12 It's not so easy

As soon as Susan entered the office in her new attire, everyone looked at her direction. She wore a pink blouse tucked into a grey cropped trousers, her hair straightened & her lips painted with nude glossy lipstick. She preferred the no-make up look since she was not sure about the culture & didn't want to look loud. She looked beautiful nevertheless given her slender figure & pretty face.

But the reason why everyone looked at her direction was not because she looked beautiful, but because they were already aware of her being the new joinee & everyone knew she will be working closely with Samuel. Since everyone was eying the position for long, esp girls - all were jealous of her except the HR. As soon as news of her arriving into the office reached HR, she rushed to welcome her as per Samuel's instructions.

Susan was still looking at the prying eyes , feeling confused when Eva extended her hands towards her & said, " Welcome Susan, I am Eva, HR of Amazing Fireworks. Mr. Samuel personally asked him to explain you everything about your role & responsibilities. But first let me show you around the office a bit."

Eva looked in her mid forties, though she was extremely welcoming unlike others, she looked a bit nervous as though she was giving an exam. Susan couldn't understand why. Eva showed her the office & her cubicle which was just next to CEO's room. Susan wondered why she got the most importance being just an associate event manager, when Eva could sense the curiousity & explained that her job was not only of associate event manager but also of personal secretary to CEO. She had a dual responsibility here & that was the reason why she was being paid higher.

Just then, Samuel entered the office, sharp 9AM. Everyone greeted him & as he was about to enter his room, he saw Eva & Susan & signalled Eva to send Susan into his room.

Though everyone else looked intimidated by the CEO, Susan looked confident. She had already worked with him, and had known him closely for last 24 hours. He was strictly professional with no interest in anyone's personal life & Susan also liked that way.

Eva said "All the best" & left Susan. As soon as , Susan entered the CEO's room, she experienced a strange aura left by the person inside. It felt like he was the king of the world & nothing could come in his way. Samuel without looking at her, handled her a pendrive containing the the data of last 1 year events handled by Amazing Fireworks & also the scheduled 1 year event in the coming year & asked her to find the flaws or work of any further enhancements which can boost the brand name & position the company as a strong competitor into the market of event management.

Samuel spoke, "Susan, you have to provide me the report by Friday EOD. And I am very strict about the timelines, so don't disappoint me. "

Susan took the task with determination & was about to leave when Samuel spoke, " Where are you leading, you are my personal secretary as well, so you need to be my side always lest I need something."

Susan stopped & assisted Samuel in whatever she could. By the time Samuel left, it was 8PM & Susan didn't have much energy to work on the task assigned.She left for her home, assuring she will work on the task tomorrow.

But the next 2 days, it was the same. Samuel didn't leave her free to work on the task assigned & she felt doomed. As soon as Samuel left on Wednesday evening, Eva pooped in her cubicle & asked her how her day was going with only 2 days left for her to submit her first report. Infact , everyone was waiting for her to get reprimanded since Samuel was one tough boss to handle.

As soon as Eva asked her , Susan explained the situation she was in. Eva offered her to help her synchronize the events & somehow she got a base on which she could start working on. Eva left & Susan was alone in the office. As soon as Susan looked at the no. of files, she realized her survival at the job was not going to be so easy.
