6 Trap

I stop collecting woods and stones when my stomach growls in hunger. I guess it is time for me to eat something and put a stop to that growling, but I was sort of too preoccupied with punching things to death instead of doing something useful like gathering necessary foods.

Woops.

After checking how many stones and woods I have collected due to my lapse in judgement – or insanity – I look forwards to the seas once more.

There are numerous of ways to catch something from the ocean, but most of them required time and patience. I have both in abundance, but my stomach does not.

Well, I will not die if I miss a meal or a dozen, so it can shut the fuck up and let me think for a second.

I wonder how to make use of all the woods at my disposal. I summon one unit of woods out to have a closer look, and instantly, a solid block of wood appears in the palm of my hand.

The block of wood weighs nothing for a moment before I have to drop it to the ground. Honestly, what use is a block of woods to me? Not much, really.

I want the wood to be in a more useful form. Like sticks, for example.

That way, I can make a fish trap or something of sort.

I might be able to chop the useless block of wood into a more useful form with a makeshift hatchet.

That means I would actually need to make a hatchet first. A stone hatchet since shaping metal would be a pain in the ass. Labor intensive too. Shaping stone is much easier. Stone that I have plenty of, but they are all in a useless block form.

Fuck!

I punch the block of wood several times in frustration. "Why can't you be a bunch of sticks!?"

The block of wood becomes a bunch of sticks of equal lengths, collapsing into a pile on the ground due to its sheer weight. What the… what the fuck just happened!?

I immediately repeat the same process with a new block of wood straight out of my warehouse, and I now have a bunch more wooden sticks to make use of. I repeat the third time for the charm, a punch at a time, and I notice there is something flashing above the block of wood.

It appears to be a window of some sort, and it only lasted a fraction of a second. After a bit of testing, I learn that it only appears when I am physically in contact with the block of woods, and the reason to why it only lasted a fraction of a second is because I am punching the damn block of woods.

Since that is the case, I place my right palm squarely against the block of wood and look at the window that appears above. It is a small window, but it tells me all that I really needed to know.

[Wooden Stick (x100)]

There is also a progress bar of sort in the window, and that progress bar increases every time I punch the block of wood. After like 4 to 5 punches, the block of wood changes to a bunch of sticks.

Wow. That is kind of awesome. And somewhat insane. It is really insane.

After a moment, I pick up a stick and examine it closely. It is a perfectly cut and polished wooden stick, and quite impossible to craft by hand, at least in such a large number.

It must have something to do with my gaming power. Well. Whatever. I am not going to waste precious time to question the logic of it. It will only give me headache.

Now that I have a lot of wooden sticks to use, I can start making some sort of primitive fishing traps.

It is better than crafting spears and waiting for fishes to get close to shore. It also takes a lot of trainings to spear a fish perfectly, not to mention time. With traps, I can just wait for them to come.

I use one of the sticks to design a trap on the beach. Sure, it is better with pen and paper, but this will have to do for now.

The fish trap is fairly simple, consisting of no moving part whatsoever. It is pretty much a wooden cage with multiple entrances. Fishes can enter the cage, but they cannot leave, at least they should not be to do so.

That will needed to be tested, but I am confident it should work like I have envisioned. I shall call it my Fishy Box of Doom!

[New Blueprint: Fishy Box of Doom]

A new window appears in my mind, making me blink. What? Blueprint? What? It seems to be triggered when I have named my design. I will test whether that is true. For now, I have a look at the description within the window.

I blink several times before scratching my head and shaking it in disbelief. There is simply no way it is that simple. No fucking way. Of course, I will have to see that for myself.

To that end, I head towards the coastline and look around for a suitable construction site. Since Fishy Box of Doom is fairly small, there are plenty of spots where I can construct it.

The moment that I choose a suitable spot, an icon appears. I tap the icon, causing a notification to pop up in my mind.

[Insufficient Building Materials. Required Wooden Sticks (1) or Equivalent.]

"Oh right," I mutter and head off to grab a bunch of sticks. About 30 to be exact.

Once I have them, I haul them back to the site and tap on the icon once again, finding the icon to glow and become filled up about 3% of the way. Well, the Fishy Box of Doom requires 30 wooden sticks to build, so 1 wooden stick would be about that much progress if my math is correct.

I shrug and start hammering the icon repeatedly, finding it increases by 3% each time and one wooden stick vanishes from existence.

By the time it hits 100%, a contraption that I have just designed materialize into existence. Wow. Holy shit. This is unreal! Totally unreal!

[Congratulation. You have built a Fishy Boxy of Doom. 31 experience earned!]

[Congratulation. You have unlocked Civil Engineering (Job).]

Two new windows appear in my mind, giving more insights to my power. My pretty much godly power, considering that I can design and build thing like that. I mean, I am no expert in construction, but that is not how construction work.

Since I have like 270 wooden sticks left, I decide to craft 9 more Fishy Box of Doom at various locations.

It takes all of 5 minutes, and most of that time, I have to haul a bunch of wooden sticks around. It gets pretty annoying pretty fast, and in my frustration, I punch them, trying to get them into my warehouse for easier transportation.

I fail at that, however. It seems that I can only store raw materials into the warehouse not the product.

Wooden sticks are products. They are crafted from wood. Well. Sort of. I have no clue how it all works exactly just that it did, and I feel like I should not question the logic of it all anymore.

Once I have all 10 fish traps up and operating, the waiting game begins. Not that I am actually waiting and doing nothing. I decide to do the most sensible thing ever since I have acquired this power.

"Status."
