Kairn, a variant of Cairn (Scottish Gaelic) is a man made stack of stones. Since ancient times, they have served as monuments, burial sites, navigation aids, wishing stones, worship mediums, among other uses in different cultures around the world. Each stone in a pile can signify a wish or prayer. Hikers usually add a stone at the top of pile for good luck.
