1 The accident

One look at the injury and I knew dad wasn't going to be riding for a long time. His knee cap was broken in half and his leg was twisted in unimaginable ways.

He looked at me with such gentleness in his eyes, like he cared about nothing else. "We start in two months", he says giving me a heart warming smile.

I knew exactly what he meant, but I was still terrified to the core. My dad was a famous racer. Not just any kind of racer, a derby racer. A good one to be exact, he had won forty two derby races since he started.

A couple weeks ago, he bet his own hotel enterprise. He thought thought that with the first place money he could expand his gainings. But one small misplaced footing and good bye career.

*Two months later*

"No Charlotte, your doing it wrong", my dad says for the fourth time since we started. "I'm sorry, it's not my fault that I'm not a professional", I say back. My dad came back home yesterday and he was already training me.

"Okay let's take a quick break", he says giving me an apologetic smile. As I drank some water my dad got a phone call. I don't know exactly what they said but my dad seemed mad and frustrated.

"What happened", I asked. "My friend can't train you while I go to the meet and greet", he said. "It's okay", I say relieved.

"Don't worry, I have another friend who can teach you, he was actually my first bet but he wasn't here a couple weeks ago", he says also relieved.

"He's on his way", he says while texting someone. A few minutes later the roar of an engine came whirling through our front gates.

"That's Dylan your coach for the next three months", says my dad giving me, once again another smile.

"Dylan, come meet Charlotte", says my dad. The driver got of his bike and stalked over to us. He extended his arm and shook my hand.

"Hey, the names Dylan", he said taking off his helmet. He was a handsome guy, didn't look older than 23 with curly jet black hair.

"Hi, the names Charlotte", I say coping his introduction. He smiles and hands me a helmet,"Ready to ride".

"Or die trying", I say smiling back at him. Even though I'd only just met this guy I felt like I trusted him....or so I thought.
