1 Silver Memory 1

Night has fallen! I should have kept a closer eye on the sky!

Grunting, I stood up and gazed one more time into the sky, hoping that I had made a mistake. But the only thing I saw, was the thousands of stars, that embedded the heaven above in this chilly night.

Winter had given its welcome about a month ago and the snow had rushed in and wasted no time covering the earth in a white blanket.

I shook my head. "Gosh focus Silver!"

Rapidly I grabbed my cloak and put it on. I surveyed the area closely, "It seems that the coast is clear."

I walked with confident steps, not minding the creatures that lurked in the bushes eyeing me at a distance. I knew they wouldn't try anything. It wasn't in their best interest to do so anyway.

I walked a few more miles into the forest.

A smell traveled to my nose. My head snapped up, "That smell... its familiar."

Without thinking or sensing anything, I kept walking forward. I knew carelessness like this was stupid.

That smell... Why is it so familiar?

It didn't take more than 10 steps to realize I had made a mistake.

It was pack-land. Shit. Pack wolves were a hassle when they came across someone unknown.

Run! My conscience screamed. Run! Run!

I knew I had been right. I had to run. I may be a good fighter, but a pack of wolves was something I didn't want to deal with. I may be strong but not stupid.

My feet dug into the ground before taking off. I couldn't change forms. If I did, I would immediately present myself as a threat. I wanted to avoid any work for now. Meanwhile, snarls could be heard at a distance but I couldn't hear their steps.

Ugh! They have stopped snarling! Fuck! This is bad. I really don't want trouble today. But they have gone into hunting mode. Fuck! Their paws are light against the snow and my human feet are so fucking loud!

Straining my ears to hear anything at all was my main job now. Our hearing is better than that of an ordinary human, but not by much when in our human forms. I have no choice. I need to run for a tree.

Turning again, I quickly spotted a tall tree. I swiftly jumped and latched myself to the tree and climbed to a branch far enough from the ground. Wolves can climb but aren't very well at it. They could shift, but I was sure enough that most, if not all, wolves didn't train for this.

Even if some had a bit of experience, the branch where I stood was high.

"Come down here." One man stood out from the rest. From his demeanor, he seemed to uphold a leadership role.

Smiling down, "No."

"If you don't come down we will be forced to be aggressive."

"Oh, sweetie, men have never been a species to be known as kind."

Some that came along with this man, snickered.

"See even your men agree..."I trailed off in silence.

There it was that smell again. So familiar...

I was so distracted by the smell that I lost all attention to where and with who I was.

Only a slight whoosh was heard before I fell and hit the snow-covered ground with massive strength.

"Be alert at all times. If you aren't, you are a useless specimen and weak. Remember that girl."

So long ago was that I had thought of that person.

Now, I only knew somethings for sure. I had let my guard down and had gotten hit on the head by someone. Now my body was shutting down on me, ready to pass out in any second.

"Take her to the dungeons. Our Alpha will deal with this matter as soon as he arrives."

Oh for freak's sake! This better not be a cliche from those human's books.

Shit! There better not be a mate in all this crap, and with that last silly thought, I passed out.
