Chapter 2: Conflict

After the mutated lizard kept whipping itself around and trying to bite Gem, we managed to keep making more and more wounds on it. There was blood everywhere around both of them from the mutated lizard. It finally started slowing down and makes a mistake by showing it's throat to us.

Gem doesn't miss the chance and pounces towards the throat digging her teeth in and ripping it out. Finally the battle is over and Gem gives me control back. After looking around the area quickly and not seeing any danger, I shift back to my human form. I start heading towards the wounded snow leopard shifter who has shifted back into a 14-15 year old girl.

I go over and check her over to see if any of her wounds are life threatening. Seeing that there are none I rip off some of the bottom of my shirt into stripes and bandage some of the deeper wounds. Then I turn towards the group and ask if everyone is ok. A middle age couple step forward letting me know that everyone is ok. I turn towards the girl and asked her for her name. She said Jasmine.

3rd person POV

Jasmine, "what is your name?" Mia replied, "Mia." Jasmine, "thank you for saving us." Mia, "no problem. It was the right thing to do." Jasmine, "what do you have planned to do now? If you have nowhere to go why not join us." Mia, "I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do. I woke up alone with my family missing and then heard screaming. So I ran over here to help."

Jasmine, "I'm sorry about your family. Everyone here went through the same thing. We all decided to walk around and see if we could find them and ran into one anotger. We decided to just stick together." As Mia and Jasmine were talking, two middle age men walked over and started talking with the girls. Man #1, "we don't want monsters in our group." Jasmine, "is that what everyone wants?"

Everyone looked away besides the middle age couple and a pair of 10-12 year old kids. They start moving over to the girls and say, "we would rather join you two than go with people who can't even protect themselves let alone other people." Mia, "that's fine. We should all head towards a town and gather supplies." They all start heading in the direction of the town called Bronton. After reaching the town they found a few stores and decided to start there.

They found duffle bags and started filling them up with clothes, canned food, and water. Then they went and found two big vehicles and started filling them up. While they were looking at a map and discussing where they wanted to try and go, the radio started going off. A man's voice came over the radio, "everyone that is still alive, the government has setup a sanctuary for everyone to gather and live at. It has been decided yo set up the sanctuary at a town called Saint Springs. Internet and cellphones are still up and running. Thank you and good bye."

Mia turns towards the group looking for their opinion. Everyone agrees to head that way. Along the way, they ran into a lot of different mutated animals. They were bigger and had abilities that freaked the group out. The first one they saw was a wolf that froze the ground as it walked. After that the group became more careful towards the mutated animals.

They finally reached their destination and the group decided to split apart and go their own way. Jasmine decided to tag along with Mia. As they were walking around many people were giving them strange looks. people started keeping a distance and walking in a wide circle around them. They finally ended up in the middle of the sanctuary that looked like a big square used for gathering everyone togeather.
