Protecting the heir

Landon sat in the room alone, he was still trying to wrap his mind around the whole thing that had happened. The truth was a hard pill for him to swallow.

*Flashback*

Landon woke up early the next morning unable to get the prince out of his mind. It pained to him to recall the hurt look on his face when they had returned from the land that should not be named. He thought of paying the male a visit and trying to comfort him but he didn't want to risk annoying him even more with his presence.

He got ready for the day with the help of Elsa but his mood was still down. The young maid trying to cheer him up by telling him jokes. He could feel his heart drop each time he imagined the prince's face when he was told that Sly had left him.

It was a ghost that haunted his mind making him feel lonely and guilty. Today was his coronation and he would get to see the prince. A part of him wanted to not attend the coronation and respect the prince's wish but a selfish part of him wanted to see him and see how he was doing. The selfish part of him felt excited thinking that the biggest obstacle in his path to winning the prince's heart was gone.

He could see a clear path to a beautiful future with the prince if he could convince the male to accept him and the feelings that he had for him. He wanted more than anything to have the prince all to himself and hated the thought of having of sharing him not forgetting the elf girl she who was also married to the prince.

"Announcing the arrival of the queen of Arcadia," the guard announced outside bringing Landon out of his train of thoughts.

Landon and the servants stood up to welcome the queen. He bowed his head in greeting when the queen stood before him. "Greetings to the queen of Arcadia," he greeted respectively. He didn't have the strength to say much and would have rather she leave him be.

"Greetings," the queen responded waving her hands to dismiss the servants. Landon hoped in his head that she had not come there just to pick a fight. On normal days he wouldn't mind but today he was emotionally drained he didn't have the time nor the energy to deal with her.

"To what do I owe the honor of having you here by my side?" he asked taking a seat opposite to her. The queen had her eyes to him. She looked mad.

"You are very adventurous," she said to him. "You had the prince take you on a trip and got married with no one present. More than that you snatched Ara's right of having a proper wedding," she added.

Landon gulped when she spoke, he had completely overlooked how everyone else would react to his unscheduled trip with the prince that did him more harm than good.

"I apologize for that," he said apologetically.

"No need to be sorry. I liked what had happened," she said to him making him nervous. He wasn't sure if she was pulling his leg or meant what he said to him. "Your wedding worried me a lot, I couldn't overlook the danger of having so many guests in the palace. Anything could have happened that wasn't planned causing us a big loss," she added making the male frown at what she was going on about.

"I'm glad that I was of some use to you," he said even though it didn't make sense to him why she said those things.

"Not just to me but you saved the whole kingdom a great loss. You are pregnant with the heir of this kingdom. Had anything happened to the baby due to an attack from any of the royal enemies that might have attended the party. It would have been a disaster," she said making Landon freeze.

He had completely forgotten about the white lie that he had told. He couldn't believe that the woman still remembered it. He felt his chest tightening recalling how angry the prince was at him when he told that lie. He held his head on his hand cursing at the terrible days he felt awaited him.

Pretending to be a girl was one thing but faking a pregnancy was worse, it only worked on the television and his life was real. It wasn't a movie or some novel for him that he was sure the hero would save him at the end of the road. If his life were a movie he was sure his hero would also be the villain of the book because the prince despised him beyond words and space.

He was a pro liar but he knew that pregnancy was beyond him. He had to find a way for the non-existing baby in hi womb in his non existing womb to die before he is caught in his lies. The prince would probably kill him if he was to be discovered that he was male and not female. He had already hurt him so much; the prince would not have a single reason to keep him alive.

"I am still worried, you are only human as I keep being reminded. I don't know what that means but I do know that it makes you weak. Anyone can attack you and harm the child so easily which is why I was thinking of making you a beast. To protect the heir of Arcadia," she said scaring Landon out of his mind.

"What does that mean?" Landon asked his heart racing in his chest. He had never once thought of becoming a beast nor did he ever think that it was possible.

"The tree that grants the wishes of the unfortunate soul's, it can help you with by granting you the terregenic crystal that will grant to you an identity to give you the strength and power to bear the child of the next king of the Arcadia," she said.

*End of flashback*

After that talk Landon found himself being dragged away by the prince before broke up with him in the middle of the forest. He released a sigh feeling relived that it was only an illusion, his heart wouldn't be able to handle such pain had it been real. Even though every minute of it felt and sounded so real.
