7 Adventure may hurt you but monotony will kill you.

The much-awaited Saturday morning arrived and I got up early in the morning trying to exercise. The result of the 1st two sets of exercise as I had expected hadn't resulted in even a little bit of improvement since I had been doing the same set Thursday night, Friday morning, evening and night before sleeping and now. I needed to go out and find a way to scan stronger and faster people, so I could either used enhanced mode to get a rapid increase to their levels or at least get a single scan, so I could normally exercise and start improving my physical capabilities. I was still confused about the fact that the energy was still able to enhance my senses and reflexes and reaction time like during the enhanced mode even though they didn't get a permanent improvement. This ability should have come with an instruction manual or should at least have mimicked an ability I knew about from my previous timeline.

So I decided that like last weekend I should go for a jog, a very slow jog, to try to scan any and every possible person who might help. I created a list of places where I could find these places and found examples of them on the map and got ready to on a day-long run today and maybe the same for tomorrow. I started off by adding gyms, parks, police stations in case I get lucky. I also added a few mechanics' and buildings or houses under construction where there would be laborers. And I was off, the areas I could cover, while running, were mostly close by. I paid attention to my scannable radius and made sure to be close to the people I could see who had potential as improvements. I made three rounds of all of them and found quite a few people. Since I only needed to be in range to start the forced enhanced mode and not remain in range after it started I made sure to use that to my advantage in the 2nd and 3rd round that I ran.

Next day morning I got up and did my exercise routine and felt a little improvement that brought a smile to my face and repeated it and relaxed on Sunday till the evening and then went out for a jog again. This time things got a little interesting. During my second round, while I was running, I reached one of the more out-of-the-way gyms and saw 6 people standing outside the gym, 4 with tire irons and 2 with hockey sticks. That is when I made the blunder of thinking to myself " Hey these look like tough guys who might be in a gang, it should be a good idea to cross close by and scan them too."

As soon as I reached 20 meters from them, One of the guys wearing a jacket and sweatpants shouted at me " hey you come here, I have seen you running around here today and multiple time yesterday, what are you trying to do?"

And then the alarm bells started ringing in my head, I turned around and found the way blocked by 3 people with hockey sticks that came out of one of the alleyways. My energy started flowing through me enhancing my senses, reflexes and reaction time, I did the smart thing and I didn't start my forced enhance yet, since it would last only 5 minutes, it would have to be the back up in case of a fight or if I could find a clear path to run away. I started running towards the 3 guys and so did the 6 guys behind me. I knew it would come to a fight and this worked out for the hero only in the movies, in the real world I would get beaten to a pulp, escape was my only option.

My plan, in this case, was simple, I would enter my enhanced mode with all 9 of them in range and reach the best possible stage as soon as I reached the 3 in front and try to get past them, after that it would be a dead sprint, the forced enhanced mode would become shorter than 5 minutes if I ran a dead sprint but even then if it lasted 60 seconds I would be able to cover 500 meters, which is a world record level speed and the ending of the enhanced mode would still let me jog at an acceptable pace to reach the police station 3 km away from here, before these guys caught up to me, which should hopefully be a safe zone.

As they say, no plan survives contact with the enemy, of the three guys, 2 of them charged towards me while the third stayed behind and there went my plan down the drain. I decided to let it go if I was gonna get beaten up I was gonna give it as bad as I got. I charged up the guy on my right as I reached close enough he like an amateur idiot swung his long hockey stick in a wide arc preventing his fellow gangster from coming closer, lest he gets hit too. I did the only thing I could think of, I activated the forced enhanced mode, ducked and rolled under his swing towards him and jumped up with an uppercut to his jaw. I am not sure where such strength came from, but he was lifted off the ground and fell backwards. I caught the hockey stick that was in his hand and jumped towards the other guy next to him who was surprised and so struck it hard against his head that the stick broke at that end. I saw the 6 guys running towards me were surprised and stopped but I didn't stop and ran towards the third guy in front of me.

I had now gotten a very good idea of how strong I was right now. None of these guys looked strong enough to be providing this boost and I no longer was interested in finding out who it was. The difference between me and this person was so much that in just a few seconds I could already feel pain from the damage this was causing me. I decided to get out of here and when I am much more accomplished in actual fighting ability, to make a return to find out if this person could be an ally or enemy, in either case, this scan would allow me to keep improving for at least the rest of the year maybe even 2 or 3 more.

As I closed in on the third and only guy standing in front of me and my freedom, he too charged toward me, his face full of anger and swung his hockey stick in an overhead hit, I threw the remaining piece of the hockey stick in my hand at his face. He moved his head to the side to dodge the throw successfully but still continued his overhead swing. This time with the knowledge of my enhanced strength and the really well-enhanced reaction speed, I lifted my hand and caught the other end of the stick and turned my body while pulling it with the turn. This jerked him forward and unbalanced him allowing me to land a solid elbow to the side of his head before he could regain his balance. I left the other end of the stick in my right hand and punch him as hard could from that awkward angle right in his nose breaking it. That was that my path was clear, the rest of them were still a few meters behind me, so I ran for it like I had planned and didn't slow down till the forced enhanced mode ran out. Only after that did I turn to look behind and see if they were still coming. On seeing that they weren't, I waited on the side of the road for a few minutes to catch my breath and then jogged back to the police station. When I reached there, I talked to one of the Constables that I usually wave to when crossing the station during my runs. He told me that the gym was being used by a small-time gang who operated in that area and as long as I didn't go back there I should be fine.

I decided that it was enough of an adventure, running around town and should just join a gym to increase my growth rate of physical capabilities or just exercise at home and that should be enough to reach levels stronger than I would need for sports. I also decided at some point to learn an actual martial art for self-defense or maybe even offense if the need should arrive.
