The First

Darkness... An endless abyss or just a small dark room. There was no real way to describe this place due to there being nothing to describe, except for the fact that there is nothing.

It was the first 'thing' I saw when I awoke, it felt as though there was a black cloth covering my eyes. Raising my hands and touching my face, there was nothing, no substance of any kind. After the initial confusion passed I crouched down to the ground and started to feel around in hopes of finding something... Anything really.

After what felt like an hour, I finally gave up my search. Looking around once more and seeing nothing once again I laid on my back, lost in my thoughts. Thoughts such as 'where is this?', 'why am I here?' and 'am I dead?' were soaring throughout my mind as of this moment. After lying down for 20 minutes or so I started to become drowsy and eventually fell asleep.

As I opened my eyes I was greeted with an entirely different world. Looking around the view was quite similar to the great redwood forest. Lush flora, towering trees that reached the clouds, along with the silence of nature, it created a beautiful scene. Stupefied by my surroundings I was spinning in circles looking around without a care in the world.

After coming to my senses I looked down at my body. I appeared to be fine physically as well as mentally at the moment, except for the confusion about the current situation. I was wearing a simple outfit at the moment, a simple but comfortable light gray T-shirt coupled with tan colored joggers, oddly I wasn't wearing shoes.

Glancing back at the forest once more I focused on the ground, picking up a stick I placed it vertical and let go. Looking in the direction it was pointing I began walking. Now, this may have seemed like a cool-headed decision, but in all actuality, I was having a mini panic attack.

Making my way throughout the forest I came across many different forms of wildlife. Plants that glowed faintly, vines that had scale-like patterns, as well as the occasional bird flying past. There were also slightly familiar animals that I had come across. One of the more familiar animals was a deer-like being with the teeth of a wolf paired with goat-like horns and a longer than usual tail. There were other such odd creations but they didn't look much like anything I'd seen before. Thinking about it, why are these things familiar? I don't know who I am, where I'm from, or how I got here, but I find things to be familiar.

Quite the odd situation I have ended up in, if I do say so myself...

I've been walking through this forest for quite some time. Along my 'adventure' I picked up some interesting things. One of these things is a cool looking rock I found stuck on a tree. It is quite shiny and looking at it from different angles gives it a weird effect, almost as if it is a heart, beating within my hands. It had some nice colors to it as well, some light blues, a silver streak here and there, along with a black ball of sorts positioned within the very center. This rock also had a sort of glow, although dim it was still quite noticeable.

Continuing my journey, I have finally exited the forest. Looking around there was a plain, no lush grasses though, just a barren patchy mess of dead grass. There was the occasional bunch of rocks piled upon one another. Looking on the horizon there is a mountain, appearing quite solitary but majestic, showing off its extensive history. I started walking once again, this time heading toward the mountain.

A little after our mysterious traveler left the forest shadows appeared from within the forest, stopping at the edge of the forest. They stood there mixed amongst the bushes, vines, as well as on tree branches watching as the traveler left.

As I was walking I approached one of the piles of rocks, except they weren't rocks. Looking at it, it was a pile of shit. It was one of the worst things I've smelt along my not to long journey. running away from this soul destroying stench, I made my way toward the mountain.

One thing that I feel should be mentioned is that I have yet to feel any hunger nor any form of fatigue. My mouth feels a bit dry, but it is something easily fixed with a small glass of water. It is quite worrying though, that I don't feel hunger.

About an hour or so into my journey it started to get dark. Now initially I thought that some weird monster would come and eat me, but I have run into no such problems as of this point. I did see vague shapes of animals running toward the forest, but other than that I have seen nothing else. One interesting thing is that there are two moons in the sky.

Now, I have gotten quite close to the mountain at this point. Although it is still a bit far, I could get there within 10 to 20 minutes or so. Looking closer, there seemed to be massive chunks missing from the side of the mountain appearing as though the mountain was torn apart in several places.

Approaching within several tens of yards around the mountain I could feel heat radiating from it. As I got closer and closer, the temperature was slowly increasing. At the very edge of the mountain I was looking upon the very peak of the mountain. The mountain's peak was extremely flat, similar to a steppe, but no where near in its expanse of grasses. The mountain's peak wasn't very wide, visually from the bottom it only appeared to be roughly the size of a 3-car garage.

Making a split-second decision, I began climbing the mountain.

[Halfway up the mountain]

This was probably one of the worst decisions I have ever made. The path I had made up to this point was extremely tiresome, mentally anyways. I never thought this would be so difficult.

The beginning was far simpler. At the start, if I met any obstacles, I could just walk around. But as I continued on my hike it gradually went from an easy walk-around to me trying to figure out how to scale a cliff. Getting to the half-way point on the mountain was purely trial and error.

Looking down the mountain, I winced at how long it had taken me to get to the point and how I got here. Looking toward the mountain peak I cringed at the struggles and hardships to follow. With one more reproachful glance at the mountain top, I once again started climbing.

Reaching my hand up to the ledge, I pulled myself up and over, rolling onto my back I stared blankly at the clouds rolling by. A sense of achievement was flowing throughput my whole body, feeling quite similar to being full of adrenaline.

After having lied down for a few minutes I stood back up and looked down the mountain. With a big grin on my face I took a deep breath. With my eyes shut as tight as possible I roared at the sky, effectively releasing my pent up frustration.

Listening to my voice echo accross the plains in front of me I let out a silent chuckle. Turning back, I looked around at the top of the mountain before being frozen in place. Standing in front of me was a massive black 'lion' with angelic wings, standing at a height of almost seven feet on all fours, the beast towered over me. As I was fearing for my life, the lion on the other hand was looking at the mysterious guest with curiosity.

The lion approached me step-by-step. As soon as the lion got close enough it stuck its head out and began to sniff me. As I was frozen in place the lion was walking around me doing circles and switching directions every few seconds or so.

After a few minutes had gone by the lion stopped and sat down right in front of me. The lion gave of a weird feeling and its eyes were most likely the source of this. The lion's eyes appeared to be looking into me, while in reality its eyes were glossed over. as I mentally felt sweat dripping down my back, I started to slowly take a step backward. The lion, as if sensing something pounced at me.

In a brief moment of fear, I slipped backward with my eyes shut tight...

After a few seconds passed without any sort of pain being felt, I slowly opened my eyes. Where the lion was once sitting proudly was now empty, the lion seemed to disappear. Looking around in confusion, I managed to spot the lion falling down the mountain and eventually spread its wings and begin gliding.

Watching the lion gliding through the sky was quite a grand scene. It would have been better if not for the fact that it was flying toward me at an extremely fast speed.

Turning around I went into a sprint. Looking around the top of the mountain I tried to find a spot to hide. Finding a large rock I bolted behind it. Luckily I made it just in time, seeing as the lion had gotten back onto the mountain peak and was scouring the whole peak looking for me...
