Ch. 13 Tracing Her Scent

Lyod swam to shore and out of the river to track down the smell of his mate. Alas, he couldn't trace it. The scent had blended with the river and other odors. He couldn't even use his sight to follow the pink line.

He couldn't find the color he wanted and only the dull gray he saw.

"What is this? Is my mate a human or a fae?" no matter how hard he tried to find out, Lyod found nothing.

If his mate was a human, Lyod didn't know if he could accept her or not. But… the fact that a human could activate a portal and hold her breath underwater for a long time means… his mate was no ordinary human!

Lyod decided to return to his realm and wait for the sun to rise to find out about his mate. Even though his wolf demanded that he continue searching for their mate in this mortal realm, he didn't comply. He knew his search would be in vain.

Therefore, he preferred to save his energy so that he could track his mate again the next day.

On the other side, Aria went straight into the Chavau family's house through the back door, ignoring her wet body. With quick steps, almost running, Aria entered her room to change clothes and quickly came out to apply this medicinal ointment to Rousell's back.

Because the chef's back wound had left a long line of bruises all over Rousell's back, the middle-aged man didn't wear his clothes and lay on his stomach.

This made it easier for Aria to apply the medicine to the poor man's back. Without waiting any longer, Aria sat beside the unconscious Rousell and applied the magical lotion to all the wounds on Rousell's spine.

Luckily the older man was fast asleep, so Rousell wouldn't feel any pain when she touched the wound.

"Please, let it work. Let it work." prayed Aria as if she chanted a spell as soon as she finished smearing all the bruises on Rousell's back with the ointment.

Aria didn't know how this miraculous medicine worked, but she hoped that Rousell would not have to be in pain again when he woke up in the morning.

After making sure that she left no injuries, Aria walked out slowly and returned to her room. She looked at the magic medicine container with a questioning look.

Should she give it back, or should she keep it? She didn't know if the white Alpha knew any of his belongings had disappeared or not. But she was sure that the young Alpha would know someone had entered his room.

Aria remembered that she had put the items in Alpha's room back to their original position. She was sure that Alpha would not realize his property had been stolen as long as the young Alpha didn't open the ancient chest in his wardrobe.

For the time being, Alpha wouldn't seek her, right. The Alpha would be thinking some of his maids came to clean up his room. Aria's life was still safe for the next few moments.

But… what will happen to her once the white Alpha realizes his magic ointment has disappeared?

Will she lose her neck?

Unknowingly, her free hand touched her delicate milky neck as if she was worried that her head would separate from her body.

Aria didn't know if the white Alpha would brutally punish humans, but she had heard the Alpha king ripped some rogue werewolf mercilessly made her shudder in horror.

Aria decided to quickly return this medicine to its owner before the Alpha realized someone had stolen it. She didn't like returning to the werewolf realm for the second time, but she loved her neck more than keeping this medicine just because she didn't want to set foot in the werewolf realm again.

But before that, she had to make sure the bloody bruises on Rousell's back were completely healed.

The following day, Douglass was still sleeping, snuggling with his mate in his bedroom, when he heard a loud, disturbing call through his mind-linking.

'Doug! Wake up!'

Douglass opened his eyes suddenly at the urgent voice of the Alpha. He thought there was a group of rogue werewolves attacking the White Bridge Pack's territory.

The Beta woke up from his sleep with a heavy heart and went straight out to his Alpha. He guessed that the other wolves were waiting for him along with their Alpha, so he felt flabbergasted when he found out that only Lyod was waiting for him.

"What's wrong? What happened? Was there an invasion?"

"No. Come with me to the mortal realm."

"Did the rogue vampire appear in the mortal realm? But the sun is almost up." Douglass glanced toward the eastern horizon, where a small part of the sun had peeked from the surface.

"Not about that. Let's go!" without letting Douglass comment again, Lyod took his friend's hand, and the two head straight for Crespool Woods.

"Can you explain what we are doing here?" the Beta inquired once they passed through the portal door and arrived at the mortal realm. His mouth was wide open to yawn as the sleepiness hit him again. How he wanted to go back to his room to snuggle with his beloved mate again, but he couldn't afford to refuse his Alpha's orders.

"To find my mate."

"Oo." nodded Douglass amid his drowsiness.

To find his mate, eh? His mate?

Mate?

As if the exact words were ringing in his head, Douglass' sleepiness vanished inexplicably to be replaced with a sense of great joy.

"Hold up! You found your mate!? Seriously?" Douglass sprinted toward his Alpha, who had walked quite a distance from him.

Lyod tried to catch the smell in every housing they passed, and Douglass couldn't help but snicker at how seriously his best friend was looking for the scent of his mate.

"Since when?"

"Last night." was the short reply before re-tracking the smell that had become his addiction.

"But why in here? I thought someone made it crystal clear that he hated the idea of having a human Luna."

Lyod groaned in frustration but did not give any reaction to his friend's teasing remark.
