4 The truth - what really happened

Ariel slowly came around Spider smiled while the others sat up abruptly. ‘Where am I?’

‘Hospital babe.’

‘What am I doing here?’ She asked groggily, slowly trying to sit up. Spider shot to his feed getting a pillow and fluting it up helping her to sit back onto it. She smiled and he passed her the glass of water handing it to her, she took it off him thanking him, a-taking a large amount of it and handing it gsck to him he placed it down ve free sitting on the chair beside the bed. He took her hand in his kissing it. ‘We were so worried about you babe?’

‘What happened? Why am I here?’

‘You passed out honey. The doctors say you were stressed and that what caused you to black out.’

‘Where’s Cole?’

‘Dead.’

Her lips trembled.

‘It’s okay Ariel the police think it was self defence I told them Cole came in uninvited and tried to kidnap you you got away and he shouted you you panicked and the gun went off.’

‘Bu..’

‘Just stick to the story Ariel.’

‘What about Chrissy and Sheryl?’

‘They’re already taken care of, the cops have no idea that they were even there and we know what we’re doing Ariel. All you’ve got to do is trust us and stick to what I’ve just told you. Do you think you can do that?’

She nodded. Scared shitless hoping she wouldn’t screw this up he smiled kissing the back of her hand.

The police arrived two hours later to talk to Ariel and she confirmed what had happened in the house with Cole to detail, hoping she didn’t get any of it wrong. Hoping if she’d remember everything she said if they integrated her again.

They left satisfied. Spider squeezed her hand before lifting it to his mouth, kissing it.

Rushton looked over at them smiling. He knew how such she truly meant to him and how much he did to her knowing he could no longer stand in their way he was going to talk to her once she was alone.

Spider fell asleep in the chair besides Ariel’s bed Jae was,snoring in the one closest,to the window it was just him and Ariel awake. He pulled himself up walking over to the bed. He looked at her and smiled. ‘Can we talk Ariel?’

She looked up at him and smiled fuxk this was going to be harder than he thought. He took her hands in his. ‘I’m sorry for all of this Ariel we should’ve listened to you. I should’ve listened to you.’

‘Your a guy I expect no less.’

He smirked. ‘Well I’m sorry I didn’t think it would come to this. They played us well and only you could see through them.’

‘It wasn’t just me, it was Spider too.’

He looked at her questionably.

‘We’ll tell you and Jae together.’

He nodded.

‘I’m sorry for kissing you Ariel. It was wrong of me and it should never have happened.’

‘Forgotten.’

‘I still love you Ariel but I know you love Spider so for once in my life I’m going to step back.’

She looked at him, her eyebrow raised. ‘You don’t have to do that.’

‘I do you need to be with Jace alone you don’t need a love sick puppy around you regretting everyday that he wished he’d done things differently,wished he could’ve told you how he felt before you left and had made time to come and see you.’

‘It’s okay Rushton I understand.’

‘No it’s not okay we were best friends and I loved you for longer than you ever realised I did. I should’ve been there to protect you, to protect you from Cole,and every other guy .’

She smiled.

‘I won’t be far away Ariel. I just need time, time to forget you.’

‘I understand.’

‘So, a baby hugh?’

‘Yeah.’

‘So that the reason you were always acting up?’

‘I was hormonal. I thought I was losing my best friend.’

‘You’ll never lose me Ariel no matter how much you want to.’ He grinned laughing. ‘No matter where I am or who I’m with you’ll always be my best friend Ariel always.’

‘And forever.’

He smiled, kissing her forehead.

Spider and Jay came round after a few hours Rushton and Ariel were sleeping in the bed after their long talk, laughing and joking about old times they’d fallen asleep.

‘Get up you last shit.’

‘Urgh.’

‘waht the fuck are you doing sleeping with Ariel?’

‘Shit. We were sorting out our shit and we must’ve dozed off. He said pulling himself up off the bed.

‘Ariel babe wake up.’ Spider said, running his hand down her face. She slowly opend her eyes. ‘Shit I must’ve dozed off.’

‘Yeah with Rushton.’ He said, sounding angry.

‘It wasn’t like that we were talking sorting through stuff we must’ve fallen asleep.’

‘It’s okay Ariel Rushton already said.’ Hesaid, kissing her.

‘So what’s this Ariel was telling me.’

‘What did she tell you.’

‘Not much. Just you knew that they weren’t who we thought they were so explain.’

;it took time guys they really seemed genuine,but Ariel had a bad feeling about them. I began to see what she was talking about. They always were talking in hushed voices. I became suspicious of them, they were acting strangely and you couldn’t even see it. So I did a background check on them and they worked for a high profile private hospital. They took care of Cole's after we shot him Rush. He gave them a false surname so no one would find him but we reckoned they helped him with that being as they had him on file. They work with fingerprint detection. We’re sorry we had to do it this way but we had to get you out the hose long enough for Cole, to enter. We thought they’d be in direct contest with him that’s why we made sure you were out long enough for him to sneak in. We needed just enough time for Ariel to tell him she wasn’t going anywhere with him and for you all to turn up so they could confess to knowing Cole it took killing him for them to confess. What we didn’t expect was for you to break their necks. I was going to shoot them we thought they’d try and stop Ariel from shooting Cole but they didn’t.’

They both nodded. ‘I for one am glad I found out who they really were.’

‘I’ll second that.’

Spider smiled sitting in the bed, his arm around Ariel kissing her cheek.
