6 The Best Birthday Present Pt. 6

Once Acid was done flinging... well... acid, the wyvern roared again and made a beeline to Lord Happy. "Oh, it didn't reset its aggro." Ye Xiu said, and I think he was pleased with that.

"Maybe they felt guilty for putting this kind of mechanic in the game," Su Mucheng said, most likely referring to the acid mist which would kill many new players, as Lord Happy began to fire at the dragon. She followed suit, shooting at Acid only a hair's breadth after Ye Xiu.

I waited with Tang Rou and Huang Shaotian, then ran up to the dragon at the same time as they did. We continued fighting the same way we had been at the start. The wyvern twitched, and I knew it was about to shake like a dog, I dashed out of the way before it could barely start the animation, and I realized that Unrivaled Pain and Ultimate Trash Talk had done the same. I was proud that I'd been able to keep up without anyone having to tell me.

It wasn't long after that Acid came to its end. We hadn't needed a healer after all. I wasn't sure how I felt about that, but I did feel good about how I didn't lose any health during the battle.

The rest of the dungeon was rinse and repeat. I was surprised when I saw the announcement at the end, stating that we'd cleared the dungeon first. I'd never had that privilege before in my life, and we weren't even going fast!

Everyone was going crazy at the news. Someone in world chat named Azure River typed, "Noooooooooooo! Give me a break this year, will you?"

Lord Happy replied with a simple, "We'll see," that left me questioning who that other person could be.

"I'm going to take little Ye to meet the Boss. I'll be back later," Ye Xiu said.

"What? No! Don't go, kid! There's a place for you with my team. We're much better suited to raise you to your full potential. We're much nicer over here. Team Happy is horrible. Boo. Yuck. You don't really want to be associated with those shameless people, do you?!" Huang Shaotian said in a panic.

Did I want to join Happy? Would Blue Rain be a better fit? Did I ever think I'd have such a choice to make?!

"We have Deception just sitting there, gathering dust, waiting for the perfect person to play him. Little Ye's playstyle is well suited for it," Ye Xiu replied before I could make up my mind.

"Deception?! I'd get to play with that character?" I was shocked beyond belief. I might not know much about the players who've used the characters, but Deception was one of the best Ninja characters out there! I could name every gear piece and point placement for that character even though no one had seen it in the league in the past three years.

"You can't guarantee he'll get to play Deception!" Huang Shaotian argued.

"Of course he can," Su Mucheng said with a giggle, "He's part-owner of the team. Guo Guo would never tell him no."

"So, You'll join, right?" Ye Xiu was looking at him even as he lit another cigarette.

I couldn't help but grin widely at the man beside me as I nodded, "Yes," I said, barely keeping myself from yelling it, "I'll Join."

- End.
