The day slowly faded and soon it was time to close work. Melody packed up her bag and was ready to leave. She stepped out of her office only to meet Damian standing and leaning against the wall outside her office. Startled she took a step back seeing him standing there.
"President Frost, Why are you standing here? You should have come in if you had an assignment for me." Melody said. She did not see why he will be standing outside of her office waiting for her when he could have just walked inside and said whatever he wanted and leave with no trouble at all.
"Are you ready to go home?" he asked ignoring her question. "Well... Yes, I am but, why are you here?" she asked again. "I am here to give you a lift home". He replied casually.
"You are not my chauffeur, so you don't have to bother with it, President Frost." Melody said professionally. She did not want what happened earlier to ever repeat itself. So she has to always remind him that they are just a secretary and her boss.
"I would love to be your chauffeur at any time all you have to do is to ask". He replied and Melody was lost for words. Having her boss as her chauffeur, how does that sound in his head? But seeing the innocent and sincere look on his face she gave in. How could she refuse him when he was being like this?
"Alright... But I won't be heading home directly". Melody said and Damian nodded. He felt sad that he won't get to know where she lives but at least he gets to ride with her.
Soon they were inside Damian's car and headed out of Starlight. On their way, Melody texted Diana to tell her that she was free for the day. She got a reply immediately after sending her message.
[Meet me at the sky restaurant let's talk]. Melody smiled and wrote back to her [Roger that. I am on my way] and send it. Feeling someone's eyes on her, she turned to look at the man beside her and gave an awkward smile to him.
Damian looked at the girl who was ignoring him and focusing on her phone feeling helpless. He remembered what she told him that she has given up on love and it pained him that he had to struggle for her affection.
He started wondering what may have caused her to give up on love. Did someone hurt her in the past? If so then who could that be? The urge to know her more resurfaced in his heart. He longed for her love but he knew that for that to happen he has to know about her past so he will know how to approach the situation properly.
She has locked her heart and she isn't ready to open it to her phone drawing Damian's attention back from his thoughts to her. Melody glanced at her phone and saw that it was a text from Smith. She opened it to read and when she was done she made a call to him. Smith answered the phone on the very first ring.
"Boss!" he greeted. "See me the moment I get home" she paused and heard Smith respond before she continued, "Bring me to them by the weekend I will like to meet them personally".
Melody said with an authoritative and commanding voice which got the attention of both the driver and Damian on her. "Understand boss". Smith said and Melody disconnected the call after that without saying anything more.
Damian could swear on his life that had heard the man over the phone address Melody as 'boss' at that moment his interest was piqued. Though the phone was not on loudspeaker he could still hear what the other person was saying. He listened as she commanded and also heard the response from the other party and once again the word 'boss' was heard which confirmed to him that he heard clearly.
He turned to her with a questioning gaze, and when she saw him she smiled at him and said, "I was talking to a friend, I hope I wasn't being rude to you, President Frost".
"No, you were not rude to me". He answered her still staring at her. She didn't mind his stares anymore as she has seen that for two days now. "Where do I drop you? Damian asked.
"I will meet Diana at Sky restaurant so I will like you to drop me there". Melody said and Damian nodded and gazed at the driver who nodded as well seeing his boss look at him from the rearview mirror.

In another part of Empire City, a woman could be seen pacing back and forth in a room with a phone in her ear. The woman was none other than Scarlett. After her encounter with Melody at the mall the previous day she has been restless.
She has tried calling that number since then but it was not going through. The man she was calling had been out of the country for a business meeting for a few days now but she was able to reach him before so why was it now that she had something important to tell him that his number was not connecting?
She tried for the umpteenth time and finally, she could hear it ringing. After several rings, the call got connected.
"Hello, Scarlett!" A calm voice echoed through the phone which annoyed her rather than calming her.
"What happened to your phone and why have my calls not been connecting all that while?" she yelled temporarily forgetting the reason she was calling him in the first place.
"I have been busy since yesterday, and my phone was on do not disturb mode so I did not see your calls". The man replied with patience in his voice but then remembered that the woman would never call him unless she has requested to ask of him or she has bad news to deliver.
Thinking that way he asked, "What is your request this time, I know you did not call because you were worried for me". Hearing him say that Scarlett remembered what she had forgotten.
"I have something important to tell you that is why I have tried to reach an uncle but none of you were responding". She said in annoyance. "What is this important thing you have to tell Uncle and me?" the man asked.
"I saw Melody at the mall yesterday". She said and the line grew silent with no words coming from either side.
"Are you sure it was Melody you saw and not you assuming things?" the man asked, his voice coming out stern the calmness from before seem to go out the window at the mention of the name 'Melody'.
"Yes, I am sure, Gale. I spoke with her. I know it was her, and she did not deny it either". Scarlett replied. Silence fell again for some time before Gale spoke, " I will return tomorrow and check things out myself, you should call Uncle and tell him what you have just told me". He said and she replied, " Ok. I will do that right away " and disconnected the call.
