Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I tried to think about the events that made me enter this world. I only remember a flash of light and then darkness, but that wasn't the end it was only the beginning. I woke up as a teen, based on my height, I had a pale body with green eyes and pitch-black hair. I tried to walk but I fell because my legs were shaking, for some reason I was only able to focus on what my eyes were seeing after I fell. That's when I saw it.

A vast expanse of green with a hint of amber. I looked farther and suddenly my vision seemed to go on endlessly which wasn't true as my vision stopped expanding after a week's worth of travel by foot. I focused on my hearing and every little sound in the area became loud enough for me to feel pain, but that didn't stop me. I wanted to focus on all of my senses for a reason unknown to me. I felt, saw, heard, and smelled the world. It felt intoxicating at first but then I felt nothing after a few seconds.

I realized something once I removed the focus on all my senses. My eyes and ears were bleeding but I felt no pain.

I had an idea.

I walked around for a few minutes looking at the lush forest with amber leaves and colorful orbs floating in the air. I tried to touch them, but whenever I did, they turned grey and fell to the ground which absorbed the orb.

I found a twig on the ground and stabbed my eye which healed while I was walking. I felt nothing though. I fell unconscious and woke up at night when I realized that my eye was completely fine but I felt extremely empty.

I decided to ask some questions to myself while lying next to a tree.

'What am I?'

'Where am I?'

'Why am I here?'

All questions with no answers yet.

I heard a crack. 'It was no accident that fate led me here.' I thought hoping that whatever I might find would have some answers.

I ran towards the sound and found a group of things that looked exactly like me except… the orbs were hugging them.

I was perplexed. Why did the orbs choose them over me?

I moved those thoughts aside since they might have the answers I've been looking for. I went up to them and found out that they made weird sounds with their mouth and moved them so they could understand each other.

I tried repeating what they said. "What is… up…. With the… for… est… tod…ay"

They immediately whipped their heads around and looked towards me. I saw the fear in their eyes for a split second. It gave me a sense of satisfaction. I wanted more, but the answers came first.

"Who are you?" I understood them but didn't know what to answer. I repeated the words I said but in a more fluent tone.

"What is up with the forest today." They looked confused, maybe they didn't understand me. I repeated.

"What is up with the forest today."

They started to feel nervous which I got from the look of their eyes. It gave me another sense of satisfaction which I set aside so I could get some answers.

"Do you know any other words child?" The man in a white rob said. He was shorter than me so I was confused on why he called me a child.

I thought maybe I should repeat what he said instead. It felt weird to move my mouth in a specific way to make the sound for the letters. "Do… you know… any other words…. child?"

He sighed and talked to his group a bit which I heard as I focused on my ears.

"He seems to be retarded." The man in leather armor with a metal plate on his chest and shoulders with a Great axe in his right hand. He seems to be right-handed.

"Don't say that out loud! He might hear you." The lady in dark blue robes and a large hat with a staff in her right hand, but her left hand seems much more precise in its control. She might be left-handed.

'I wonder if my ears are starting to bleed.' As soon as I thought about that I felt liquid in my left ear. I immediately unfocused my ears. I sat on the ground until someone noticed that my ear was bleeding.

"His ears are bleeding!" The woman screamed. 'Blood seems to be a sign of pain and injury based on their eyes.' I was happy that I found that out.

The man in white robes kneeled and started to chant in a language that made my ears feel weird. I felt my ears dry up and I touched it and felt no blood. 'They're like me… They can even make blood go away for other people.' I thought until I saw the fourth member of their group which was a person who was pale and bleeding.

"Bleeding." I said while pointing at the fourth member. "It's too late for him kid… He already died from blood loss a while ago." I had another realization which made me feel lonely in my heart.

'They don't have the same ability that I do. They aren't like me.' I felt somewhat sad that I was the only one that could get my eyes back if I stabbed them.

"Hungry." They looked at me for a while surprised that I said that while pointing at my stomach then at their member.

"The bloody lad's a cannibal it seems! I knew he wasn't normal." The burly man said which now looking at him seemed to be shorter than both the man in robes and the woman.

"We don't eat our friends nor do we eat corpses. That's one way to a hanging in some towns" the man in white robes said gently. I started to understand some of their customs and felt that I knew enough of their language.

"What am I?" I asked

"You don't know? You're a human. A being with no special abilities but endless potential." I finally held a clue to what I was. I knew he said I was a human but since our abilities don't match, I'll guess that I am a special case.

"Can I join?" Trying to expand my vocabulary. "Now the cannibal wants to join? Alexander, you better not do what I think you will do." The man of short stature said.

"Alexander?" I waited for who Alexander might be to answer. "He's just a kid. We can teach him, and if you don't like it you can just not talk to him while he travels with us." Alexander, who was the man in white robes, said.

They started walking towards the exit of the forest and that's when I saw the moon. It whispered to me "HE WHO DOES NOT BELONG SHALL SET US FREE." I felt my ears bleeding again but I also felt my eyes bleed too. I screamed "MY EARS ARE BLEEDING!" since I hoped Alexander would remove it faster than my body could.

Alexander looked at me and I could see the shock on his face. He immediately tried to heal me. "The boy's been spoken to by the blood moon! Quick Fergus get the ear blockers!" Alexander ordered the short man to get ear blockers and they plugged it in. He then proceeded to heal me and I fell asleep.

Was the first chapter good? I'd like to listen to what you think about it so I can write better.
