𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃 and terrified Lucian. The air in the room was so tense that you could cut it with a knife. As he sat on his chair, Blue sat on the one in front of him on the opposite end of the table.

The hollowness in her eyes made him feel sympathetic to her. He had never seen a smile on her face, but he knew if she did smile then it will light up the world around her. She held an ice-cold expression, making it nearly impossible for Lucian to guess the turmoils raging in her mind.

Getting bitten by a vampire and then, losing your wolf can do this to a person.

The girl didn't belong to any pack now since she lost her wolf but Lucian being the kind Alpha he is, was ready to extend a friendly hand to her. No being was ever unworthy of love and care for him. Goddess Selene created every single creature for a purpose.

He watched as she stared at her palms like they were the most interesting thing in the world.

She smelt like the sea when it rained. For him, she smelt like home.

"Do you not remember anything before the accident in the sea?" Lucian asked her for the tenth time.

He heard her sigh but she never looked into his eyes when she answered. It felt like she was hiding something from him.

"No. I have no remembrance of what happened in my life before that day. I am sorry but I can't help you much with what conspired with me. I wish I knew who attacked me," Blue says.

"Okay. Now, will you please tell me your name?" Lucian asked her.

It was the damn time that he knew who the beautiful stranger in front of him was named. She hesitated at first but answered nonetheless.

"Esmeray," she replied.

Esmeray.

The name sounded graceful in his head. Just like the girl in front of him.

"And your last name? Don't you have one?" he asked. Knowing her last name would help him locate which pack she belonged to.

"I don't remember," she replied.

Lucian sighed. This girl was not giving away anything to him, leaving him completely clueless about who she was. He didn't trust her a bit even though her doe eyes looked innocent. Trust is established with time and right now, her secrets worked against her.

"Okay, you can go now. I will let you know if you are transferring to the pack or not. Until then, you will be under close watch so don't dare to try something that you will regret," Lucian warned her.

Yet the girl remains unfazed by his threat, it was as if his Alpha tone didn't work on her.

"Yes, Alpha Lucian. Now, may I take my bid?" she asked Lucian.

"You may," he replied.

Esmeray didn't hesitate to stand up from the seat and rush outside the room, closing the door behind her gently. This meeting was meant for closure, yet it left Lucian more confused than ever.

Who was Esmeray?

𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃 down the eyes of the Queen of the sea. She walked through the forest, her hands running through the barks of the tree as if tracing them. The feeling of the terrain was terrifying and unwelcoming.

As she breathed in the forest air, she couldn't gain any comfort. The greenery around her scared her as she felt that a demon might emerge out of it. The sound of small creatures, which the demons called birds, filled the air but even their melodious voice couldn't calm her down.

After all, she was a mermaid and was very well aware that even behind the most enchanting voice lies a monster - like that of a siren. Her blood boiled when she thought of those monstrous creatures who didn't deserve to live.

Even though Merfolk was peaceful by nature, one wrong move can make them the most dangerous enemy one can imagine. They could drown you in water without any regrets or even destroy your homes with tsunamis.

Esmeray wanted her revenge and she knew that if she gets out of this unknown place, she would have it.

From the memories of the nurse, she knew that she lived in a pack in the were-kingdom. The name of the pack was Ignis since it's majority of the members possessed the power to manipulate fire. Esmeray wasn't aware what fire was as she had never seen one. According to the nurse, it was one of the elements that built the were-kingdom and it's creatures, and provided warmth. She would have to see it in order to know about it.

But Esmeray didn't wish to stay here for long.

When she was finally free of the mysterious yet dangerous forest, her eyes landed on the friend which betrayed her - the sea. Even though the Queen felt broken and angry against it, she found her solace in it.

She took her seat on the bed of soft sand of the beach and her eyes simply looked at the sea. As much as she wanted to let go of the clothes that covered her to swim back into the deep blue sea, she didn't trust her home anymore. It felt cold.

As a mermaid, she was aware that she would soon need to have a nice and long swim in the sea water, but right now wasn't the time. The wound was still deep, the hurt still present.

The tears came running down as she cursed her poor luck. If she would have stayed in her bed with Triton that night, then she wouldn't have been there. If she would have been stronger and more alert, she wouldn't have been separated from her kingdom.

If she would have been a good princess, then the sea wouldn't have betrayed its Queen.

But her pitying came to a halt when she heard a branch snap in the forest behind her. Now alert, she stood up in an instant and looked all around her. Unlike the demonic creatures, she didn't have exceptional sight but she was trained enough to defend herself. Although her legs posed a problem.

An animalistic growl sounded in the air and she snapped her eyes to meet angry red ones. As the beast emerged from the forest, Esmeray was sure of one thing.

This might be her end.
