4 Chapter 3

The next morning when I regained my senses, I tried recalling what happened to me last night and how I get back home, but nothing.

"Oh, my Child! How are you feeling? Do you feel any kind of pain? Why didn't you listened to me last night? Do you know how worried we all were? Despite me telling you not to go into those forests, why did you go there?" Granny, who was sitting next to me, started questioning me.

I tried getting up but, she stopped me, eyeing me to lie down.

"Granny, I apologize for my mistake. But I can't remember how I came back here." And why I fainted.

Before she could reply to me, dad entered my room. I was surprised, that person, my father, who never in his entire life had entered this room, my room, is here just to check on me. For the first time, he is worried about me.

But the happy bubble formed in my mind burst in the next second.

"Mom, I have something to talk to Eva, in private. So could you please give us a moment?" Dad was staring at me with his blazing eyes.

The moment granny stepped outside the room, closing the door behind, dad started yelling at me. "Have you lost your mind? Yesterday only your marriage got fixed, and you're still doing your childish act. I'm ashamed of myself that I raised you, but your behavior is still, like your mother, rebellious. You disgusting child!

Thanks to my good deeds, that such a high profile marriage proposal came to you, or else who could have agreed to marry such a cripple like you. So start behaving like a responsible member of this pack. I'm warning you for the last time, if something like this happens next time, I'm going to disown you and throw you out of this pack. If you want to spend your left days with this pack before marriage, then stop your arbitrary decisions." And with that, he stomped outside my room.

I didn't know when tears started flowing down my cheeks. How can dad be so ruthless to his own daughter? And comparing me with that lady who left me alone here in this hell, and ran away with her lover to enjoy her life, disgusting woman.

I started to feel that now there is only one way to get out of this hell, and that path goes through Connor.

But one thing was still bothering me. Did my dad mention me being a cripple from birth to Connor? Because who in the right mind will accept me as his Luna. I know this marriage is an agreement for an ally, but still, why could someone chose me, leaving those beautiful she-wolves out there to spoil his whole life.

No, I have decided. Before marriage, I must meet Connor alone and will clear out all my thoughts with him. But the issue was, he was a High Alpha, and without an appointment, no one can meet him.

Should I call him? But I don't have his number, and I'm damn sure he will not be available on social media.

After running through multiple ways to get near him in my mind, I finally decided to meet him directly tonight. If his Beta or any pack member tries to stop me and informs my dad! Then I'm literally dead.

It was too risky, but I can't jump into a relationship without letting the other person know about me completely.

Fine. If anyone tries to stop me, I can play the trump card, that soon I'll be going to be their Luna. And that way, they will take me directly to Connor.

I was so eager to meet him that I was watching the time again and again, but the stupid time was running slower than usual today.

As the evening waned and everyone went to sleep in their respective rooms after dinner, my adventurous night began.

After checking that everyone is asleep, I sneaked out of the house.

Connor's territory was next to our neighboring river, which flows as a border for both the packs. So it was easier for me to sneak there, just by crossing the bridge.

Just I was entering Connor's territory, a wolf from his pack caught me off-guard.

"Hey, girl! Who are you? Don't you know trespassing into another territory is regarded as treason? You must have genuine reasons for your actions, or else you will be beheaded." A tanned – muscular wolf, who seemed to be the guard of the pack questioned me with a loud growl.

Oh, Common. Do you think you can scare me with your petty growl?

"I'm Eva, Crescent Moon pack's Alpha Augustin daughter. Soon to be your Luna. So if you don't mind, could you assist me in his place."

"We didn't have any prior notice that you are coming to visit Alpha, and that too this late. So, I'm asking you for the last time, tell me the truth, who are you and what's your motive for entering our territory." He again growled, this time a little louder to scare me.

"What's happening here, and who is this trespasser?" Another muscular man, from whom I was getting the vibe of a Beta, approached us with three more wolves following him. I guessed that the guard who was questioning me earlier was confused from my introduction and have called his Beta through mind link telepathy as a backup.

(The pack members can communicate with each other using their mind links, a gifted characteristic of wolves. They can locate their members if in trouble. And only those who are mated to each-other can feel the emotions of their loved or mated ones, with telepathy.)

But I was not going to step back tonight, not without meeting Connor. "Listen, for the second time, I'm introducing myself. I'm Eva, daughter of Crescent Moon pack's Alpha Augustin. And the reason for me trespassing into your territory is, I want to meet Alpha Connor, whom I'm engaged and soon going to get married."

This was getting frustrating to keep identifying myself every time a new member comes here.

"Greetings, Miss Eva. I apologize for the interrogation by my fellow brother, but we didn't get any prior notice of your arrival. Whatever message you want to convey to Alpha, you can say it to me without hesitation. I'm his Beta, Phillip."

Finally, someone sensible came to rescue me from here and hopes he takes me to his Alpha. "Hello, Phillip. Nothing as such important is there. I just wanted to meet your Alpha alone before our mating ceremony. I tried to contact him but then realized I don't even have his number. So could you please take me to his place?"

"I'm sorry, Miss Eva, Alpha is currently busy with his works and doesn't like to get disturbed by anyone. I could give you his number if that's fine with you. But meeting him right now is not possible. Hope you understand, it's not in my hand." Phillip replied politely and gestured me to hand him my cell phone.

With no way left, I finally gave up the idea of meeting Connor today. But, tried comforting myself, thinking at least I'm going get his personal number.

After getting the number from Phillip's, I returned back home, disappointed and, sneaked back into my room.

Should I call him now? My disappointment was turning into anger. How could he do this to me? Was he so busy that he didn't even have the time to meet his future wife? I wanted to call him right now and complain about his behavior towards me. But then I calmed myself, thinking that he is a High Alpha, he must have lots of work in his hands, and it's not wise able to disturb him with my petty complaints.
