14 Kidnapped Mate

< Third Person >

"Where is he?!" the voice of Aaron echoed throughout the pack house's grand hall. Everyone could only tremble as the rage of their brunette alpha shook the ground they stood on. As they lowered their heads in submission, their angry alpha’s glare made their knees weaken.

"I'm sorry alpha," Avery said, his head hung low as he bowed down in front of his alphas. He was shaking. The contrast to his calm and playful manner was evident.

Aaron shook his head and turned to his blonde mate. Stephen too was looking down. He was ashamed for not following orders. He was so used to competing with Aaron, he forgot that the two of them are not the only wolves in the boat anymore.

Klyde is with them now.

"Stephen, I told you to guard him," Aaron scolded, rubbing his temple in anger. "If you weren't so childish and ran out–"

"I'm sorry!" Stephen fell to his knees and cried. "Baby, I'm sorry."

"Hush, babe. Crying won't get our mate back, as well as Kaitlyn," Aaron said to his mate, holding his hands in comfort.

"Erwin, Lawrence, as Selsas of Mercenary from both packs, dispatch the third to last squads and search for your Luna!" Aaron commanded.

"Yes, alpha," Erwin and Lawrence replied before sending their troops.

Stephen cried himself to sleep on Aaron's arms while the latter keeps on contacting their mate from their shared Alpha link.

If there’s anything Stephen feared the most, it’s to lose another loved one. After his older sister’s demise, death of a loved one was the thing that kept Stephen up at night. He was terrified of seeing someone succumb in front of him.

And most of all, he was terrified of red eyes.

Baby, where are you? Aaron asked. He waited for a few minutes, no response. He also tried contacting Kaitlyn, but to no avail.

He placed Stephen on their bed and went to the kitchen. There, he saw his older brother with red and swollen eyes from crying. With a deep inhale, Aaron contained his emotions and went to his brother.

"I'm sorry, Aaron," he said, and was about to started to cry again but Aaron shushed him.

"It's not your fault, but could you tell me what happened before you passed out?" Aaron asked his older brother, he was angry, but he knows better than point fingers.

"I-I was drinking the tea Kaitlyn gave me and I just blacked out," Avery replied. “I tried to use all my strength to wake up, believe me. But it was as if there was some other magic that was pulling me away from consciousness.”

“What was the–”

“Alpha!” Aaron was cut off by a deep voice and a group of wolves entered the kitchen. It was Hellos and Squad Aromus. They, like the Squad Arcan, are a group of wolves that has specialized work other than combat.

Squad Arcan oversees everything through cameras and keen eyesight, while Squad Aromus tracks everything through smell. Hellos, their leader, could even beat Aaron and

Stephen’s sense of smell by over a mile. Each member of the squad has close to alpha-level sense of smell.

“Alpha Aaron, we have found a cup of tea with Gamma Avery’s scent on it,” Hellos reported. He handed Aaron a cup and the alpha got dizzy just smelling it from his hand. “Chamomile tea with rosebane and wolfsbane.”

Confused, Aaron looked at Avery, “You didn’t sense the poison?”

The half vampire was lost for words. He swore that he didn’t smell any suspicious substance in his drink. He was even quite relieved that he survived the toxic that targeted both his vampire and werewolf side.

Rosebane was a plant used by medieval humans to lure vampires. Its scent were the same as blood to vampires but when digested, it poisons the vampire and slowly ravage on their insides.

“Alpha, we also found traces of certentia,” Hellos spoke before his alpha could go on another rage. “Certentia hides the smell of poisonous substances for a while.”

“So the problem now is how did this toxic got here,” Aaron sighed. “Besides the problem that my mate is still missing!”

Squad Aromus was sent to track more scents while Aaron was left rubbing his temple on the kitchen stool. His elbows were on the countertop while his hands were on his face.

"I will go look for them," Aaron said, taking his clothes off and running outside.

"I'll come with," Avery said, following his brother and ran towards the woods.

Avery is a hybrid vampire and werewolf and is the first known supernatural to exist. He does not own a wolf form but does have his wolf, Fang.

Meanwhile, Stephen woke up from his slumber. His eyes were swollen from crying and the skin under them were puffy. He couldn't stop blaming himself for the abduction of his mate.

If only I listened to Aaron.

It wasn't your fault. His wolf, Apollo, replied.

It was on me Al.

Don't you think Kaitlyn's been acting kinda weird lately?

Kaitlyn!

What?

Kaitlyn is most possibly with Klyde! And since I am her blood relative–

You can trace her!

Exactly!

Stephen and Apollo focused their power to their sense of smell. Trying to find where Kaitlyn's direction was.

With a deep breathe, the blonde alpha sought the woods for any sign of his sister. He scoured every inch of the large forest until his senses found a familiar figure.

"Aaron," Stephen called out to his mate on their link.

"Yes, babe?" Aaron replied.

"Come to me as soon as shit, I got Kaitlyn's smell. She's about 500 meters West my direction, and I'm hiding my smell with Oak Worm. I'm the only thing that smells like this in about 2 kilometers radius," Stephen instructed.

Aaron quickly went to Stephen's location, with Avery trailing behind him.

"Voltuni rel mintuni voltinum!"

Stephen looked at his older sister, she was performing some kind of ritual on Celestine's tomb.

I know that spell!

What?

She's trying to resurrect her!
