Jayden, a talented and ambitious boy, has always dreamed of becoming a Barber. However, his aspirations seem out of reach in his ordinary life. One fateful night, as Jayden was walking back home he encounters a woman in danger and tries to save her...unfortunately, because of his recklessness, he died... But that wasn't the end for him as he awakens in a realm beyond imagination, finding himself reincarnated into the DC Universe. Now trying to live out his lifelong dream, Jayden must navigate this new reality where superheroes and supervillains coexist. . . . . . My last story wasn't really starting off well so I decided to change it for this dc one while I fine-tune and mark out the other one that I'll upload into another story category. I'll be honest here I've never read a dc comic in my life but I love the movies and have been reading up on my favourite characters. I'm still confused about the whole rebirth thing and the new 52 but I'm trying. In any case, most of my knowledge will be from the movies, some videos I've seen from Kinglion, variant YouTube and of course the wiki. I've been recommended to watch the young justice TV show, static and other animated stuff so while writing this I'll watch some of that stuff in my free time. Also just a reminder, I'm not a professional writer and don't claim to be, I'll make mistakes, so pointing out those mistakes would be much appreciated. Then with nothing more to say I hope you enjoy my story, and if not then thanks for trying it out. ......................

Chapter Fifty-Nine

(Uptown, 777 Grant Wood Road, Gotham City)

It was Nine o'clock in the morning, and Jayden had already woken up, eaten breakfast and opened up shop.

Jayden smiled warmly as he heard the familiar sound of the doorbell ringing, signalling the arrival of a customer.

But even before they had entered the shop Jayden had an incline of who it was...

And he wasn't wrong as it was his new friend, Kory Anders.

They had met a few months ago at a comic con event, and despite the initial chaos of the bombing incident, they had kept in touch and developed a close friendship.

However, Kory hadn't revealed her true identity as Starfire to Jayden yet, as they were still getting to know each other, heroes don't like really exposing their identities for a reason.

"Hey, Kory! It's great to see you," Jayden greeted her with genuine excitement.

They had been talking for months and Jayden brought up the possibility of maybe cutting her hair if she was of course okay with it and she had happily agreed. "I've been looking forward to this. Ready for your very first haircut from me?"

Kory beamed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Absolutely, Jayden! I trust you completely. I've seen the pictures you sent me of your previous clients and I can't wait to see what you come up with for me."

Jayden nodded and draped a barber cape around Kory's shoulders, ensuring her comfort as she settled into one of the barber chairs.

Standing behind her, he admired her long, flowing red hair that perfectly matched her vibrant personality.

"You have very beautiful hair, Kory, I can see you've been taking really good care of it."

Kory lifted her chest proudly after hearing Jayden's compliment. If there are a few things she takes pride in, one of them was her hair.

"So, Kory I've already got an idea for what I want to do but have you got any specific ideas or styles in mind?" Jayden asked, running a comb through her hair to get a feel for its texture and length.

Kory pondered for a moment, tapping her chin playfully. "Hmm, I'm open to anything Jayden. Surprise me with something that screams 'Kory'!"

Jayden nodded, his creative wheels spinning. This time he didn't use his Hairs Armada ability as he knew exactly what he was going to do with her hair.

He loved the challenge of creating a personalized look that truly captured his clients' personalities.

With Kory's adventurous and kind nature in mind, he began envisioning a hairstyle that would make her shine even brighter.

As Jayden worked his magic, he engaged Kory in lighthearted conversation.

They laughed and shared stories. The atmosphere in the barbershop brimmed with warmth as if they had known each other for ages.

Seconds turned into minutes as Jayden meticulously crafted a hairstyle that was as unique as Kory.

He added layers to enhance her natural waves, creating movement and volume.

To incorporate her adventurous spirit, he suggested adding pops of vibrant colours that would reflect her vibrant personality.

Or more specifically the technique was called dimensional colouring.

Dimensional colour means just that, adding dimension throughout the hair with a contrast of darker shades, lighter shades or highlights.

Dimension is a contrast of light and dark tones. An example of dimensional colour may be created by adding waves of lighter hair colour to naturally dark hair or shades of darker colour to lighter hair.

...

As Jayden continued to work, Kory couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation.

She trusted Jayden's expertise and knew that he would deliver a hairstyle that perfectly captured her essence.

' Ahhhh~ I cannot wait to show all the team members my new human looks.' Kory thought excitedly.

As the day went on, Jayden and Kory shared more stories, laughter, and maybe even a few secret glances.

At that moment, Kory knew that their paths had crossed for a reason and that she was glad that she had met Jayden when she did.

As they continued to talk Jayden mentioned a new comic series he was reading.

He described the captivating storyline, the rich character development, and the stunning artwork that brought the pages to life. Kory listened intently, hanging on his every word, her enthusiasm evident.

"That sounds amazing, Jayden! I'll definitely check out that series. You always have the best recommendations," Kory exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"And speaking of comics, I've been reading some incredible new works too. Let me tell you about them!"

Kory said as she introduced all the new works she was reading and enthusiastically recommended them.

Then the conversation switched to Jayden talking about the holiday he was going to go on with his lovers. To be more specific a 7-day Cruise.

He described the picturesque destinations they would visit, the luxurious amenities onboard, and the incredible itinerary they had on the cruise.

Kory's eyes widened with a hint of envy, though she quickly masked it with a smile.

She was genuinely happy for Jayden, but a part of her couldn't help but yearn for a similar experience. Being a hero, her responsibilities often consumed her time and limited her opportunities for leisurely vacations.

But she doesn't say that to Jayden as again to him she was just an ordinary person who liked comics and reading.

"That sounds fantastic, Jayden," Kory replied, her voice filled with admiration. "I'm so glad you have the chance to go on such an incredible adventure with your loved one. I bet it will be an unforgettable experience."

Jayden noticed a tinge of longing in Kory's expression, and although he didn't know the full extent of her heroic responsibilities, he could take a wild guess at how busying it can be.

"You know, Kory, I understand that life can get pretty busy for everyone. But hey, who knows? Maybe one day you'll have the chance to take a break and embark on an adventure of your own," Jayden said, his voice filled with reassurance.

Kory's smile widened, appreciating Jayden's understanding and the sense of escapism that their conversations provided.

In their friendship, she found a connection to a world outside her heroics—a world where she could simply be Kory, the comic book enthusiast...with an equally strange food appetite.

Finally, after the meticulous process, Jayden stepped back and admired his masterpiece.

Kory turned to face the mirror, her eyes widening with delight as she took in her transformed appearance.

The vibrant colours and carefully crafted layers gave her a bold and dynamic look that truly screamed "Kory."

"Oh, Jayden, it's incredible! I absolutely love it!" Kory exclaimed, unable to contain her excitement as she hugged him.

"You've captured exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much!"

Kory being 6'5 and Jayden only beings 6 feet made quite the comical scene. But he wasn't going to complain as she smelt amazing...

Jayden grinned, his eyes filled with pride. "You're more than welcome, Kory. It was my pleasure. I'm thrilled that you're happy with the result. Now you've got a one-of-a-kind look that reflects your adventurous spirit!"

They continued chatting and admiring the new hairstyle.

As the day at the barbershop continued, Kory had decided to stay and chatted with him until he closed the shop.

Their friendship growing stronger with each passing moment.

As the day drew to a close, Jayden and Kory exchanged warm farewells, already looking forward to their next meeting.
