131 Monsterphilia IV

With everyone getting down to business, even Ilta as she felt she had gone far enough and gotten her fun, things began progressing quickly and smoothly.

There were some nice showings by the tamers of the Ganesha Familia as per usual Monsterphilia standards but, ever since the third Nox performance, his act had always been the last, the final act and climax of the whole colosseum program.

The series of "talks" Nox had been having lately were starting to stress him out which went counter to what he aimed for with his time off the Dungeon. As such, he found it quite relaxing to focus on guiding his girls, Ash and Luna to put on yet another fantastic performance to wow all of Orario.

Unfortunately for him however, it was precisely at this time that fate decided to wreck his plans.

Nox had been tense the whole start of the Monsterphilia, just waiting for something to happen and only started cutting loose once nothing occurred within his predicted time frame.

Then there was the talk with Tiona which, despite its wonderful ending, tired him out, even if his thrill and joy didn't let him notice.

That was followed by a serious talk with Eina and Rose and then the debacle between him, the previously mentioned two and throwing in Ilta and Shakti into the mix as well.

For all his flirty demeanour and love of beauties, Nox knew deep inside that his lab was where he felt most at home, something which would leave the girls hurt and thus something he'd never admit to them.

And the Dungeon, for all its danger, was a venting mechanism for Nox, putting the beatdown on monsters was wonderful stress relief for him, stress relief he had skipped out on for quite a while now.

All that couple with a pretty stressful day and Nox was about to blow on whatever happened to stress him out further because a little more was all he needed to enter his "killing calm" as he sometimes called it.

For some reason, Nox found it relaxing to put all of his focus into a single task and doing his absolute best to complete it.

Putting on the his best show yet in the Ganesha Colosseum was the task his instinctively chose to focus on in order to lower his rising stress levels.

Unfortunately, it would all be for naught due to one simple miscalculation on his part . . .

Freya's inaction. By focusing on his knowledge of the original series, Nox knew that Freya's interest was on himself and at the same time, knew that the stunt she pulled in the light novels and anime would be pointless, thus he, for some reason, wiped the thought of her acting for his mind.

What he should have realized however, was that Freya hated being a passive party with all her soul. And so, the thought that she might act in some way should never be discarded. Freya would not be pulling her original stunt . . .

But what was stopping her from thinking up a new one just for Nox?

At first, things went just like always. Luna and Ash, without any direction, went up a few untrained monsters captured by the Ganesha Familia or other adventurers that helped either for monetary purposes or from the kindness of their heart.

Naturally, the two grossly overpowered variants swiftly eviscerated the competition with extreme prejudice that left Ganesha and Shakti shaking their heads.

The two were in league with Ouranos and his Guild for the purpose of normalizing monsters in the surface and transmitting to the rest of the world that extermination was not the only way to go, that coexistence was in fact possible and so there was no need to view all monsters with the normalized hate that most carried.

As such, Luna and Ash's vicious display was not exactly the best PR they could hope for, even if it did drive the crowds wild and turned the two tamed monsters into Orario celebrities who popularity was beginning to spread across the world.

Hermes had even pulled off quite a scheme, making good money selling Ash and Luna merchandize like plushies and action figures.

Nox let him get away with it for a while and then sued for maximum profit. And yes, by putting in a complaint with the Guild one could sue about such things it was never really done.

This was because merchandising of that kind usually was not really viable but seeing the profits, Rose informed Nox of this obscure procedure that would let him legally steal all of Hermes' profits.

Back to the matter at hand though, after the first round of fighting captured monsters, there were exhibition matches that pitted Luna and Ash against other monsters tamed by Ganesha Familia adventurers.

These however, were obviously not to the death as tamed monsters often became valued close companions to their tamers and so, it was all just a good bit of fun that sometimes inevitably resulted in a couple of injuries.

Nox always healed every participating monster back up however, after the matches were done so it wasn't that big of a deal for everyone even though it was actually quite inhumane. Being much stronger than other tamed monsters however, the two girls never really got injured.

Things began to go off the rails on the third event. This was only the second time it was occurring and Nox didn't really enjoy it due to the injuries that Ash and Luna ended up receiving the first time.

Ash and Luna seemed to enjoy it despite the pain it often entailed so Nox ended up accepting for the event to be done again after popular demand.

This third event consisted in an exhibition against first class adventurers, all in good faith of course. These adventurers had their pride and since Ash and Luna were under strict orders not to cause grievous harms, they enjoyed quite a big advantage.

Due to the cries for the event to be held again and the fact that Ash and Luna themselves seemed to enjoy it, Nox accepted the request to host it again. What he didn't know however, was that Freya was precisely aiming to rile him up using this precise event . . .
