Chapter 2- Helpless (Edited)

The vase crashed and the following reactions were quite a given. The couple inside the bedroom stopped their intercourse and hurried out to see who was peeking on them.

"Who's there?!!!" yelled Ze Yang as he quickly grabbed his pajamas and ran out of the room to see who the intruder is. When he came out, the corner of his eye captured the familiar figure who had just run out. Shi Xue's white, off shoulder white blouse and navy colored A-line skirt confirmed his suspicions.

He took out his cellphone and dialed a private number. While he waited for the person to pick up the call, he saw the trail of blood that piled up from broken shards of glass on the floor. He smirked evilly and demanded arrogantly to the man who had just picked up, "Take action immediately! She just got out of XXX apartment 79. She has a foot injury and left trails of blood behind. White top, navy skirt."

On the other side of the call, a man with a deep stitch wound across his face grinned, "Time is what I have. Let the Kitten run while she can. Once I get her, she will be a lifeless corpse fed to hungry dogs. He licked his chapped lips, revealing his yellow teeth with thick gunk layered on top of it.

Shi Xue didn't know how far or long she had ran from that apartment. Pain was no longer what she feared, and the darkness of the night could also be adapted to. She kept looking back and forth to make sure nobody was coming after her. Her chest heaved heavily as she looked for help.

If she hadn't left her cellphone at the apartment this morning when she had left, she would still be resting peacefully somewhere. Somehow, her phone's service was out of range and when she dug into her contacts list for help, she realized one thing. She had nobody to turn to. Her father died several years ago, leaving her to her so-called family.

'Friends? Who am I kidding? I spent my years of school life and effort all on Ku Ze Yang that I didn't bother making any friends. I listened to his words and avoided everyone around me. Who else would I have in my contacts to help me out of this situation?!'

Ku Ze Yang had an extremely shitty temper where his controlling nature forbid Shi Xue from making friends. She never found the courage to disobey his words even though he has mistreated her greatly many times already. If she said anything back, he would throw objects at her or even hit her physically, making her feel inferior. He broke her cellphone and gave her a new one with her family and him as her only contacts.

At first, he courted her with passion and showed her an immense level of care that won her over. They had a great relationship in the beginning and even been through many difficulties. Except, things turned for the worst gradually and she did not realize it until it was too late.

Once, she suggested breaking up due to his consistent anger outbreak, but that only made his rampage reach a completely new level. She could still feel his tight grip around her neck, holding her down tightly; strangling her. Her attempt to leave him was a failure as he proved his point through almost choking her alive.

She remembered how painful those hot tears were when she gasped for breath and scratched his arms, hoping for a chance to survive. He didn't let go of her until her body had stopped struggling under his suffocating grip.

Presently, she reached a secluded area by the ocean and decided to hide there for now. She panted heavily and looked at her porcelain colored legs now full of scratches. Seeing the shards of glass still stuck on parts of her feet, she bit her lips and removed them using her fingernails. After that, she used a nearby fountain to rinse the wound and settled under the shades of the bench outside the women restroom.

She gazed upon the beautiful starry night sky filled with twinkling stars that seemed to be looking back at her. With her fingertip, she pointed to the sky and traced out a Taurus sign. As the glamorous full moon and glowing stars reflected from her eyes, she reminisced to her old memories….
