Get used to it

They soon reached his car. Ben helped Samara inside and they sped off. The journey was a quiet one. No one said anything to each other but the atmosphere was not awkward but weirdly quite pleasant.

"Where do you live?"

Ben broke the silence and asked while staring straight ahead. She turned to look at his face and lost in her own train of thought.

His face was half covered in darkness and revealed only to the street lights when they cross one. Looking at his dark black eyes she felt like it was dragging her into his pool of darkness.

Seeing she didn't reply for a long time he turned around and saw her looking at him in a daze. He chuckled and shook his hands in front of him. She jolted back to reality and turned her head to look outside the window to hide her red cheeks.

He felt warmth spread throughout his body. He smiled and asked, "Don't you wanna go home? or Are you planning to stay at my place tonight?"

His sudden statement turned her already red cheeks to scarlet and she blushed involuntarily.

"I.. I stay at St. Patrick road" she replied without even looking at him.

He pressed the accelator hard and they soon reached her home. Ben got down first and helped her get down like a gentleman. Samara looked at him and remained idle not knowing what to do as she was never treated like this before in her life. Still in her daze she heard him call out her name few times before she came back to senses.

"What happened to you? Why are you not responding to me? Are you hurt? Do you wanna go to hospital?" Ben blurted out worriedly as he saw her sitting idle and not moving.

She saw his worried and concerned face. She smiled and said, "I am fine. Its just... nobody ever treated me like this before." her voice gradually decreasing.

'Nobody ever treated me like this before'

these words hit him hard and he felt a sharp pain in his heart. He looked at her with concern but it turned indifferent the next second.

"Get used to it" he said nonchalantly without realizing the effect of those words to her.

Her back straightened involuntarily while her gaze was fixed on him trying hard to figure what was going in his mind.

She shook her head to avoid her thoughts running wild and stepped out of the car. He looked down at her face and turned to face the building.

"I'll walk you in" with that he started walking without waiting for her like he owned the whole place and know where he was going.

She watched him enter the lift and ran to catch up with him. After the doors were closed, she pressed her floor button stood in a corner away from him.
