1 Chapter 1

"Irene could you be a sweetheart and open the door, your father probably forgot his brief case again" irene's mother called out from her room upstairs. Irene who was about to stuff her face with dry cereal groaned and kept her bowl down, she walked out of the kitchen to the entrance door and opened it, to her surprise it was not her father but rather two of her classmates who were also her friends. Roland Giovanni and Jasper Gustafsson, they were the sons of two of the richest business men in town and we're both family friends and heirs to their fathers. Roland has a dark brown hair that was always gelled and blue eyes and so does japer except that his hair was less gelled and his eyes were much lighter, one would assume they were siblings due to how close they were and their height and resemblance was almost uncanning.

"What?is the first time you've seen us at your doorstep?" Roland asked raising an eyebrow "no,i wasn't expecting to see you two until school resumes which is in like two weeks" "looks like you're in luck because we are here so you can stop missing us already " Jasper said with a cheeky grin that showed off his dimple. Jasper was the playful one while Roland was more of the flirty and slightly more matured one. "Actually, I was hoping not to-" "how about you let us in first" Roland said cutting her off and pushed the door wider inviting themselves in. She sighed, she wasn't even surprised anymore at this point, just then she noticed four men in black suits standing suspiciously around her houseshe turned back into the house, Roland and Jasper seemed to have already made themselves 'feel at home' "really guys? Guards?'' she said and slammed the door shut. Roland looked up from his phone with a smirk on his face, passing his hand through his locks he looked at her dramatically "I know right? It's tough being this important you know... oh wait, you dont" "don't kid yourself honey, you are not important, your dad is" she said not missing a beat and with that she walked to the kitchen to take her bowl of cereal and went back to the living room, where the boys were seated. "Some host you are" jasper muttered "maybe if you used that phone of yours to call and tell me you were coming rather than use it for unimportant stuffs then maybe I would've had something prepared for you guys" she said "anyways get ready, we are heading to a party in two hours" "seriously..? 1pm? Isn't that too early'' she said but none of them said a thing, she knew damn well they heard her but choose not to reply, a few seconds later she decided she wasn't ready to argue so she silently munched on her cereal.

2 hours later they headed toward the party. "I still don't get why I am forced to wear this" she said grumbling as the cold air caressed her back causing goosebumps to spread all over her, She Wore a black strapless pencil dress. She never got the chance to grab a jacket because the boys were in a hurry so that they don't arrive 'late' to the party. Opening inside the building would be a lot warmer than outside as it was the beginning of January and the weather was not so nice although the door to the building was not far of " it is sort of a formal party so you can't wear the blank jeans and leather jacket you wanted" jasper replied a small smile on his face as usual "this patry better be lit-" she stopped talking as they got it,her jaw slightly dropped "you've got to be kidding me right now" she said after a long pause, they were in a business party's she could only see old people and people dressed in fancy looking attires at least they did not let her embarrass her self, she gave them a look that clearly said 'I'm waiting for an explanation and it better be good' "his idea!" jasper quickly said pointing at Roland who rolled his eyes "wow just throw me under the bus like it is no big deal" he muttered under his breath with a glare towards jasper who grinned innocently "I'm highly reconsidering doing that to you the more I hand out with you"she said " I feel the love" he said lowering his voice as they passed by an old couple. Roland wrapped one hand around her bare shoulders "relax and enjoy the party" he said whispering into her ears but winced right after saying that as she hit him on his sides with her elbow and stepped on his leg just for the fun of it. Roland face was red from holding in the pain and Irene had a calm satisfied smile on her face. After a few minutes Roland and Jasper were requested at the presence of their Fathers to tune in and learn how things work. After a few minutes Irene decided to go stand at the bar counter and ordered a glass of wine.

"You really don't think I'm going to let you drink that in my presence young lady?"a very familiar voice said behind her,she turned around. Her back pressed against the cold counter and smiled at the man before her "well hello there father, what a pleasant surprise to see you here" she said, he had a glint of amusement dancing in his dark brown eyes that she inherited from him and a smile on his face " I am assuming those good for nothing boys dragged you here" normally, she would try to defend them but she wasn't feeling it at the moment " you assumed right " she said, her father was about to speak "your drink miss" a grumpy voice said, she turned to the bartender who looked like he hated his life more than his job, she offered him a smile and took the glass from it, her smile only made his scowl deepen and walk away to serve the rest of his customers. she held the glass inbetween her fingers and swirled it with perfection despite the fact that she never tried wine despite the fact she tried almost all types of drinks that may have had some alcohol in it. Her father swiftly took it out of her hand and I t on the counter mouthing no as he looked into her eyes to make his point clear, pouting she said " just a sip" he shook his head and stopped looking behind her with narrowed eyes " dad, are you alright?" she asked worriedly, he didn't reply his eyes fixed on what ever it was or whoever it was, she turned to see what made him go still but a hand shot out and grabbed her shoulders. He averted his eyes back to hers for a second and turned back to whatever he was looking at, this time he leaned over to her ear. One would think he was giving her a hug "listen to me carefully honey,i need you to walk into the restrooms climb on a chair near an air vent whcigshould be easy to open. Using your hair pin and then you should go left then right, two more left and a right then two more left, head down and you'll find yourself in a parking lot, if attacked remember what I taught you" he said and just then she felt something cold and wet sip into the fabric of her black dress, shiver ran down her spin as it touched her skin she looked down and saw a wet patch that was only visible when you look closely. She looked up and glared at her father who had a smirk on his face and a half empty glass off wine "oops... well I guess you got the sip you wanted " he said and drank the rest of the wine. Just then she noticed her side was againt the counter and not her back as she was leaning on it earlier. She hadn't even noticed when he moved her, the smirk on his face showed her he knew what he did and was enjoying it, "you're playing with fire good ol' daddy" she said with narrowed eyes , he chuckled softly "hush, go now. You're wasting time" he said with a smile on his face and gave her a little push towards the restroom area "it's not over" she mouthed and walked towards the exit, not before stopping to send a text to both jasper and Roland telling them she was heading out, as she pressed sent things went chaos. Screams were heard, people struggled towards the exit. Glasses shattered and tables turned over. Irene quickly crouched and hid behind a table making her way towards the exit, she cursed the dress she wore at the process, frustrated she picked up a broken glass and tore the side of the dress freeing her legs to enable her to move faster. The sound of bone cracking could be heard, she looked up to see what was going on. There was a guy standing over a dead body, he turned to look at her as he felt someone staring at him. He turned to look at her, her heart stopped for a spilt second and suddenly sped up faster than before, she stared into his piercing grey eyes. All she could think about was one sentence that flashed in her head almost instantly .

"He is the one I'm going to marry"

She met his eyes for a split second but for what seemed like some minutes to her. He dodged a punch aimed at him. At that moment she forgot where she was, what she was supposed to do, that was until he turned to look at her, lips pressed in a thin line and a gun aimed at her direction. She froze, she knew she could bend and use the table she was currently hiding behind as a shield and there would be a 50% chance he would miss and 50 he wouldnt.but she couldn't stop staring into those eyes, the depth in them fascinated her. She knew she was a goner and quite literally in a few minutes if she didn't move a muscle. Her eyes widened as he pressed the trigger and the sound of gunshot brought her back to reality.

She slowly opened her eyes "did he miss?" she wondered but then heard a thump behind her, she turned and saw a dead body on the floor, a man dressed in black suit holding a gun loosely in his hand as he dropped dead.she turned back to see he was gone she sighed, deciding she was going to find him some other time she crouched back to her previous position and kept going but then the lights went off. The silence was heavy, she removed her high-heeled shoe and good up, she knew the way of heart already, all she had to do was get there without bumping into anyone. She winced as the shattered glasses on the floor grazed and cut through her skin, she could feel the blood oozing out little by little but payed no attention to it,her goal right now was to leave without any trouble but clearly fate wasn't on her side.

Omph! she bumped into someone and almost instantly, felt cold edges of a pistol pressed against her forehead daring her to make a move, seeing as she didn't want to get her brains flying about she stood still.

The sound of gunshot ran through the entire room.

Silence.

The lights were back on, cold sweat ran down her forehead to her neck. Relief washed over her features as she saw those piercing grey eyes, he stared at her with a blank expression and lowered the gun. She wasn't going to lie,her heart secretly desired to see his face one more time before she left. Maybe fate was indeed on her side.

THUMP

Irene turned to her left and saw a dead body fall at her feet, instantly a light bulb lit up in her mind. Stumbling backwards she twisted her ankle and fell towards him her eyes closing half way. It was a bad idea because one, she was already bleeding due to the cuts she received while walking barefoot in the dark, and two there were someglasses still lying around which made the cut deeper and the pain was too much it made her gasp.a hand shot out and grabbed her, looking at him through her long lashes she whispered 'help' and her eyes rolled back into her head which dropped, relaxing into his arms as she slowed her breathing. She held back a smirk, the pain was definitely worth it.

"Goodness! We should get an award for the best actress" her inner Irene said with a smirk. She heard him shuffle and lay her on her side, on a piece of clothing, his foots steps drifted away. She opened one eye to see what was happening. Fortunately for her they were directly infront of her despite the fact that they were a few feets away from her meaning that she couldn't hear what they were saying. The guy talked to some men holding a man who looked like he was struggling to break free. He turned and looked at the man who went still when their eyes met, neither said a word but the tension was so thick she could cut it with a knife. It didn't take a minute, he raised his hands and snapped the man's head to the side knocking him out but not strong enough to kill him. He spoke to the men holding the unconscious man and turned to walk away. Irene closed her eyes, she heard his footsteps get closer and closer until she felt something kept over her body, a jacket she assumed. A pair of arms picked her up in a bridal style. She couldn't help but wonder what he would do to her, not that she was scared or anything like that.
