50 Leaving Chaos Behind

The young girl paused and was startled at what Lin Xiaofei chose to pick among the slaves in the cages, "You want to buy 'that'?"

Lin Xiaofei nodded her head, "Yes."

The young girl had a troubled look on her face as she scratched her nose, "Young miss, 'that' is reserved for the auction in our next destination. We can't sell it."

Lin Xiaofei frowned at the way the young girl spoke of the golden-haired boy like he was some kind of thing that didn't need to be identified as a human. Using 'that and 'it' to address the boy was insulting and very rude, however, Lin Xiaofei didn't want to waste her breath arguing and correcting the young girl.

People with rare physical appearance will always be viewed and treated differently. Discrimination will always be present at any time and in any place. That's why Lin Xiaofei could understand why the young girl was reluctant.

No matter how much injustice these people have suffered as they were kept inside these cages, Lin Xiaofei didn't want to meddle with it since she didn't have the skills to do that and even if she did, it was not her battle to fight.

"This…" the young girl sucked her breath as she looked at Lin Xiaofei with a terrified look on her face.

She was shocked that a young lady would possess a huge amount of money. A ten thousand silver banknote was already considered a large amount of money, but a stack of gold banknotes was hard to come by.

"I doubt you can raise the price for this young boy in the next auction. He's so thin and small. There wouldn't be anyone who would try so hard to buy a weak toy." Lin Xiaofei smiled underneath the veil covering her face.

Thinking about it, their next destination was a small city from the West Tianchang and there wouldn't be wealthy customers who were willing to buy their slaves with the same amount the young lady before her was willing to pay.

With a smile, the young girl slowly reached her hands towards the stack of banknotes in Lin Xiaofei's hand, but Lin Xiaofei took a step back and avoided her small hands.

"I'll only give this to you if I can get the boy."

The young girl bit her lips and looked around, "Young miss, are you really sure you will buy that thing? As I can see, you must be a distinguished young lady, and having that thing around would be too much for you to handle." The young girl tried to persuade her even after seeing the banknotes.

Lin Xiaofei raised an eyebrow and leaned forward, "It's not for you to say whether I can handle it or not. On the contrary, the one who won't be able to handle losing this chance is you and not me."

"I'll add another ten thousand gold." Lin Xiaofei turned around and said, "Take it or lose this opportunity."

Lin Xiaofei walked out of the cottage.

She saw Lin Shen Yu walking back and forth the front of the tent and looked extremely worried.

"Cousin." She said as she reached him.

Hearing her voice Lin Shen Yu looked at Lim Xiaofei and pointed at her, "You! Running off to everywhere without even telling me! Do you know what would happen if something happened to you!"

Lin Shen Yu wanted to continue scolding her but he saw that she was not alone and was holding someone's hand and paused.

Because the person who was holding his cousin's hand was wearing a black robe over his face, Lin Shen Yu didn't get to see what this person looked like but he deduced that this person was a child due to how small this person was compared to his cousin.

He pointed at the child holding his cousin's hand and said, "Who is that?"

As expected, Lin Xiaofei didn't answer him as she walked away with the child still holding her hand.

And instead of returning inside the tent, Lin Xiaofei decided to walk the path they took when they went there.

"Where are you going?" Lin Shen Yu asked her as he followed her, "Aren't you here to buy something in the auction house?"

Lin Shen Yu followed and accompanied Lin Xiaofei since he was bored, but he didn't expect that she would come to an auction house.

However, after coming in and seeing the two batches of items that were brought out in the stage, Lin Xiaofei didn't look at them and was uninterested. She even dared to disappear in front of him and return with a child!

In the end, was she really planning to buy anything or was she messing with him?

After a few minutes of walking, Lin Shen Yu heard noises and screams behind him and felt that there was something wrong.

Pausing from his steps, he slowly turned around. His eyes enlarging as he caught sight of the chaos behind.

Black smokes rising above, people screaming and frantically trying to flee, and the yellow flames starting to engulf the tent, everything was in an uproar.

He turned his head toward where his cousin was standing and regretted doing so after seeing that amused glint in her eyes as he was sure that she was smiling underneath that veil.
