3 Chapter Three

" I've made up my mind Ariel, I chose...to reincarnate, not that I'm not greatful to be given the chance at eternal peace, but..."

" No need to explain, your soul tells me all that I need to know, and since you have chosen your path we should start by giving you a few gifts for your journey."

" Gifts? You mean like powers, but why, aren't I just gonna be reborn on earth." Jayden asked confused.

" It isn't so simple as that child, your life on Earth has ended, now it is time to experience a new world, one I think you are very familiar with. It is called detective comics but others know it as...

"The dc universe...those fictional stories actually exist how is that possible, but then what about God from my Earth, are they the same being as the one in Dc or are they two separate but similar deities."

"All good questions, but you'll only find your answers by either walking through the gates or by the second option..."

" Now for your reincarnation...mhh!! I don't think you would want to be reborn as a baby again so maybe we could do that, yes that seems like a better alternative.

From this point on before I send you on your way, you will reincarnate without your memories, but when you turn 16 you will gain them back."

Jayden nodded, since Ariel said he would awaken them on his 16 birthday that at least meant he will live for that long.

' I just hope my starting point isn't anywhere like North Korea.'

" And now for your gifts, I've seen what your heart desires and I think these abilities will suit you well." Ariel waved his hand and Jayden's body suddenly glowed seven times which signified that he had received several gifts.

" Seven Huh! God stopped on the seventh day and I've now received Seven gifts, was that on purpose or a coincidence." Jayden asked but he received no reply.

That's when he finally noticed that the old man had disappeared, and so too did the Garden of Eden.

" Wait I still..." But before he could complete his sentence his mind went dark and his body faded into nothingness.

...

(Time skip: 18 Years)

Archie Goodwin International Airport, also known as Gotham City International Airport.

It was the only Airport that ran in Gotham and for good reason, no company was stupid enough to invest money into an airport that could potentially blow up or have criminals and villains attacking randomly for no reason.

Gotham Airport had only one backing and that was Wayne Enterprise. Though focusing mostly on electronics the behemoth of a company dabbled in other businesses as well.

And at this moment it was just a normal day at Gotham airport.

Though there were some delayed flights, overall it was a calm day in Gotham, well if only you were looking at it on the surface.

At this very moment exiting the airport entrance stood a 6 ft tall black African American-looking teen wearing a plain black hoodie and some baggy black pants.

He had some chuck taylor all star Converse on his feet and around his neck he wore a simple straw necklace with a black stone attached to the other end.

The young dark-skinned teen looked pretty normal, his build appeared to be on the skinnier side of the spectrum but that could just be the illusion his clothes were giving off.

He also had a head full of silverish hair and a pair of Egyption-like eyes. But his most prominent features were probably his pitch-back eyes. It looked like he didn't even have an iris but none around him saw that as he was also wearing a pair of shades over his eyes.

Looking up at the smog-filled sky, Jayden couldn't help but sigh." Man, I've been here less than an hour and I'm already depressed." He looked at the sky for a few more seconds before picking up his luggage and signalling for a taxi.

" Where to pal." The Taxi driver asked in a rudish almost annoyed tone of voice. He didn't even offer to help put his bags away, but Jayden didn't mind that.

" Uptown, Grant Wood Road." Jayden replied while handing the driver a 100 dollar bill.

The driver's attitude immediately changed upon seeing the money and he had the brightest smile on his face showing his yellow-stained teeth from years of smoking.

" You got it." He replied before stepping on the gas pedal.

In the meanwhile Jayden just looked out into his new home, never would he have thought that when reincarnating into dc that he would voluntarily move to this cursed city.

He wasn't even exaggerating, this city was literally cursed, it happened a few thousand years ago but Jayden didn't remember much of what the comics talked about.

In any case, to fulfil his dream Gotham was one of the many places he would have to eventually visit, so why not just get it over and done with?

' But now that I'm looking around it doesn't seem so bad, we'll not as bad as how the comics and media describe it to be.

*Wooooooooooop*

' Ah! I spoke too soon.' Jayden sighed immediately after. As the taxi stopped at a red light, a bullet filled car speed through the right junction followed by 10 GCPD police cars hot on its tail.

" Is this the normal around here." Jayden asked already knowing the answer to his own question.

" What did you expect when coming here, metropolis? haha!! Welcome to Gotham Kid, hope you don't die too early." The Taxi man laughed, before coughing, probably because of his bad lungs from smoking.

It could have also been due to all the smog in the atmosphere pulluting the oxygen in the air.

But even with the drivers clearly less than friendly welcome, he had a feeling this place was gonna be important to him.

' Maybe my minds just playing tricks on me because I'm finally here, I've waited two years for this day and now I could officially start my dream.

.....

(777 Grant Wood Road)

"Thanks for the..." Before Jayden could thank the driver for the lift he had already sped off blowing cloudy black fumes in Jayden's direction.

"Ride!... Sigh well at least he was friendlier than the taxi drivers in new york, now those guys were real asholes." Jaden quipped to himself before turning around to his new home.

It was a run-down Barbershop that hadent seen the light of day for probably 50 years. He had seen it being auctioned away a year ago and didn't even hesitate when using most of his savings to buy it.

Though it looked like it had seen better days, with a bit of grit and a new makeover he'll have this place looking brand-new and ready for opening.

What was even better was not only was the barber shop included in the auction but so was all the floors above it giving Jayden a four-story home.

Walking forward he grabbed his keys from his pocket and put one of them in the lock.

With a simple twist to the left, the door unlocked, and the moment he opened the door he was blasted in the face with 50 years worth of dust cobwebs and who knows what.

*Cough cough*

He looked around the barber shop that appeared like it was going to collapse at any moment.

" This...is gonna take a while to clean up, well there's no time like the present." Jayden smiled as he rolled up his sleeves.

" My journey starts now."
