48 48. The unusual help

Emma was about to fall asleep when she heard the computer's voice. ''What? They stuffed all those people inside the shelter but didn't provide enough food? Arent they soldier's families? What do those people think about it? Do they even have brains?''

She even started cursing, completely oblivious that he forgot to turn off the microphone. ''This can't do. Are they close?''

Mario and others could literally hear her talking to the computer as she seems oblivious to listeners. ''They are in the north of the country. Not only they have no food, but the electricity system is also working bad and soon the temperatures will fall. But that is not the last problem. If electricity fails, the system for air circulation will stop as well. The people might suffocate.''

Then she blew her top completely. ''Those Mxxxxxxxxs! They, how could they do that! There is a perfectly good space for everyone here. Why didn't they sent them here?''

Suddenly everything went silent. Mario chuckled. ''She probably realized that her mic is on. Trust her, she will find a way to save your families.''

The soldiers became serious as they heard the information. ''Will she be able to help pour families?''

Mario smiled brightly and nodded. ''She was able to save all the people here and she planned to save more, but not many were willing to live under her command. This city became own separate country. Aislin country. Trust her. If no one else, she is able to do things that simple human can not.''

His words were not far from reality. Suddenly a bunch of zombies came out sacred seclusion and started running towards the north. On their way, they even found multiple cars with computer technology and started gathering food, clothes, blankets, spare parts and so on.

''I am glad you all are fine. Please help me save those people. The storm will not come closer anytime soon. I will contact those people so they don't shoot at you.'' She sent them bunch of information through her mind and then a warm feeling flooded their bodies as she sent some of her own energy into them. ''I need to rest a bit. Be careful, please.''

Aisa sat calmly next to her mother and held her hand. ''Mother, how do you do such things? Won't that harm you?''

Emma shook her head. ''Actually, every time I help them I feel like my powers become more stable and somewhat stronger. Try to talk to them and give them power as well, you will see. But do not overexert ourself.''

As she turned to the computer she rubbed her temples. ''I guess I overdid it this time. Computer, connect me to the safe shelter of those families.''

Not long after a sound came out. ''Hello. General Lee on the phone. Who am I speaking to?''

''General Lee, my name is Emma Thompson from Aislin Country. I heard that you all have troubles. I sent help. And it should be there in a couple hours. But that help is bit different that you can expect. Some of the humans regained their intelligence, but not memories. They are trying to help as many humans as possible. unfortunately, they are zombies, they will never be humans again. So people fear them.'' She could hear him gasping.

''Listen to me well, general. This information I am giving to you as we will need their help to help you. Don't shoot at them. they are coming with the whole convoy of trucks with needed food, drinks, clothes and blankets from the nearby town. You all close your doors and stay still. Let them inside the main gate. They will run away as soon they park the trucks so they don't get killed by some 'accident''. I asked them to bring you some spare parts. But all this is not important. Ther is something bigger coming.''

General Lee held the phone as the drops of sweat appeared on his forehead. ''What else?''

''Your wonderful government almost killed the whole bunch of soldiers when they dropped a nuke in the south of the country. Unfortunately, they made zombies only stronger, faster and more furious with that. And on top of that, a radioactive storm is coming your way. You need to gather as many things as possible. The zombies will help you clean the city form, common zombies. But you definitely cant shoot at them. they hold grudges.''

What could he say else? ''Of course. Is it possible for more zombies to gain their intelligence if we could...''

Emma snapped. ''Listen! Do you think they forgot about being zombies? No, they don't. But they're not humans as well. On top of that, they don't hate either. They just help you as I asked them to do so. They are connected with me just like I am connected to you. Now. Prepare enough people to head out as soon as they leave and get the stuff inside. Then take the trucks and go to the city. You need to take care of the food for everyone. After that, it will be bad. I will try to find a way to bring you here after the storm passes.''

''Miss, why are you helping us?'' he was seriously curious. Since they entered the shelter no one contacted them no matter how much he tried to reach the heads of government.

''I saved those soldiers and they asked me to help you all. Their families are in this shelter. Why wouldn't I? Only a monster would let you die if there is another choice.'' She shook her head and went to the kitchen with headset on.

General Lee stilled. ''May I ask who else...''

''We have General Mario here and his group as well others. Later on I will let you speak to them. But now you need to hurry up. The truck convoy is almost there.'' She could still see the picture of their town and the trucks how they approached huge mountain area with unusual speed.

General Lee could hear her finishing up and the free sign coming from the phone. He put it calmly the phone down and turned his head towards group of soldiers. ''Help is on their way. Tell everyone to get in. t seems we will get help from those things. I wonder...''

Emma sat down with cup of hot chocolate and stared at their swift actions. Suddenly a bunch of people started running inside and as they closed the door a long line of trucks started appearing and getting parked one by one. As the zombies arrived they all jumped out trucks and started running back.

Soon the only sound of one truck could be heard that turned to go back to town while soldiers scrambled outa and looked at the truck with curiosity and fear. As they opened one by one truck they could that they were filled with all kind of things so they started unloading it while shaking their heads.

Emma and Aisa chuckled as they saw their faces. ''They can't believe that such a thing is possible. But they need to hurry up.''

One hour later sounds of guns resounded through the town as a bunch of zombies started shooting at crowd of zombies that they gathered in one side of town. The zombies gathered around the sound but as the others were zombies as well, they didn't know what to attack actually.

Soon even the last zombie was killed and as soldiers came with convoy of trucks they saw streets filled with dead bodies and few zombies running away with guns in their hands.

General Lee shouted through the radio. ''Shoot only if you get attacked. The ones that are helping us will not attack. Understood!''

Everyone realized that already, so even tho they felt a bit uncomfortable they didn't shoot when they saw few zombies standing near few stores and pointing inside. They rushed in as they had no time for wasting and rushed to get all the food they could.

General Lee's radio resounded with Emma's tired voice. But what he didn't know was state everyone heard it. ''Ther are storage areas behind as well. I would recommend repacking the things in big boxes and not only small things. Those you can gather later on. The wind changed so you have been given some time more. But that doesn't mean that you need to crawl like slugs. Hurry up!''

General Lee sighed and started commanding. Luckily many men, women and older children came as well to help so they had enough people. As they packed quickly they heard more trucks arriving and zombies jumped out the trucks and rushed away.

General Lee shook his head. ''It seems they are doing their best, really. We need to do our best as well. Check the trucks.''

One of the soldiers came back with a huge smile. ''General! Generators! They brought generators and air filters and water filters. Ther are almost five trucks filled only with that.''

General Lee turned his head and saluted to one of the zombies with respect. ''Thank you.''

The zombie just rolled his eyes and went away leaving the people and General Lee flabbergasted. They didn't care about their greetings. they did this only for Emma and Aisa. Just for them...
