The Unforeseen awakening

The Current Date on Earth was 2020. It was before the Earth's awakening, Global Warming had been regarded as their most imminent danger without the foresight of the things to come. Earth was seen as developing quite quickly with new forms of advanced technology being produced every year. This was predicted to have continued for years to come, yet there was one thing they overlooked. Global Warming may have been considered minor at the time but how wrong they could be... Global Warming had already been past the point of no return and without the Earth's population knowing, the ozone layer was on the verge of dissipating. On 14th May 2020, that fateful day finally came.

It had been a normal morning for the populous of earth, yet their entire world would soon be turned upside down. The ozone layer finally dissipated causing UV rays to strike down on Earth like bullets, causing most of the population to burn alive. Most people thought it was the end of the world, yet how wrong they were. A minority somehow gained resistance to UV rays of the sun all while awakening supernatural and unforeseen abilities. This was not all in good favour though as just like humans some animals evolved into bloodthirsty monsters causing a great divide between the animal kingdom and humans. The rest of the Earth's human population fought a great battle with the monsters with their newly found abilities and skills causing the earth to be at standstill with half the earth ruled by monsters which was nicknamed the 'Wilderness' and half the earth shared between humans which united causing the 'New World government' to be formed consisting of all humans left on earth.

Present day- 2050, The Earth now consist of awakened humans with all sorts of abilities, some could bend the earth to their will, some could sour across the skies and some... could lose weight. This was the predicament our protagonist Noa was in, Noa was born with the f-class ability 'weight reduction' which literally meant he could lose weight with the flick of his hand, this might have seemed amazing back in 2020 but its combat abilities against monsters were nought.

Abilities were graded from F- being the weakest and A- being the strongest. If you had an F- class ability you were treated like a rock on the road whilst if you had A-class ability you were treated as of you were a Prince or Princess. And Noa's sister was exactly that, she had the A-class ability 'Metal Manipulation', which allowed her to control all metals within a ten-meter radius from her.

Noa's Full name was Noa Shadow, The Shadow family was One of the most Prestige and noble families. They were very prominent with most family members having C-A class abilities. Noa was a sad exception, he was ridiculed and outcasted to live in a cheap apartment in the City of life. The City of life was like the 'New York' of 2050. It was a highly prosperous city with very expensive land. Most of the world's top awakeners are born there.

Noa POV-

I woke up today like any other day, waking up in my cheap, dusty apartment. "When can this suffering end... *sigh". I had given up all hope on going to any Ability academy to harness my powers, Ability academies helped bring up 'explorers' who would hunt and take back territory from monsters. Of course I would never experience such an overwhelming adventure. I sluggishly arose from my dust littered sheets and freshened up in front of my cracked and musty mirror seemingly insulting me. 'Damn I wonder what's on offer at the store today, I could really use some sushi as that shits amazing! Who could have thought raw fish and rice would taste good.'

'At least I won't get fat! Hehe…hehe.'I laughed in front of the mirror like a social recluse.

I decided to go on my morning run to get some exercise in as although my abilities are lacklustre I can always better myself in some way.
