on. Yet, the Heavens seemed to have played a joke on her and transferred her soul inside the empty shell of Lin Xiaofei.

Bai Lu looked at her young miss who was blankly staring at the garden behind the courtyard. These past few days, as Lin Xiaofei's servant who has served around her closely, Bai Lu could tell that something has changed from Lin Xiaofei.

That time when she finally woke up after collapsing, Lin Xiaofei started to ask weird questions from the servants who were closely working around the previous owner. Who she was with, what she was doing, and what kind of words were said.

The maids who served under her, Bai Lu and Su Tang, were also confused by her question but still dutifully gave her an answer.

Both maidservants felt something was wrong and felt that they needed to tell Old Master Lin and an hour later, Doctor Fang was called to check on their young miss.

Unfortunately, Doctor Fang didn't find anything unordinary aside from the fact that Lin Xiaofei was still behaving strangely.

He had met the young miss of the Lin Family and knew that she had a rude personality and looked at everyone like they were someone inferior to her. Even Doctor Fang who was respected by the family didn't escape from her rudeness, but then her state at this moment looked like she became someone else.

She only sat silently as he checked up on her condition and didn't make a fuss. But her eyes were what gave Doctor Fang a feeling that seemed to grab his heart tightly.

Lin Xiaofei already knew the outcome of Doctor Fang's analysis of her condition. After all, no matter how much-skilled Doctor Fang was, he could not see through a person's soul and tell that there was someone else residing inside Lin Xiaofei.

"Young miss, the old master has sent some Fire Rat cloak over to avoid catching a cold again." Bai Lu said as she put the cloak over Lin Xiaofei's shoulder. However, Lin Xiaofei didn't respond and only looked outside.

Outside the window, the snow was falling and the entire pond near the garden was frozen over that even a stray cat wouldn't dare walk on it.

Lin Xiaofei looked calmly at the scenery before her but her hands formed a tight fist, her nails digging and creating a crescent moon-like marks in her palms.

"This lifetime, I will make everyone pay for it."
