61 The Patron Gods

I couldn't help but form an O with my mouth as I listened to the woman. She was telling me that I'm not the Moonstruck of the Shapeshifters?

But what am I?

"Babe?"

"Love?"

"Baby, wake up."

I woke up from my thoughts from my mates' gentle tug. I was in a trance for a moment, not able to take in what was happening.

"I-I…" my mouth couldn't help but stutter. I tried to get the word out, any word out, but I couldn't. I could only make the small noises, starting my sentences with the first letter but couldn't follow it completely.

"Serena, calm down," Grayson smacked the back of the woman's head. She turned to him and glared, her lips formed a pout.

"It's been decades since the Shapeshifters had their Moonstruck, Grayson," Serena said. "How can I calm down?"

"Do you see this boy?" Grayson pointed his eyes at me. His hands stayed down because he was afraid my mates would get offended if he pointed at me. When Serena looked at me and nodded, Grayson spoke, "He's also a Moonstruck."

The girl chuckled, "I don't believe you. Grayson, you know I have the power to find the others, right? That's why I have been travelling all the seas to look for the one and now here he is."

"You don't get it," Grayson groaned. "Come on, Klyde. Do something."

I was hesitant. They were all looking at me, expecting for me to do something incredible. Then I turned to Serena who had her pink hair flipped. She was wearing a pink sequin dress that beautifully contrasted her caramel skin. Her eyes were blue as the oceans, calm and serene yet fierce and vast.

I turned to my mates and saw them shrug with Aaron speaking, "You can do anything, love."

I nodded and channeled my energy into my fingertips. I closed my eyes to feel the warmth of the power traveling around my body. From my heart, through the veins, in the arms, and–

"In the palm of my hands," I whispered. "Lunar Explosion!"

I opened my eyes and curled my hands together, recoiling them to my side before thrusting them forward, opening my palms and feeling the burst of energy pass through.

A small pure white orb manifested itself in a blink of an eye before it turned into a beam, blasting towards the thick concrete wall and piercing through.

"No," Serena gasped. She took a step back and looked at me, then at Nox, and finally to me. "But I don't sense any Moonstruck from you."

"That's because he's not." We all snapped our heads to the direction of the voice. Alicia was walking towards us. She was wearing a white tight dress that accentuated her body's curve and her long slender figure. The dress had a slit on the right side that showed her beautiful ebony legs.

'You never think of us like that,' I heard Stephen said from the link. I turned to him and saw them both pout, upset by how I was talking about Alicia.

I pulled them closer to me and whispered to both their ears, "Tonight, we will do something."

This put a wide grin on both my mates' lips. They were now grinning from ear to ear, the thrill and excitement from my words obviously showing.

"Klyde, I just found out," Alicia said. "I actually talked to Olivia before she could escape. You are not a Moonstruck."

"T-Then what am I?" I asked her, even after fully knowing what the answer was.

To be honest, I have always known. I have always known that I was not like a normal Shapeshifter, or even a normal Supernatural. I have something inside me that a lot of beings want and that's saying something else.

I could feel that I am special in some way. But I didn't really know what until recently. Until I had my dreams of the vast fields of flowers and the marble platform.

And the woman in white who talked to me. I knew very well who she was.

It was me who had a hard time professing everything. I just want to live a normal life with my mates. I just want to live a life full of peace, retire with them at a young age and live our lives in happiness and bliss forever.

I never thought about anything else except when Olivia started to move and everything slowly went downhill. I don't know how, I don't know why, but somehow, I found myself accepting that fact.

"I may be too intrusive that I talked to the enemy," Alicia said. "But I have found out about everything now."

"I-I'm listening," I said. "Tell me what Olivia said."

"You are the Moon Goddess's child. She had lost you when Olivia took you away, but not for the reason you know," Alicia said that got me by surprise.

I wasn't shocked when I heard that Olivia took me, I was merely surprised when she didn't intended to sacrifice me.

"What do you mean?" I asked. "And this is Olivia, right? She could just tell lies and get away with it. It's not like her to tell the truth. I learned that the hard way."

"I had an anti-lying spell on her without her knowing," Bryce said, walking alongside Brandon. "I'm sorry if we took it too far, but we just wanted to help. And if Olivia is indeed telling the truth, then you are in bigger danger than you thought."

"W-What do you mean?" I asked, gulping as I watched Bryce lift his shoulders to prepare for what he was about to say.

"The Patron Gods and Goddesses are after you," Bryce said. "You are Klyde Moonschild, the Child of the Moon. You're the Moon Goddess's sole heir. And if you would qualify to succeed on her reign, the Patron Gods could not."

"B-But I don't want any of this," I said. "I just want to live a simple here. And nowhere else."

"Then that's a bigger problem," Alicia said. "The Patron Gods aren't necessarily friendly towards us mortals."

"W-Which means?" I asked, gulping in worry.

Alicia's face said it all. She had a grim expression in her face that made me all the nervous. I clenched my mates' hands and waited for her reply.

"They will eradicate us once they have the Moon Goddess's powers."
