Chapter 15: The Unscientific Bamboo Copter and Synesthesia.

As Junichiro sits in front of his desk, He takes the notebook he uses to note down all technologies he got from the system. After all, He never knew whether the data inside his computer might be stolen or hacked.
Despite being a great hacker and also possessing Artificial Intelligence, He could never underestimate this world's great hackers. Before having a private server, he will never put all his research data inside a computer.
'Although it might be just my paranoia, I think it is still good to be cautious.' Junichiro thought.
After one and a half weeks since he transmigrated, he already got 4 technologies from the system. Power enhancing kick shoes, Haro Robot, Anesthetic Watch, and finally Bamboo copter.
2 from weekly gacha, and 2 from a mission. He got the bamboo copter technologies from the mission of creating his own club. However, he decided to just abandon this technology due to the impossibilities of him creating it with the current level of technology.

As some of you might know, Bamboo Copter is one of the future gadgets from the world of Doraemon. At a glance, you might think that this technology is unscientific or impossible to create.
Of course, most Doraemon Gadgets defy physics, causality, and even the softest take of sci-fi rule. Do you think trying to apply ordinary physics law to Bamboo copter would make any sense?
'But, in fact, it can make sense…or rather the system makes it that way.'
These technologies make Junichiro certain of the nature of his system. The ASS system doesn't just give him the technologies from the description in the anime but also a component with scientific reasoning on how the technology could work through other means.
Let's just take this bamboo copter as an example. What do you think is the most unscientific thing about this technology? Is it the lift force capable of lifting the weight of a human body (or more) with just a small single dual-blade rotor from the ground?
Unfortunately no…
You don't believe me? I, the Author, will give you a lesson!
The calculation of a lift force generated from a helicopter rotor or a fan blade can be calculated with the Lift Force formula of L= ½(p)(v)^2(A)(C lift).
Where L= lift force (N), p= air density (kg/m^3), v=True rotor speed relative to wind speed(m/s), A=area of rotor (m^3) and C lift= Lift coefficient. Since the other is easily understandable, I will talk about the lift coefficient.
The lift coefficient (CL) is a dimensionless coefficient that relates the lift generated by a lifting body to the fluid density around the body, the fluid velocity, and an associated reference area. A lifting body is a foil or a complete foil-bearing body such as a fixed-wing aircraft. CL can also be depicted as a function of the angle of the body to the flow, its Reynolds number, and its Mach number. The section lift coefficient Cl refers to the dynamic lift characteristics of a two-dimensional foil section, with the reference area replaced by the foil chord.
Well... In simple terms,
it is just the efficiency of how much lift force is generated depending on the rotor's angle of attack(blade tilting angle). The higher the rotor's angle of attack(blade tilting angle), the higher the lifting force.
Though, at high speed, the air resistance will be so high that it becomes inefficient which makes modern helicopters change their own rotor blade's angle of attack depending on its speed, altitude, and other factors.
Now, from the anime, we can see that Bamboo copter is capable of even lifting giant (character in Doraemon, not a literal giant) or sometimes two or more people. Hence the mass it needs to lift for a simple calculation can be taken as 200 kg or around 2000 N of lifting force needed.
Air density will be taken as 1.204 (kg/m^3 ) assuming the density of air is at sea level and temperature at 20 degrees Celsius.
From the anime, the blade length is around 12 cm or 0.12m with a width of 2 cm or 0.02m. Since there are two blades, the total blade area is taken as 0.0048 m^2.
Finally, we will take the angle of attack at 16 degrees where the lift coefficient is maximum at 1.7 before falling down due to air drag. (see graph in the comment to give a visual perspective.)
Now let's calculate the speed required!
L= ½(p)(v)^2(A)(C lift).
2000= ½(1.204)(v)^2 (0.0048)(1.7)
v=638.0749 m/s
Now, you see, although it is faster than the speed of sound (343 m/s), it is still possible (in the future) with better material and a more powerful motor/rotor.
Hence, Physically it is scientific. But not BIOLOGICALLY!
Forget about the constant sonic boom you get on top of your head that will bleed all your seven orifices, just the fact the bamboo copter just pulls your head from the top will break your neck!
If I were you, I wouldn't want to just prop it on my head as it would fly off or it would choke me, I wouldn't want to wear that Bamboo-copter thing at all!
'Thankfully the System has made it more scientific… or a little bit. It put a fucking Anti-gravity device on this technology!' Junichiro thought as he cursed.
There are actually several different types of anti-gravity devices. From magnetic levitation, geo-electromagnetic repulsion, to the real anti-gravity field that negates the gravitational force itself.
However, this thing takes it to another level by putting anti-Higgs field technology.
For those who don't know, the Higgs field is a field generated by the Higgs boson particle, one of the elementary particles in particle physics. What this field does is… let's just say in simple terms.
Ahem… In simple terms, it is what makes a particle/matter get its mass.
To give you a comparison, imagine Higgs field as a room full of scientists.
Now imagine Einstein suddenly coming inside this room. The surrounding scientist will of course try to talk to him and surround him. Just like Einstein, a particle with a high mass will have more interaction with the Higgs field and give out more mass (more crowds)
Now imagine a normal male scientist coming inside. There will probably only be one or two scientists who come to him because they know him. Just like this scientist, a particle with a low mass will have less interaction with the Higgs field and give out less mass (fewer crowds)
Now imagine a normal guy like you suddenly coming inside… No one cares about you. And just like you, a particle with no mass like photons will have no interaction with the Higgs field and give out no mass.
So what the anti-Higgs field does is to create a semi-repulsive force-field through electromagnetic force to decrease the matter interaction with the Higgs field.
Why is it must be semi-repulsive? Because if all Higgs fields are taken away from a matter, that matter/thing will just move at the speed of light (since it has no mass) and physics will start to jumble up there (Even though it already is).
This can actually be seen in anime when the battery starts to empty and Nobita and his friend would spin out of control instead of the rotor spinning.
This means that they have less mass than the rotor that making them spin instead of the rotor. This might be caused by a malfunction in the Anti-Higgs field generator inside the Copter when it is supplied with an insufficient amount of energy.
Though in real-life… They are already dead as this can break their neck already.
Now into another problem, some may already notice that I say photons (particle carriers of electromagnetic waves) don't have any interaction with a Higgs field. That might be true to a certain extent but did you know that the four fundamental forces in the universe( Electromagnetic, Gravity, Strong nuclear force, Weak nuclear force) are actually interchangeable?
This semi-repulsive Anti-Higgs field is actually not just a pure EM field as it also uses components from the gravitational, strong, and weak force.
Hence It is also the reason why it is impossible for him to create one since he needs to first unite the four fundamental forces in the universe into a formula… just like the only one humanity able to solve just now, the electro-weak formula that combines electromagnetic force and weak nuclear force into an equation.
'This is a fucking world-class unsolved problem in physics! I would already have a Nobel prize by the time I created this thing. Looks like its rank being a question mark(?) is there for a reason…' Junichiro thought.
Well, other than the need to solve this world-class problem that is not explained in the technology he got from the system, he also needs to find a way to get full Metal. A metal that is the vital component of this bamboo copter's Anti-Higgs field technology.
This metal is explained in the Doraemon: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum movie as being a metal found by Dr. Hartman from the synthesis in artificial sun technology.
Simply put, Junichiro needed to create an artificial sun before getting the material needed just to create a bamboo copter.
'Crazy and illogical indeed!'
Deciding to just end his thought for this technology, Junichiro decided to just train one of the abilities he has tried since three days ago after he knew he got his <Hyper Brain> from the system. An ability that allows him to manipulate 100% of his brain function and enhance his sense of perception.
This ability he is trying to get is called <Synesthesia>.
It is a neurological phenomenon where people experience different senses as colors or shapes.
Synesthesia is when you hear music, but you see shapes. Or you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. Synesthesia is a fancy name for when you experience one of your senses through another. For example, you might hear the name "Alex" and see green. Or you might read the word "street" and taste citrus fruit.
Hence, the user of this ability possesses the ability to "see" odors and trace them down to where the smell fades or is too indistinguishable from other smells to trace any further.
The word "synesthesia" has Greek roots. It translates to "perceive together." People who have this ability are called synesthetes. Synesthesia isn't a disease or disorder. It won't harm your health, and it doesn't mean you're mentally ill. Some studies suggest people who have it may do better on memory and intelligence tests than those who don't. And while it may seem easy to makeup, there's proof that it's a real condition(In real life!).
One of the most common responses is to see letters, numbers, or sounds as colors. You might also:
- See or hear a word and taste food
- See a shape and taste food
- Hear sounds and see shapes or patterns
- Hear sounds after you smell a certain scent
- Hear sounds and taste food
- Feel an object with your hands and hear a sound
- Feel a touch when seeing someone else being touched. (This is called mirror-touch.)
And more…
With his Hyper Brain, he can use his whole brain. Hence, he just needs to find whatever part of his brain makes a synesthete from the smell he sense (nose) and connect it to the color output of his visual perception(eyes).
"Now let's do it again. Connecting my Olfactory Cortex, giving chemical output for my ventral occipital lobe, and now, synthesizing it to… there! So it is in my parietal frontal lobe!"

A multitude of colors appears in front of his eyes representing different kinds of smells inside his room. Though his consciousness starts to fade away as it seems that unlocking this ability requires a lot of energy from his brain.
Junichiro can only sleep on top of his bed for now as he will continue testing his new ability tomorrow.
