1 GLUTTON

In a world of dungeons and monsters, humans were also gifted with attributes that grant them super-powers. You can't trade or change your attribute but it can be grown to evolve into something more powerful.

Being a dungeon raider was one of the most well paid jobs as items or monster drops found inside dungeons were quite pricy when exchanged outside. Depending on your attribute, it could determine how successful you would become as a dungeon raider as some weren't combat suited.

"Come on, you have to tell us the secret to your strength". I was asked this during an ongoing interview on the strongest raider, Tyron. "Fine I'll narrate my story but no criticism you hear me. It all started like this".

On a sunny day in a city called Lisbon, millions of people going about their daily lives when suddenly a dungeon forms in the middle of a major road.

"Come on Danny, It's our time to shine". Said my friend Max with a smile on his face, twenty one years of age, light skinned and average in height with deep blue eyes complimenting his silver colored hair.

Max was an optimist who had a very strong sense of heroism even though his attribute was suited for that. I on the other had affirmed my weakness and had a non-chalant attitude towards heroism. I guess you could say 'unlike poles attracting' actually happens. I regarded him as an elder brother since I was an orphan.

He was gifted with sonic voice and I with invisibility. Pretty trashy right? Yeah I know that too but I always liked his positive outlook because it gave me motivation to move ahead. We both got the same job as dungeon graders that is to say that we give the rank to dungeons.

Our job today was to check and determine what rank this sudden dungeon had. On a normal day, we would just have to step in an measure with a specific; not that hard of a job right? but this dungeon was different.

"Yo Max bring out the device and let's get this over with. I got a show to catch by three" I said this expecting a lecture from him but I was met with silence. I turned towards to face him and saw that he had a serious expression on his face.

"Danny, the device can't read this dungeon" he said with a puzzled face while passing the device unto me. "This has never had before, I think we should leave and wait for the higher ops on this matter". He agreed and we both attempted to leave the dungeon but it felt as though we were blocked with an invisible barrier.

Conflicted as were, we decided to wait at the entrance hoping other dungeon officers will come to their aid. "Ummm... Danny, how many how do you think has passed because I feel like we've spent a day inside here". He was looking hesitant and dehydrated, this was the first time I had seen him without confidence in any situation.

"Let's wait some more, maybe they would come in soon" I said that to give him some reassurance while hiding the fact that I too was worried and also dehydrated.

Meanwhile, outside the dungeon. "Excuse me Ma'am, regarding the matter on the sudden dungeon formed in the business district of the city. It was reported to have closed on it's own". A man who looked a dungeon officer was reporting this to the head of the Dungeon Management Organization [DMO] . The two inside the dungeon, had no idea that they were stranded.

Back in the dungeon, the two had given up on waiting and decided to explore the dungeon of anything to eat or drink.

This dungeon seemed different, as the interior was like a hall-way just lit up with torches as far as the eye could see. It felt like we had walked miles inside but there were no changes in it's appearance."Come to think of it, we haven't encountered any monsters this far inside". We were extra careful while moving as the fear of our situation was slowing crept into our minds.

We soon later arrived at a large door with signs that we couldn't understand inscribed on it. Max hesitant as he was, stepped forward and pushed the door open.

We were met by a cold breeze that poured out of the room and an eerie feeling that sent chills up our bones. We couldn't tell how large the real room was because it was extensively dark with a chest at it's center and the only source of light was focused on the chest.

Obviously this was a trap but we had no choice but to check what was inside. We argued a bit but it was soon decided that I would be the one to open it. As I reached a certain distance to the chest, I suddenly felt a chill as though I was being watched by a beast. I suddenly felt something whoosh past me.

"D.D..D...Danny, b..be..careful" this statement was followed by a sudden thud. I turned back and saw with a stomach hole Max bleeding out on the floor. I was suddenly overwhelmed with fear but I was able to carry his body to the only source of light in the room.

There were many snarls and groans that filled the room but surprisingly non-rushed stepped towards the light. I hurried opened the chest in hope of finding something that could save Max but was met with a dark liquid that filled the chest.

"Aaaah!!, get off me!" The liquid had suddenly started attaching itself to my body and it looked like it was entering into my skin. The pain was excruciating and this went on for minutes with me screaming at the center of the room.

As soon as it had finished entering me light suddenly went off and all the monsters in the room rushed towards me. I suddenly heard an inner voice, "Glutton has been assimilated into your being. Auto-pilot mode would be initiated as user's state of mind cannot handle usage. I think time stopped because there were no more sounds in the room.

My body suddenly liquified and stretched out to swallow the incoming monsters, this lasted for a minute and my physical form hardened back. "Damn, what just happened?" I said while slapping my cheeks as if to check wether i was dreaming.

I began touching around to check if Max body was still where I had kept it but I was interrupted by a floating window that appeared in my front.
