It would wear me out quickly. My muscles would be burning by the time I got to the front line. I didn't care. I needed to pass Savannah off to Jax. He would protect her while she recovered.
I had a full mana reserve to waste, and I intended to do just that. I pumped my wings as hard as I could the entire way back to the front line. Staying at my top speed for the entire hour I was flying back to the front line. I flared my wings as I slowed myself down. I kept on slowing myself as I came in.
I was glad I kept my foresight active when my spatial awareness alerted me to an echo of a large spear being launched toward me. I tucked my wings, and rolled mid flight as they launched the spear. I'd moved before they could launch it. They'd find that disturbing when they realized that. I snapped my wings back open, and tossed Savannah.
{Take her to Jax,} I shouted mentally as I clenched my teeth.
I was mere inches from the line of anti air harpoons. I beat my wings down hard. Buffering that part of the line with a massive amount of air as I regained enough control to fly along the front line. Beating my wings hard again so that I veered away from the front line. I gained altitude as I circled back.
Ethan had already caught Savannah, and given her to Jax. He was waiting just behind the front line. I dove sharply when my circle overlapped the frontline again. Flaring my wings, and angling myself sharply so that my right wing was nearly touching the ground as I blazed past. Ethan was ready.
He already started running when he realized what I intended to do. Jumping, and grabbing on to the front of my wing as he laid flat against the membrane. I angled sharply to the left as I banked to rush into battle. Those wyverns weren't going to get anywhere near the frontline while Savannah was down. Ethan slid down my wing, and landed nearly perfectly in his notch.
A psychotic smile on his face as the burn of my muscles reached us both. High speed drones came up alongside us after a few minutes in flight. The sound of their thrumming propellers irritated us. Ethan wanted to crush them. I wanted to agree, but discouraged him.
They would see our combined strength this way. Ethan liked that idea, and all thoughts of crushing them faded from his mind. I was the first to spot the wyverns as small dots on the horizon. Activating foresight once again as I prepared to fight as unfairly as possible. My mouth began to fill with the foul taste of my paralytic toxin.
A fall would kill them just as well as I could. Even if it didn't they wouldn't be getting up any time soon. Lightning sparked out my nostrils as my scales lit up with the power of lightning glinting withing. An idea forming in my mind as the gap quickly shrank. Ethan smirked approval.
The wyverns roared challenge at us as we approached quickly. I didn't want to waste the venom in my mouth so I remained silent. The drones pulled back to observe when the gap narrowed enough that is was only a mere twenty seconds before we collided. I unleashed the mana I'd gathered for our impromptu plan. A spatial portal opened up in front of me, and I passed through it quickly before allowing it to collapse behind me as if I'd never been there in the first place.
The wyverns flared their wings, and slowed in surprise. Jerking their heads from side to side as they tried to find where I went only for the largest one to be slammed into from above as I came at them at my top dive speed without using lightning. My teeth dug into the muscles where his wing attached to his body as I electrified, and poisoned him simultaneously. The wyvern screamed in pain as sparks of my lightning danced in his teeth. I retracted my teeth to release him as I rolled into another spatial portal.
A second wyvern's teeth snapped in the air where I'd been mere moments before as the spatial portal sliced his head off. The confusion on his face as the light faded from his eyes was understandable. I manipulated the water, and light around me to fade out of the vision of the third wyvern. This one was seriously considering running. It was the youngest of the group from what I could tell.
His head jerking to face the faint sound of my wingbeats. There was the possibility of allowing these wyverns to live. I considered that as I circled. The wyvern wasn't sure where I was in the thick mist I'd created so he couldn't figure out which direction he wanted to flee. A fearful roar cut through the space between us.
*"Why you hide?" the young one yelled in broken draconic, "Come. Fight!"
He followed the last word with a gust of powerful flames. Completely missing me as I came up behind him. He jerked around when he realized I was no longer concealing myself.
*"Why show myself?" I decided on trying to reason with him.
If he could be reasoned with then I may be able to move him to another planet where he might be allowed to live in relative peace.
*"Only weaklings hide," he snorted smoke, "You weakling."
*"Why are they dead if I'm the weak one?" I snorted lightning that brushed against his scales as we came to hover across from one another, "They were weak, and stupid."
The wyverns lips pulled back so all his teeth were on display. This was the first time I'd actually taken the time to come close for longer then a moment. It didn't take much to notice that I was more gangly, and lean then the wyvern in front of me. I found it amusing that I was smaller than all three of the wyverns I'd just attacked head on. He just hovered in front of me for a few seconds before responding.
*"You right," he let his lip drop down, "They the weak ones."
