2 Chapter 1

I gently hold Jade as I descend down through the clouds and to the Earth planes, going to the field where I would meet Leroy. Seeing that the field had a black circle of burnt grass, I gathered that the figure I saw was him, awaiting my arrival.

"What took you so long? I thought that Angels were supposed to be punctual, especially you, Lady Astrid, leader of the guardian angels. Now what do you need to show me? What's that you've got there?" I unfold the pastel purple blanket covering little Jades face, and show Leroy the baby. "What's this? Why are you showing me a child? Whose is it?" I gave him a serious look, but he still didn't get it. "What? Have you stolen a child and want me to deal with it? You really have turned to the dark side." He let out a dark chuckle as I just stay stood there. "Seriously Astrid, whose is it." Seeing that he won't get it any time soon, I told him. "She's ours."

I could see Leroy go quiet as he tried to see if he had misheard or if I was tricking him. "You're joking, right? She can't be, it's impossible! No child can be born of Angel and Devil and live to see light! Please say this is a joke." "I'm afraid not Leroy. I've known for a while but decided to not saying anything, knowing it would be a still born, or so I thought. When Jade was born, she was most certainly alive, her cries proved it." "Wait, you named her?" "Well what was I supposed to do? You weren't there and I can't leave a child without a name!" "So who else knows?" "Just me, and you now."

I watch as Leroy starts to pace about, thinking of what to do. He stops and turns to me. "Can I hold her?" I was hesitant at first, but decided to pass her over. As he examined Jade, I explained further. "The reason I asked to meet here instead of your castle like the usual is because Jade can't live in Heaven or the underworld." "Are you suggesting that we desert her on Earth?! With humans?!" "Well what else do you suggest?! Obviously we won't leave her completely, I'll be her guardian angel and monitor her powers while you can keep track of her spirit points. We just need to decide who to trust her with." "Why not give her to an orphanage? I'm not giving her to a Human for them to parent her." "Ok, understood. I'll take her today." "Why you? You've had her for longer and I've barely seen her! Why can't I?" "Because you will most likely get into a fight with the humans and put Jade in danger." "Fine, but can I look after her for a little longer?" "The longer she stays with us, the more danger she is in. Jade needs to go now, no exceptions." I see him look at Jade with a hurt look, before kissing her forehead and passing her back over to me. "Ok, take her. I understand." Before I can reply, he disappears, returning to his homeland. I sigh before looking down into Jades eyes, and taking flight once again.

With wings hidden and a dark grey cloak on, I hold Jade close to my chest. Waiting for the coast to be clear, I go up to the door of the chosen orphanage. Knocking on the light blue door, I place Jade, who was wrapped in a soft blanket, at the foot of it along with the letter explaining that I will return at her 18th birthday, along with a necklace that held a sealing gem on a silver chain to stop her powers. With any luck, she shall keep it close to her as she grows older. I plant a light kiss of her forehead as a fare well before going to take cover behind the wall of the house.
