3 Totally a Saint (2)

"U-urgh!" Merui coughed as he weakly clutched his stomach. After that surprise attack he had encountered a few days ago, his body was in a bad shape.

What hurt more then that however, was the fact that the person he had respected highly…was trying to kill him.

Merui thought back on how he and Anaiel had interacted in the past. It was totally normal and there wasn't any evil intention floating around him.

Plus, he was the current Saint. The whole kingdom of Alfu adored him for his virtues and charms.

Even though all the evidence he had gathered pointed to Anaiel, he still wanted to talk to him himself. He grasped his sword hilt weakly and trudged on.

"Young Master, it is time to wake up." A middle aged man held a silver platter with luxurious simple breakfast food. If you looked closely, you could see his hands trembling.

Lin saw this, and gradually understood what character this Anaiel was. The system had also gave Lin some of Anaiel's memories, so he had the gist of what was going on.

Basically, he was an abusive young master at home, but was the revered Saint outside. And since the people who worked for his family had already sworn allegiance with a contract, none of this was leaked.

Anaiel's birth had been predicted before his mother was even pregnant. It was said that his connection to God would be on another level compared to other people, which caused his birth to be celebrated for 3 days and 3 nights.

Adorned with jewels and wealth galore, it was no wonder he had become like this. Lin sighed and began eating, completely ignoring his butler Elliot.

Elliot was used to this and he sighed in relief. At least today Anaiel did not cause a fuss first thing in the morning.

After Anaiel finished his meal, he wiped his mouth with a napkin and got up. Elliot hurriedly signaled the maids to come in a clothe him.

The maids clothed him in a white blouse and a long grey coat. His pants were long and along with his shoes, it didn't reveal any of his skin. They even made him put on gloves, the old Anaiel had quite weird taste. The only visible skin was his face.

This style reminded Lin of a vampire, unable for their skin to touch the sun or something. His parents were already away on a business trip, hence the reason he ate in his room unproperly. This was generally frowned upon, but what could the servants do?

Before Lin took over, Anaiel had planned a trip to a nearby cafe. It was regarding the attack on Merui and how it failed, Anaiel was quite mad about it as he was promised it would be done the first time.

So Lin went in a plain carriage that was meant to look like a taxi and attract less attention. They arrived pretty soon and he stepped out.

The words "Anabelle Cafe" were hung on a wooden sign above the store. It was swarming with noble women busily gossiping and eating the sweet goods that it offered. With his plain colors, he easily blended in as one of the waiters and went to the register.

"Hello dear patron, what would you like to order?" The cashier was a young man dressed neatly. His brown hair and green eyes made him a favorite for the noble ladies. His charms attracted many stares.

"I ordered a pumpkin cake in the back." Anaiel calmly said.

The boy's eyes widened before carefully leading Anaiel to the back. Other then serving noblewomen treats and goodies, they were more of a neutral ground where important nobles could come and talk with business partners.

By saying a certain code that was changed every week, the employees would lead you upstairs and you would find rooms fortified with magic so that people outside couldn't hear what you were saying.

The number he had reserved was 8, so he took the tea they had prepared, and dismissed the employee and went inside.

A haggard looking man with black hair and grey eyes stared at Anaiel's approaching figure. He was nervously fidgeting his fingers as he observed Anaiel's expressions.

"So...." Lin took a sip of the tea the boy had just recently set down. He didn't have to worry for poison as the light magic inside his body naturally purified such things.

"I was promised the job would be completed the first time..." Anaiel set down the cup on the table, his clear blue eyes showed a dangerous gleam. The haggard man flinched.

"W-Well y-y-you s-see w-we-" The poor man couldn't even form his sentences properly.

"If you keep stuttering, I will cut your tongue off." Anaiel glared, and began impatiently tapping his finger against the table.

He shut his mouth quickly and began talking slowly.

"The...information that we received didn't match his power level...."

"Are you saying this is my fault?" Anaiel raised his eyebrows.

"N-Nono!!" He shouted, before gasping before covering his mouth.

"The audacity to break your end of the deal, then proceed to treat me with disrespect..." Anaiel got up. "We're done talking. If you ever wish to do business with me again, your head would be compensation."

With that, Lin left, leaving the man to blankly stare at the wall in despair. Seeing as how the organization entrusted him to talk to Anaiel, he was probably a quite important person.

And being a executive in an illegal organization probably was at the cost of other lives. This was simply karma.

"So now...How am I supposed to turn around and slap the blame on someone else...?" Lin sighed at all the work the future had in store for him.
