Sly Elves

Rifts are a type of defect made by the Elves, a race on another world. I mean, I think that's what Grandma Judith said. Their planet, Zolea, one day showed up within our Solar System.

The Elves then began trying to conquer Oiturn and which we didn't take kindly to, and fought off the Elves until we formed a treaty. And now they've stopped trying to take over Oiturn! Although the Portal they used to get here wasn't closed all the way.

And so it began creating ripples within our world and others, which monster for some reason would come out. Although, no one knows why they came here or started invading Oiturn. All we know is that we need to get stronger to defeat them.

That's what Grandma Judith thinks anyway, although, I believe we should make friends with the Elves and never end the peace treaty! The Elves probably aren't all bad and might even change their ways! And whatever they're looking for or want we can give it to them, but not Grandma Judith or planet Oiturn!

I love them a whole lot, plus all Grandma Judith's done for me was being there! I mean Grandma Judith's taught me so much, and much more than Magic. She says, she'll teach me how to enchant items one day, and she's been teaching me Math and how to Count and use Money!

On planet Oiturn money spending is different! Instead of calling them Dollars, we call them, Copper, Silver, and Gold. Many times Grandma Judith calls them Copper Parts, Silver Pieces, and Gold Bits. She says that's what people used to call them before!

Oh, and Grandma Judith said, once I turn fourteen, will move into the Kingdom. Since it's many years to go she didn't tell me the name. Only that, it's a place where lots of people live, and that we're outside of it, where rifts commonly appear.

Since I've been doing math for a while now, I what to see just how long it would be until we moved into the kingdom. Just like Grandma Judith said, I start with how many years until we move into the kingdom, which is fourteen. And how many years I've lived outside of the kingdom, which is eight.

So fourteen subtracted from eight is... six, so six more years, I can't wait to meet some new people. And once we move into the kingdom, Grandma Judith said she'll enroll me in the Knight Academy. What ever enroll means? Although I keep telling her I want to be a Swordsmen not a Knight!

Although, Grandma Judith came up with a way for me to be a swordsman and not a Knight. She says, if I don't wear any armor, well then that will basically make me a Swordsmen! And for some reason, only knights use swords, here on Oiturn.

Although, Grandma Judith says after I graduate from the Knight Academy, I'll have to most likely work for the king. And based off what Grandma Judith has been saying he's not too nice of a guy. And he's part of the reason why Grandma Judith's been living outside the Kingdom.

She says, the king plans on breaking the peace treaty with the Elves and making the kingdom's knights and mages go to war with them. Rather than just having the knights fight against the Elves like before. Mostly an outcome, Grandma Judith feels that the kingdom is almost ready to be toppled the treaty. Which is why she believes I should become a Mage.

Although Dallas still refuses and has his mind set on becoming a Swordsmen. And once the King breaks the treaty, Dallas plans on protecting his Grandmother no matter what. Even if the king's life is in danger, he would still more than one hundred times over he'll chose to protect his Grandmother. To Dallas it's not a choice, but rather an instinct...

After many years, Dallas has substantially increased not just his Magical Power, but also his casting time. Following closely behind are his enchanting abilities, which include the power to enchant armor, weapons, and everyday objects. While enchanting is a skill that only I and Grandmother Judith possess.

Grandmother Judith once told me that it's a special ability that runs in our blood. Also that I should never reveal or show it to others. That would only force us to be under the king's control. And constantly be forced into enchanting weapons and armors until death and old age.

A day commonly known as my birthday, had passed, and I had officially turned fourteen years old. Grandma Judith and I sat down at the table, and begun going over what it meant to have common sense. She practically gave me a whole list of what could be done and what shouldn't be done.

Although, I was to adapt with my good mood to feel anything other than good. I mean who wouldn't feel good, I mean, I'm a great looking guy, moving into the kingdom of Manait. You see, these heavenly feature aren't just for show.

I bet there aren't many men in Manait like me. Not everyone could be "nearly" six feet tall, and have amazing light brown eyes. Gracefully followed by silky brown hair.. Wow, hold on now you already want to date me, I know, I just have that type of feel.

"DALLAS! Finally, you've snapped out of it, you've been staring off into the distance for a while now." Grandmother Judith said with an angered look on her face, believing that Dallas had not been paying attention. Oh, yeah, just thinking about something, like... the Knight Academy!

Dallas, well, well. When we get in the kingdom, you'll be able to see for yourself. By this, I means that the admission examinations will commence in a matter of hours. GRANDM- Before you claim I haven't been telling you this, I have. I started telling you before you went daydreaming.

And just because you've been defeating blue low level rift beast, with your bare hands does not mean you'll get into the Knight Academy. Grandma, I already know this, don't worry, this wooden sword should be good enough. (Seeing as Grandma Judith and I have lived outside the kingdom for quite some time.)

(Well, we aren't the wealthiest pair of individuals, although we can make ends meet by hunting and such in the wild anytime if need be. And Grandma's not much of a crafter nor a knight and so, well first I crafted a wooden sword. Then I had to learn my own art of "swordsmanship".)

Although we may not be wealthy now we will be so once we enter the kingdom once again. Seeing as the king should apply use with a place to live and many other things. Grandma Judith worked side by side with the king and even saved the kingdom and the kings life many times over.

Grandma Judith worked with the king until she left the kingdom and lead a life in the wilds. She's an extremely capable woman, I tell you. She built this entire wooden house alone and without help, and is extremely well versed in magic, although she'll never beat me in looks or probably had ever beaten me.

"DALLAS ARE WE GOING OR NOT?!" Judith shouted from outdoors, with their belongings already packed. And immediately started loading the horse carriage. Oh, I'm coming, see what I mean by competent. Although, I have to wonder when did she make that wagon?
