14. Gift

"I see. So we had moved out of here in your dream," Mr. Franklin spoke. His right hand placed on his chin as he sat before Valerian. His figure bent forward on the desk before him.

"Yes. And it would seem it was about to be bought by someone else." Stated Valerian, half deep into thought. He had come to meet the leader of the church right after his dream, and a few things had happened as they had occurred in the dream.

One was the fact that his mother did cook, only that she had a different attire on. She had spoken exactly as she had within the dream, only that his tone lacked the excitement it had in the vision of sorts. Deja vu had permeated his mind during those moments.

The man heaved a sigh at that point. Valerian thought something was up and he was right. The man furrowed his bros in seeming unwillingness, before dropping his shoulder to focus on the young man before him.

'He only recently became part of us, and you're already showing him things,' said the pastor, inwardly.

"Your dream wasn't wrong. We truly are planning to leave this place. It will happen in a few months." Mr. Franklin announced and watched the expression of the young man before him flicker. But he simply nodded afterwards. Understanding appearing on his face.

"I had not thought to tell you before, but it would seem whatever is to happen is dependent on that event, or close. I remain uncertain," he explained rubbing his chin and straightening his back on his chair.

He fell into a bit of thought and felt his gaze wander until it landed on the white ceiling. The window behind him being closed featured spots that allowed the sunlight to peer in, illuminating certain portions of that office room.

The white light above them remained unable to swallow the intensity of the sun's light, even if it didn't do much.

The silence that had befallen the room allowed the sound of the ceiling fan to fill up that void. It got a bit unsettling and Mr. Franklin lowered his gaze again. He wondered what was to happen to the young man, Valerian.

'It'll be good. It always is,' he chanted inwardly.

"I see you're taking the news well. I understand that you have found this place as a sort of home. You come here frequently, even members have noticed you," Franklin explained gaining Valerian's attention.

Understanding what the man meant, Val simply gave a soft smile, unable to properly articulate how he felt. Knowing the man would be leaving allowed a certain sense of loneliness to bloom in his heart.

"How far will you be going?" He managed to ask.

"We found a place in Merva," answered Franklin and he watched the eyebrows on Valerian's face rise.

"That's a bit far away from here," stated Valerian. "Won't you lose members?"

"We definitely will. But it's what's best for the church," the man nodded, having already made up his mind and even announced that decision to the members.

"Is it about money, I can call in my dad for some help-" Val was cut short by the man's raised hand.

"I appreciate your concern and even willingness to help. But it's more than me. I have something to do over there, that's why were are moving," he explained in a relaxed yet decisive tone.

It was Valerian's turn to heave a sigh at that point. It would be sad to see the church move. He had never really attended any sermons, but he had spent enough time with the pastor to learn a whole lot from him.

"I guess I'll use the next few months to do my best and learn from you. I find my confidence has grown this past few days," Valerian spoke up, allowing the sadness of that reality to vanish and bringing forth a new spirit.

"It's a great sight to find someone as young as you interested in the things of above. You'll never regret it if you stick to it," Mr. Franklin smiled boisterously. His tone spoke of honesty and his eyes gleamed with genuine feelings.

A bit embarrassed; Valerian scratched his head. "It's not exactly easy, but I know you know that."

"I know. But that is why your efforts have garnered respect from me. I believe you'll turn out a wonderful tool in the hands of the master," the man shook his head before falling silent a bit. He reached for a book within one of the six drawers he had.

"I was going to give this to you when I saw you next, but now that you know about the plan to move, you're allowed to know that I will be busy for the next few weeks."

"Oh, um, okay," Val's gaze fell on the simple-looking notepad.

"Yes. It's a note of my earlier years. I believe they'll help you a lot since I did learn a lot of things during my days of youth as newly changed," Mr. Franklin explained passing the yellow note to Val's side of the desk.

Falling silent, Valerian took hold of it and flipped its cover open. A series of hand-writings entered his view. They looked a bit messy, but they were legible enough for reading.

"Thank you, sir. I'll use it to the best of my abilities," Valerian announced even if he knew fulfilling that would be a bit difficult.

Studying had never been his strong suit, even if he never got bad grades during his time in school. At the very least he'd try his best to check it out.

Franklin nodded standing up. Valerian instinctively raised his head at the man's movement and he too stood. The height difference between the both of them remained a bit significant.

Valerian was only 17 but he stood at a height of 5ft9. He sensed he would grow a bit more, but he already stood taller than most individuals.

"I will be leaving now. I have a few things to do today,' The man announced packing up. He owned a black backpack where he kept his laptop and a few other things related to his work and church.

"I understand," Valerian nodded waiting until the man was done before he approached the door.

"I can give you a ride home if you want. I know you said your parents are on the hard side, but it'll still be nice knowing the parents of the son that visits me occasionally," Franklin suggested arcing an eyebrow.

Valerian furrowed his eyebrows at the man's words. He wouldn't like that. Mr. Franklin saw this and shook his head with a knowing smile.

"Maybe next time," Valerian stated. "And I'll walk." He added as they left the room. Mr. Franklin spoke to a few people whilst Valerian exited the church's gate.

His arrival home was met with the sight of his sisters watching Tv. He waved at them and immediately went up. Until the hour of four arrived he would not eat. No wonder that detail had also been in his dream. Weird.

Laying on his bed, Valerian fell into a bit of thought before strangely falling asleep and having a dream about his school.

He woke up a few hours later and when he left his room for food his parents called his attention and informed him about their decision of changing his school. He would be starting in two weeks.

'It seems have gained the gift of dreaming. Clear ones at that,' Valerian noted inwardly, finding two times of similar occurrences much more than a coincidence.

Lets move on!
