24 Chapter 24

After Melody left his office, Damian felt empty. Watching her leave without saying a word to him was hurtful but there was nothing that he could do. He did not want to force himself into anything. He had promised to wait and that was what he would do no matter how difficult it would be.

Walking to his desk he took his seat and began the day's work when the door opened and a man's silhouette came into view. Immediately the hand that was the pen halted and a frown came across his face and disappeared in a blink of an eye.

His already sour mood became even more sour seeing the man walk in. He gave off a bone-chilling aura that could be felt even outside of the office. He stared into the eyes of the man with coldness as he came closer to his desk yet his face was blank with no emotion.

"I believe it is courtesy to knock before entering someone else's office". Damian said, irritation evident in his tone.

"Nice to see you too little bother". The man, Ace Frost and the elder brother of Damian said with sarcasm and pulled a seat for himself, making himself comfortable and ignoring the cold stare from Damian.

"Indeed, the pleasure of all yours". Damian retaliated to his sarcasm. "Now tell me, why are you here?"

"It's been a while since a last saw my baby brother, so I just came to check on you and how, you are doing? ". Ace said and shrugging his shoulders in a carefree manner.

"If that is all, then you can leave. As you can see, I am a busy man". Damian said, not minding how he sounded. He did not want to see this elder brother of his and the man knew that. His aim coming was solely to annoy him.

"Why, don't you want me here?" he asked feigning hurt in his eyes.

"No" Damian answered curtly. "Now stop beating around the bushes and state why you are here". Damian said with impatience.

"Nothing much. I just came to let you know that your big brother has got your back. He is watching you closely". Ace said casually, but his words had an underlying meaning in them.

To the ears of others, his words sounded like that of a concerned and caring brother but Damian knew better. He has heard the hidden meaning of his words and his blood was boiling within.

He had a stoic expression on his face but the chilling aura that he gave off told the story better.

The temperature of Starlight dropped to near zero. The staff in the building were shivering wondering what had happened that has made their President this temperamental early in the morning.

Ezekiel and Lloyd felt the temperature drop and hurried to the President's office only to Ace there. Immediately understanding what was happening they walked inside and stood on both sides of Damian.

"Ah. I see that your entourage is here!" Ace exclaimed. He had a playful smirk on his face when he saw them walking in.

Ezekiel had a serious expression on his face while Lloyd reciprocated the playfulness that the man showing.

"Why are you here, Ace?" Damian asked once again with his cold gaze focused on his face of Ace. Moving his gaze a little away from him, he looked at Ezekiel who nodded and left the room.

Ace was not sure what that gesture was for but he knew he had to leave and be more careful next time as if to confirm his thought, Damian's phone dinged with a message and he scanned through it.

A cold smirk surfaced on Damian's lips after reading the message sent by Ezekiel. He looked at Ace who has lost his composure and coldly stated, "In the next five seconds if you don't leave say goodbye to Sam".

"You wouldn't dare!" Ace challenged.

"You now four seconds". Damian said nonchalantly.

Ace shot to his feet glared at Damian with murderous intent and turned around to leave with hurried steps and a clenched fist when he got no reaction from Damian.

"Keep a closer eye on him, and watch Sam closely". Damian said to Lloyd who had been silently standing beside him.

"I know," Lloyd said before turning around to sit in one of the empty seats. "Why would he think that coming here like that would not be suspicious? I mean, knowing your history together it is quite easy to guess. Or was he trying to divert your attention while Sam did whatever they have come here for?"

"That is for another day, for now, I need you to join Ezekiel and fix the mess first," Damian said and Lloyd rose to his feet.

He left the office as well and headed down the corridor to where Ezekiel was.

When Ace walked out of the office, he met Melody on his out, Melody's cologne got his attention and stopped for a while to study her for a while. He could swear that he perceived a similar cologne on Damian.

He did not have the time to ask any questions. As he needed to save Sam from Ezekiel.

Damian's two friends are opposite in character and temperament.

While Ezekiel was always looking serious and almost as indifferent as Damian, Lloyd was a carefree guy who easily get along with anyone. Together they both balance Damian in a good way. But one thing that he was sure of was that they were ruthless when they were offended.

On his way going he saw Ezekiel walking with a skinny man beside him with his hand tucked inside his pants pocket like he was strolling along the sand of the beach with a skinny man of average height cowering in fear beside him.

As he came closer, his eyes turned sharp and dangerous as he started at Ace and uttered coldly, "Take him with you today, he was not able to do anything before I caught up to him. The next time this repeats itself, we won't be this liberal, you of all people should know what I mean".

Ace stared back at him with an unwavering gaze of his own. Seeing that the staring contest won't get them anywhere, Ace gave up and called Sam to him and they left without a word to each other.

While Same was worried that he might get fired any time soon, Ace was furiously just seeing Damian him sitting on that seat as president and not him.
