31 31. Helping them to escape

''Sir, we got a secret message from our undercover agent in the shelter. The King is outside as it seems and the Commander is his brother. What should we do?''

''Let the agent stay still for a while. Keep your eyes open and try to find him. He must have hidden again like an old fox. We need to find him and he has to help us take over the shelter. That is the only way for our survival.''

''Sir that Emma Thompson is not simple as well.''

''We have our people there. When we are sure that the time came, we can just order her murder and let our agent take over it. But not yet. She has many useful ideas. We still need her brain to work a bit longer. For now, she is no danger to our project anyway. Just let her be, for now.''

The message that the agent got was clear. Stay away from trouble until further notice. Lay low and don't stand out...

So everything went back to ''normality''. Now for full five days, Emma was continuously on her personal computer. Sarah came a few times but seeing Emma completely engrossed into her search she would leave shortly after that.

''Mam, the zombie tide is already over a hundred miles away from the town should we tell people to come out and rush towards the border?'' Oliver's voice made Emma snap out her world.

She rubbed her dry eyes and sighed. ''Let me just take shower and let everyone get ready. I will need all free computers to be filled with helpers. This time, I think many people will want to get here. If not, their bad.''

''If nothing else we can help Gomez family come here and safely arrive.''

She chuckled. ''Yes. We could do that.''

This time she took an almost cold shower to wake up her senses, drunk two cups of the strongest coffee and went with steady steps into the elevator together with Aisa.

''Mother, I will help as much as I can as well.'' She was actually almost as good as Emma on the computer.

Emma hugged her and then pinched her cheeks until they were red. ''You little cutie pie. Awww. By day you are getting prettier and prettier. One day some boy will steal you from me and I will be alone again.''

''Mother, in my current state I might be the one that steals the man. And by the way, my new father would feel sad if he knew that you plan to live the rest of your life without him.'' She pouted as she mischievously looked at Emma's face that turned pink.

''You... '' The door opened and Aisa escaped. She turned around and smile brightly.

''This naughty child. She plans already for me to get married? I just got rid of one lunatic, I have no wish ever to get married again. To live such a disgusting life again, no thanks.'' She lamented as she slowly walked and looked at her daughter sitting with group of friends, putting earphones and giving her mother thumb up as she was ready.

She couldn't even get angry. Aisa was too cute and lovable. Bit fresh but still the best child she ever met and was really proud of her.

She entered the commanding center and as the door closed a man came out the corner and looked at her back greedily. ''You hid well your beauty from me. Do you think you an escape me now after I saw your real face? Marrying another man? In your dreams, you are mine and will always be.''

He went back to his work with an evil smile and other people around him just stepped back as they felt scared. Since he came they all felt anxious and scared around him.

But the next level of coldness enveloped their bodies and they just started vigorously working harder just to stop thinking about him. But in his mind, he already started remembering things from before. And he regretted many things. He needs to get rid of some people to get closer to her again, yes. But how to do it without making it obvious?

His eyes were somewhere else but his hands worked like he was concentrated on his work.

In the commanding deck, many things start happening right away as soon as Emma entered.

''Connect me to the family Gomez.'' Her order was clear.

Moments later nervous man's voice answered. ''Miss Thompson, we are ready. Let us know when can we move.''

''Do you have bags filled with basic needs?'' She asked just to make sure.

''We had them ready since last time we spoke. You said we will go as soon you contact us so we prepared in advance.''

''Put the protection clothes on NOW. You are moving right away. Hurry. ''

He didn't expect that but she could hear them helping each other put the protection clothes and masks.

''Ready?'' Her question was more for herself than for them. The great screen on all levels turned on and everyone could see and hear what is going on. They all stopped with their work if they could and sat down to watch. Emma only showed the most important direct transmissions.

''I checked your surroundings. There are two zombies next street. As soon as you exit you have to be extremely quiet. As soon you turn that car on they will start getting crazed. You will have just a small amount of time to get out of the garage and get everyone on board.'' She was worried they wouldn't be able to get in before the zombies arrive.

''We spoke about that. I will open backdoor first and we will slowly enter and start the car after we are all inside safely. That makes the most sense.''

''Good idea indeed.'' She looked one more time the videos outside, but the audio still was silent so she was quite scared of missing something.

''We can see at the moment everything, but unfortunately, we can't hear. So all we can do is to show you the way. Now get ready... go!''

She saw them rushing out of the shelter and slowly approaching the corner of their house. Then opening slowly the gate and rushing towards the garage. But then there was a problem with the automatic door on the garage.

They rushed back into the house and all they could do is wait.

One minute passed, two minutes passed... Ten minutes passed. Suddenly a car broke back through the gate and started spinning for a second. The zombies suddenly started jumping out of the houses and rushing towards them. They just started driving running over a few of them.

Emma snapped out her surprise and ordered. ''Connect to the car radio.''

Soon she could hear laughter from the other side and shook her head. ''Congratulations, you just alarmed half of the block that is now running after you.'' The laughter stopped as they realized their new situation.

''Hose, did you find more people that could join in?''

''Yes. I told them to wait for us on the empty land street and just follow us. Before we left we got a call from them that they are already waiting there.'' He just runs over another zombie and slid sideways.

''Stop hitting them on purpose. That will slow you down and you can get in an accident. Just hurry to the street I will contact them. Aisa, take over the Gomez family. You and your friends lead them out of the town.''

Suddenly Aisa's face appeared on screen and as she calmly led the Gomez family, Emma contacted the people in the long procession of cars. But the problem was not them...
