𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 silent, besides the constant flipping of pages. Dust coated the books like a second cover and the pages looked so delicate that one sheer force could tear them apart. In between the castle of books, sat Esmeray with Benjamin's head on her lap.

The duo had gotten closer unusually fast, perhaps because of their bond with the water. She was the Queen of the Sea and he was her Beta. They were connected even though they didn't know - the prophecy spun by the fates linking them.

Even Esmeray was surprised as to how easy it was to get comfortable around Benjamin, or Ben as he insisted she call him.

"I found it!" Ben suddenly declared, almost making Esmeray jump. The unpredictability of the creatures of the terrain was terrifying.

Ben seated himself so as to face her. He kept the book and flipped through the pages of history.

"This book is written by the grandson of the first werewolf to ever exist. His name was Kaden. This book clearly explains why the division was made and the prophecy. Although it doesn't give away much. I have no idea as to why no one reads these books anymore - this book knows more about me than myself!" Ben says.

After spending about a day with him, Esmeray was well aware of his habit to talk a lot.

"Well, go on..." she tells him.

He doesn't even hesitate, as he begins to read the text in the book.

"Goddess Selene created a new race of creatures, the mythicon [mythical]. They had the body of a mortal but with magic coursing in their veins. Besides the magic, there was something extraordinary between them. They had another part of them, which was hidden until they came of age. And when the first of the mythicons turned, divisions started forging in the race. Many unique forms were identified - the lycans, the mortals who turn into beasts; the vampires, who sucked blood to survive and lived even though their heart didn't beat; the Merfolk, the beautiful creatures who swum in the sea and sung melodious songs; the sirens, who were a deathly combination of vampires and mermaids and the maleficis [witches] whose magic was the most powerful," Ben explained.

Esmeray listened nodded her head as he continued. Somehow, she felt that this might make her understand as to why she was here.

"There was peace even though there was diversity. The species adapted to the powers granted to them and built homes in the environment that suited them. Kingdoms were hence formed, but there were no boundaries in between them. The Gods watched over them as the creatures made sure to give them sacrifices and build temples to worship them. Goddess Selene granted them mates - their other halves who made them whole and happy. But as time went by and the original species mingled with each other, new species were born from them. They were called the hybrids," Ben read.

"Some hybrids learned control over their uniqueness but some succumbed to a terrible darkness. And there was one such hybrid, born from a siren mother and a werewolf father. His name was Damon. From an early age, he showed signs of chaos - he murdered those who angered him, he vanished families who went against him and he killed with no regrets. Death surrounded wherever he went," Ben said.

The sound of the man sent shivers down Esmeray's spine and somehow she knew that whatever was going to happen next was going to be horrible and deadly. Under the sea, she was oblivious of the problems outside the boundaries of water and now, she knew that life was cruel.

She learned it the hard way, but she was glad that she did.

"His anger drove him as he challenged the Kings and manipulated the other creatures to build an army of deathly soldiers. For years, there was war. The land was stained red with the blood of many innocents, families crumpled, and dynasties were threatened. He became more powerful when the maleficis covens started joining him. The maleficis claimed they were treated unjustly and their Queen, Marzanna, supported them. She even agreed to be the mother of his child, but it is believed that there was no heir produced of Damon," it read.

"Seeing the chaos in the lands they had created, the Gods finally decided to interfere. One final war was fought in which Ares, the God of War, defeated the monstrous hybrid and since Damon couldn't be killed as he was immortal, Ares put him into a deep slumber from which he couldn't be awoken," Benjamin said.

But Esmeray knew that this was not the end, there was more to come.

"Seeing Damon's defeat, Marzanna went wild and cursed the species. She created a spell that could bring Damon back from the dead, but only more powerful. With her blood, she transferred the powers of all those who sided with his darkness and if he was to be woken up, Damon can bring havoc to the world,"

"The species were split up into kingdoms when they realized that the creation of hybrids is dangerous. The already existing hybrids were killed or forced to Olympus by the Gods. No kingdom crossed its lines or even interacted with the other kingdom. But we after a hundred years, we have felt it - the awakening of Damon. He sweeps into the minds of innocents and darkens their hearts. Even in his sleep, he is in control of the outer world. The terror will rise again and there is only one way to end him - the death of his mate,"

"No one knows of her, but it is sure that the unlucky girl is not yet born. When the stars align, the Fates have claimed that a prophecy will unfold to create the only person who will bring down the monster. No one ever knew the prophecy as the Gods kept it to themselves. The Aquas were told to protect the sea and look out for the crown of the sea. Because when the crown gets strayed away from the sea, the star will align. The prophecy shall start and great war will have its beginning," Benjamin finishes.

Esmeray realized that she is the crown of the sea. She is the Queen of the sea, after all.

And that her coming to the terrain was deadly.

For she had started the awakening of a monster like no other.
